The Golf Club at Hilton Head Lakes is a Tom Fazio design that is challenging, but with five sets of tees it is versatile enough for players of all skill levels. Fazio deftly utilized the native wetlands and numerous lakes that are interspersed across the landscape, incorporating them along the expansive fairways and angled greens. The tricky greens have been carefully molded and contoured to offer a variety of pin placements. In addition to the water hazards, there are also numerous strategically placed bunkers lurking throughout. The golf course will test your shot-making skills as well as your creativity. To complement the golf course, Hilton Head Lakes offers an equally impressive 36-acre, double-ended practice facility with target greens, bunkers, multiple practice greens, and even a par-3 short course.

Actually I think the course was to wet for play, most bunkers wash out, greens and tee boxes great, but lots and I mean lots of casual water.

Wet weather
Used cart

Course was wet; Cart path only which made for long walks to play shots. Greens rolled true and consistent; probably running 9-10. Very good pace of play considering the cart path only conditions. Fairways in good condition, but very wet. Didn't seem to drain well. Overall, good value. Back nine has more character than front which seemed like holes were similar.

Hidden gem

25 miles from Hilton Head, this is an amazing course. Any golfer, regardless of ability will find this s fun course to play. Difficulty lies in the tee box chosen. Greens are fast and true. If you played this course 3 years ago like I did, it has improved immensely. Loved every minute of it

Sand and crowns

This course is interesting to play with mostly wide fairways and holes with challenges. The holes are spread nicely so that you do not have holes right next to each other. There are two problem areas. The sand bunkers need sand. When you land in a bunker you are forced to try and scoop the ball out as the sand is not deep enough to allow a true sand shot. Another problem is that every hole is crowned on the putting greens. It is almost impossible to lag the ball in without it being pushed to the side or stopped by the crown around the hole caused by not creating the new hole properly by course personnel. If you hit the ball firmer, the crowning will elevate the ball over the hole. I do not think course personnel are spending any time leveling the hole area. There is equipment available at golf course supply companies for less than $30 that would solve this problem.

Golf was great, as was the staff!

Greeted by the pro who was very friendly, and then met the starter who was very helpful and a class act. He made us feel very welcome! Front nine wove throughout neighborhoods and new house starts. A fun course, but much more scenic on the back nine. We enjoyed the wide open fairways surrounded by fir trees and lakes. Shots did not roll up into the greens. They would stop which left chips and putts. It was a great day! I even got some pars! I also got a great buy on 2 beautiful golf shirts! I paid $50. total for two!

Worth the money if dry.

Course was pretty good condition outside of the bunker and the course was really wet. Path only and it is not a path only friendly course. Scorecard said blue tees were 6650 and it was playing waaayyy longer. Black tee markers weren’t out and I think they stuck the blues back a little further. Outside of the wet fairways the course is rather nice. Wide open which you don’t get much of around here and greens are decent size and rolled good. Not too quick but solid around a 8-9 I figure. Pro shop was ok with the basics and grill smelled good but as usual overpriced. Very few people on the course and the range was closed because of the wetness. Think they had a sprinkler problem because it has not rained. Going to be a few days to dry up to get off paths.

Gets better each time I play!

I have played this course a few times and each time it gets better. The new clubhouse really brings the entire course together. The layout is very challenging with numerous tees for all abilities. Well worth the trip from anywhere in the low country. Will be visiting again soon, beautiful course. Keep up the good work.

A great day

All round this is a good course to play, friendly staff, condition good and a decent layout at an excellent price. We were staying on Hilton head so 20 or so miles to drive but we’ll worth it, so much so we played it twice in a week. The course has wide fairways with water on about half the holes but not daunting for the higher handicapper. Our 4 has a range of handicaps from 10 to 23 and the choice of tees made playing enjoyable for all.
