Mount Dora Golf Club
About
Mount Dora Golf Club is a historic, member-owned golf club open to the public, located about 35 miles northwest of downtown Orlando. The course began to form in 1945, shortly after World War II when returning G.I.'s petitioned the city for land to build a golf course.
A second nine was added in 1959 and the clubhouse was build in the 1960s. Set on just 85 acres, the course bills itself as "The longest 5,700 yards in Florida" thanks to an abundance of water and up and downhill lies that will demand precision over power.

Mount dora public course
Course has steadily y improved over past month. Greens were poor earlier in the year, recent rains were positive for their development.
Why Can't
We have played this course for I can't tell you how many years on Wednesday mornings with a Tee time on or close to 7am. Now since there are 3 of us (which we have before) we got pushed to 8:20am because I think of the Scramble.
The last two times we play from that time it took us 4+ hours to complete play. We are discussed with the changes made and will most likely limit the play at Mt. Dora. That truly saddens me.
Really Enjoyed this course!
Friendly staff at 7am, hot dogs ready at 9, and the conditions of the course were great. Definitely recommend
Disappointing
Played this course late in the afternoon and hoped it would be similar to another course in the area that we had played that morning. Not even close! We booked an online tee time and when we arrived the guy at the counter told us to start on 10 because of their Thursday night league and seemed to indicate we were ready to go but when we got to the tee box there was another twosome there and then here came a group of about 8 high schoolers ready to tee off. We were able to go before them but prior to us reaching the green these high schoolers were hitting drives right into us. Of course, after that hole we were able to pull away but still.....
Course needs some serious attention. Tee boxes are a mess and some of the greens barely had grass. They invested in new carts and the guy at the counter told us to take one with the brown seats as they were newer and better. Should have spent the money on a groundskeeper.
Bumpy
The greens were bumpy. We were warned before going out. Did not help when putting. Missed the mark due to misdirection of the ball. Would consider coming back when the greens are cut and rolled. Not a bad layout, little tight on a few of the t-boxes. Friendly staff.
Golf Buddies
Got stuck behind the last foresome of there scramble at 8:04am. on hole one. What a disaster, it added at least 45min to an hour on our round. Won't take that tee time ever again.
Excellent for the Tee Fees
A good course for getting some work on your strokes. With the exception of several elevated greens, not very difficult. The greens are in good shape as are the sand traps, and the fairways in quite good condition. I will this course several time a month!
Not bad
The course could use a little TLC , here and there. The greens need to be cut and rolled. The four of use probably would have sunk more putts is the ball did not bounce. We were informed they would be slow. But slow and not flat are two different things. We will keep an eye to find out when they are cut and rolled. We’ll come back then to see if it was the “putter” or the greens.
Great value with an even better staff
Mount Dora GC is well worth the time and money to play. About 30ish mins northwest of Orlando this course has elevation changes unique to FL. Being my first time the staff advised me of all elevation changes and “tougher” holes. It was also very hot so the free water bottle at the start and plenty of water jugs throughout the course was a major plus.Only a couple of downsides I can think of 1.some of the tee boxes were pretty beat up and 2. there was no driving range. Overall a nice course to play - will be back.
Decent Course
Straight forward course. Not a lot of hazards. Fairways were in pretty rough shape. For the price, I would golf here again. Played 9 holes.
