The Golf Club at Hilton Head Lakes
About
The Golf Club at Hilton Head Lakes is a Tom Fazio design that is challenging, but with five sets of tees it is versatile enough for players of all skill levels. Fazio deftly utilized the native wetlands and numerous lakes that are interspersed across the landscape, incorporating them along the expansive fairways and angled greens. The tricky greens have been carefully molded and contoured to offer a variety of pin placements. In addition to the water hazards, there are also numerous strategically placed bunkers lurking throughout. The golf course will test your shot-making skills as well as your creativity. To complement the golf course, Hilton Head Lakes offers an equally impressive 36-acre, double-ended practice facility with target greens, bunkers, multiple practice greens, and even a par-3 short course.

Long round
Course was in good shape. The rough a little long for the average golfer. Played alone on front nine there were no other golfers to pair up with. A group of women golfers started on back nine. Took forever to play the back.
Great fun and relaxing play
One of the best courses in the area for the price. Well maintained open fairways with challenging greens. Nice layout with water and bunkers to challenge all levels. First time playing here and will definitely be back again.
Very friendly staff
Wide open fairways and no bad lies
Great views plenty of wildlife
Very relaxing
Relaxing round
Booked through Golfnow. As a single, they actually put me out by myself at 8am. Quickly caught up to a really nice couple. Played with them, the rest of the way. Greens were a little threadbare. I could see the punch marks in them. Fairways were good and a lot of the traps could have benefitted from more sand. The sand was packed and in some places, wet. Not a walkable course, since the distance between holes can be more than a half a mile.
Enjoyable day. Will go back
Good and bad
The course is in good condition, fairways have plenty of grass and greens roll very well. I am in eight handicap in my boys who are 30 and 26 or about 18 handicaps and when we play together I try to encourage them to play the forward tees so they enjoy the road more and it doesn’t take them long to play as well. We played the green trees which is as far forward as you can play end it still long for them. Fairways are in good condition but lies are very tight and although the greens roll well they were fast as lightning and there’s not a flat putt on the course. Golf is on the decline for the things I mentioned, nobody wants to take five hours to play so they can shoot 100 anymore, lighten up and take some bite out of this course so people can enjoy themselves. When it becomes a qualifier for the Georgia amateur you can go back to where it is . I shot a 78 so I’m not bitter I just know most golfers would struggle here.
Nice Course
Just starting to play golf again after 25 years. Picked this course because of the generous fairways (from previous reviews) Used to play to an 8 handicap before. Course was in very nice condition Fairways in very good shape, greens were true rolling, not bumpy. The only downside I could see to this course, as there was a quick shower while I played and found some wet areas after the quick shower. (and it has been very dry recently) Would think after some normal rainfall would not play the next day or two afterwards. All in all an enjoyable afternoon and will surely play again.
Good Value
Everything was very good except for the bunkers. Rain has taken out a lot of the sand.
Great Course
Absolutely loved the course amazing fairways and the greens were super fast but beautiful. The pace of play got slow at times the bigger groups out there played slow but an amazing course. Can’t wait to get back out there again just hopefully it won’t be as hot.
Good Day on the links
Much enjoyed except for the thunderstorms on the 16th hole. Too bad for me.
Hot Deal on a Hot Day
Paid $27 for 18 holes/cart...which is an excellent price for an absolutely great course. Despite the heat the course was in great shape, greens were smooth and fast, fairways were lush and rough was thick. One of the better public courses in the area. Highly recommended.
