Tierra Verde Golf Club
About
Located in a remote southwest part of the city, Tierra Verde is the successful result of Arlington’s Parks and Recreation Department’s effort to provide an upscale, daily fee municipal to complement the other public golf options in town.
Labeled with the new and prestigious Audubon International Signature Certification, this course was the first in Texas and the first municipal course in the world to achieve that honor. The certification signifies that the course was “designed, constructed, and maintained using wildlife conservation and habitat enhancement, water quality management, and water conservation.” What this means for the inconsistent hack is that sprayed shots are not out-of-bounds, but instead buried in a “protected environment.” Unfortunately, the penalty still applies and you’ll need to take your drop. The opening hole is a good example–it’s a basic 355-yard hole, but anything sliced right will find a plum tree thicket, which is the same as hitting it into a lake.
In terms of strategy, you’ll be able to enjoy the generous fairways, but the approaches will require much more precision. Look at the scorecard and get your pars in on the shorter holes, then manage your game to avoid huge numbers on the more difficult holes.
One of the better holes on the front is No. 8, a 518 yard doglegger left that bends hard enough to favor a severe hook. Watch out for the multi-level green and its deceptive turns.
Water is more prominent on the back, as you’ll see on No. 9, a short par 4 that requires a tee shot over water. The narrow fairway squeezes toward the green, and it’s nice to know that the green widens on the back side. The par 5 No. 13 is a birdie hole if you pay attention to the flag position on the huge figure 8 shaped green. This one has water off the tee, as does No. 12. In fact, if you’re short on balls at the turn, you should stock up. Water impacts play time and time again. No. 18, a long par 4 at 437 yards, involves a creek in the fairway that must be carried on the approach.
Other notes: Another bonus at Tierra Verde is the club’s three-hole practice course and lighted driving range.
Getting there : Take US 287 south off of I-20. Find Eden Road and turn right. The entrance is on the left.

Great Course
Great course that is very well maintained. It will require all the shots in your bag too. It's on a nature preserve and every hole is seemingly dropped in the middle of beautiful woodlands. Friendly and hospitable club house and grille. I will definitely will be back again
Fun course!
The course was in great shape and unlike many they don't leave the aeration plugs everywhere. The greens are difficult to read and after all four tried several times to make particular putts without success we made our own rule LOL. Would go back in a heartbeat.
Challenging and fun
First visit to this course and thoroughly enjoyed the round. Considering the recent rains, the course was in great shape. Will return soon.
Not too bad
It was a nice course but could have been in better condition especially with all of the rain we just had
Great Sunday
Really good condition and greens were great condidering all the tain and flooding...
Incredible value
You have to play this course. I was shocked that this was not a private club given the clubhouse, and the condition and overall layout of the course. Would easily and gladly pay twice the rate to play this course again. Incredible value.
First time playing can be a bit tricky, as the fairways open up more than it appears from the tee. Greens have a lot of undulation as well, making it a tough two putt if you're above the hole.
Great Track
Enjoyed the journey around this course! Many times you come off a green and won't see the next hole until you follow the path around to the next tee. Wooded area but generous fairways. Course was in great shape. The greens had been punched 2 days before, but I'm actually glad I didn't know because I probably would have played somewhere else, but as it turned out they still rolled great. Will definitely be back!
Fun course
I was very impressed with Tierra Verde. There was a lot of rain the day before we played, but the course surprisingly drained pretty well. We still had to navigate around puddles, but that is to be expected as it rained a lot. The course from tee box to greens were in great shape. With a hot deal from Golf Now it was really worth it. I'm not sure I'd pay for the full price though. The only complaint I have is that we only saw the cart girl one time on the course.
Good course.. rates don't match ..
Course is always in good condition.
My only complaint would be the rates..for a good course is on the high end.. with no GPS on carts..
its a good target golf ..you can get around with out hitting driver...putts roll true..
Its worth a trip to check it out and said you played it.
Great Course for the money!
I enjoyed the course and the greens were true and rolled as expected. Fairways were punched but were not a problem on 90% of the holes. Can't wait to play it again...
Nice course
Nice layout and close to home. I like playing here but cost is too high for this course
Course is in great shape!!!
Course was in excellent condition, especially the greens. They rolled fast and true. Not sure if the greens keeper had a bad day but the pin positions were very tough and unforgiving, but it was a true test of your entire golf game! Great time!!!
We got paired up with two great golfers, and had a blast.
Teed off just before the price change
Got on $10 less than the twilight price and 15 minutes before the price change. Played 18 in 3 hours. Greens in great shape, pretty fast. Fairway is dead but that's everywhere in Texas in February.
Great course
Course was in great shape . Greens rolled perfect .
My home course
I travel for a living and play over 100 rounds a year. Tierra Verde is the course I compare all the others to. Across the country, few are any better. It will eat your lunch if you can't keep it in the fairway. I recommend this course to anyone traveling to D/FW. If you have time to play only once in my home town, you have to play Tierra Verde!
Tierra Verde
Course was in excellent shape; firm greens; well groomed fairways and a beautiful day to boot - hard to improve on that!!!
Excellent
The course was in great shape. Greens were excellent and very fast.
Overall Good
Course was in pretty good shape. Pace was a bit slow but that's because of the players in front of us. Overall good day of golf.
Great layout!!
This course was a lot of fun. Has some tough holes and some easy holes. Fairways and greens were in great condition. I would definatly play here again
