Tierra Verde Golf Club
About
Located in a remote southwest part of the city, Tierra Verde is the successful result of Arlington’s Parks and Recreation Department’s effort to provide an upscale, daily fee municipal to complement the other public golf options in town.
Labeled with the new and prestigious Audubon International Signature Certification, this course was the first in Texas and the first municipal course in the world to achieve that honor. The certification signifies that the course was “designed, constructed, and maintained using wildlife conservation and habitat enhancement, water quality management, and water conservation.” What this means for the inconsistent hack is that sprayed shots are not out-of-bounds, but instead buried in a “protected environment.” Unfortunately, the penalty still applies and you’ll need to take your drop. The opening hole is a good example–it’s a basic 355-yard hole, but anything sliced right will find a plum tree thicket, which is the same as hitting it into a lake.
In terms of strategy, you’ll be able to enjoy the generous fairways, but the approaches will require much more precision. Look at the scorecard and get your pars in on the shorter holes, then manage your game to avoid huge numbers on the more difficult holes.
One of the better holes on the front is No. 8, a 518 yard doglegger left that bends hard enough to favor a severe hook. Watch out for the multi-level green and its deceptive turns.
Water is more prominent on the back, as you’ll see on No. 9, a short par 4 that requires a tee shot over water. The narrow fairway squeezes toward the green, and it’s nice to know that the green widens on the back side. The par 5 No. 13 is a birdie hole if you pay attention to the flag position on the huge figure 8 shaped green. This one has water off the tee, as does No. 12. In fact, if you’re short on balls at the turn, you should stock up. Water impacts play time and time again. No. 18, a long par 4 at 437 yards, involves a creek in the fairway that must be carried on the approach.
Other notes: Another bonus at Tierra Verde is the club’s three-hole practice course and lighted driving range.
Getting there : Take US 287 south off of I-20. Find Eden Road and turn right. The entrance is on the left.

Fantastic course
Greens held their line. Fairways were plush! Very fair course! Everything was in great shape. It’s a course you can make an all day even out of!
One Of the Best In DFW
Tierra Verde gives you plenty of challenges and rewards. There is generally plenty of room off the tee for a good drive. The greens do have some character to them so knowing where the flag is and trying to get it close is important.
Everything is in great shape right now - fairways firm and fast.
Great course
Awesome track. In great condition for the most part. The greens were overseeded last week and have been watered. Aprons were wet and greens were soft and slow. Otherwise, very nice. Nice to play a course without houses lining the fairways. Play the back two tee boxes for a challenge.
***Best of Arlington***
I've just moved to Texas and played several courses. So far TV is my favorite. I dislike playing courses that are constantly lined with houses and this is NOT one of those. This is my new GO TO course - BEAUTIFUL!!
Thank you for your recent 5-Star review. We look forward to your next visit. Welcome to Texas!
Partner match was excellent
Was pair with a gentlemen that was the best conversationalist (Marcus) and encouraging player a person could ever ask for. His game was par with mine and he was very encouraging and a Christian , which made the entire 4 hours with it. Not sure how this justifies the use of Golfnow, but this was a pairing that was made in heaven. Way to go Tierra verde!!
Thank you for your recent 4-Star review. We look forward to your next visit. Keep it in the fairway until then.
Course Has Been Watered, BUT YOU WILL NOT BE! (BYOW- Bring your own water)
The Good: Sunday afternoon, fast playing, conditions nice for mid August.
The Bad: There are 4 5 gallon water stations on the course. Not one had water . Yes, this is a haha moment for some, but in Texas, in August, the temperature was 100+.
The Ugly: At the turn we mentioned to the beverage lady at the bar, the water stations were empty. At the conclusion of the round I spoke to the clubhouse personnel. He made the excuse that patrons were filling up their own cups, and would empty shortly after filling. When I questioned the frequency they were checked, he stated no one should need more than 6oz per 9. This is such ludicrous logic, its evident this course's management doesn't care after the green fee is paid. Do yourself a favor bring your own water, and take a chance bring any adult beverage you would like, as the weather may be so hot the beverage cart attendant will leave due to the weather. Very disappointing for a "up scale" public course.
Thank you for your reply, as management does review all constructive feedback to assist in maintaining excellence at our facility.
First time playing
Course was in great shape. Greens rolled nice. Some real challenging tee shots with tee placements and trees.
Thank you for your recent 4-Star review. We look forward to your next visit. Keep it in the fairway until then.
Fairways are lush
Beautiful conditions, greens rolling smooth but a little slower than normal. Fairways immaculate. On the list of my favorites in DFW.
Great course but....
There could itself is always in great shape, love the layout! My problem is the lack of cold drinking water on the course, especially now that we are in the summer months in Texas.
Thank you for your recent 5-Star review. We look forward to your next visit. Keep it in the fairway until then.
Great course
Course conditions were great! It wasn’t crowded and pace of play was good. A true native gem in the metroplex area. Hit em straight and you can score, but left to right won’t be forgiven. Will 100% play again for the price.
Thank you for your recent 5-Star review. We look forward to your next visit. Keep it in the fairway until then.
Solid
All around great course, challenging from the tips!
Great Course
I had a great round. The course conditions are really coming around. Big Thanks to the pro shop attendant who scheduled me in before a really slow 3 some went off. Greens are a little slow, but if they were fast the difficulty of the course wouldn’t be as fun.
Thank you for your recent 4-Star review. We look forward to your next visit. Happy to hear you enjoyed your experience at Tierra Verde Golf Club. Best rates and specials can be secured at www.arlingtongolf.com.
Course rounding into shape
It's been a rough spring in the metroplex as far as course conditions go. Tierra Verde is in very good shape relative to the rest of the metro. Fairways and rough in good shape. Grass on the greens, well recovered from being aerated.
Greens are awful
This is technically my home course. I travel all over the US and play. But when I am home I tend to play Here more often than not. The course is in the worst shape I have seen it in years. Fairways are spotty and the greens are bad and I mean real bad. Not a good deal for what you pay. Lake Arlington is in way better shape. My new home course will be Texas Rangers Golf Club. Played there for the first time. Hopefully the staff can get Verde back to what it once was. Very sad
Thank you for your recent 5-Star review. We look forward to your next visit. Keep it in the fairway until then
