The Golf Club at Hilton Head Lakes
About
The Golf Club at Hilton Head Lakes is a Tom Fazio design that is challenging, but with five sets of tees it is versatile enough for players of all skill levels. Fazio deftly utilized the native wetlands and numerous lakes that are interspersed across the landscape, incorporating them along the expansive fairways and angled greens. The tricky greens have been carefully molded and contoured to offer a variety of pin placements. In addition to the water hazards, there are also numerous strategically placed bunkers lurking throughout. The golf course will test your shot-making skills as well as your creativity. To complement the golf course, Hilton Head Lakes offers an equally impressive 36-acre, double-ended practice facility with target greens, bunkers, multiple practice greens, and even a par-3 short course.

Golf was great, as was the staff!
Greeted by the pro who was very friendly, and then met the starter who was very helpful and a class act. He made us feel very welcome! Front nine wove throughout neighborhoods and new house starts. A fun course, but much more scenic on the back nine. We enjoyed the wide open fairways surrounded by fir trees and lakes. Shots did not roll up into the greens. They would stop which left chips and putts. It was a great day! I even got some pars! I also got a great buy on 2 beautiful golf shirts! I paid $50. total for two!
Worth the money if dry.
Course was pretty good condition outside of the bunker and the course was really wet. Path only and it is not a path only friendly course. Scorecard said blue tees were 6650 and it was playing waaayyy longer. Black tee markers weren’t out and I think they stuck the blues back a little further. Outside of the wet fairways the course is rather nice. Wide open which you don’t get much of around here and greens are decent size and rolled good. Not too quick but solid around a 8-9 I figure. Pro shop was ok with the basics and grill smelled good but as usual overpriced. Very few people on the course and the range was closed because of the wetness. Think they had a sprinkler problem because it has not rained. Going to be a few days to dry up to get off paths.
Amazing
The new clubhouse is awesome and so is the course. Although there is building going on while you play the course is in amazing shape and will frequent this course again.
Return Visit
Returned again for another year, have played here multiple times for the past 5 years. The course was in its best condition every. The staff and maintenance personnel have done a great job on the course and the new club house is terrific. Highly recommend playing The Golf Club of Hilton Head Lakes
Gets better each time I play!
I have played this course a few times and each time it gets better. The new clubhouse really brings the entire course together. The layout is very challenging with numerous tees for all abilities. Well worth the trip from anywhere in the low country. Will be visiting again soon, beautiful course. Keep up the good work.
Great Day of Golf
Course was in great shape, pace of play was 3.5 hrs for 18 holes. It was an all around great round of golf
A great day
All round this is a good course to play, friendly staff, condition good and a decent layout at an excellent price. We were staying on Hilton head so 20 or so miles to drive but we’ll worth it, so much so we played it twice in a week. The course has wide fairways with water on about half the holes but not daunting for the higher handicapper. Our 4 has a range of handicaps from 10 to 23 and the choice of tees made playing enjoyable for all.
Excellent condition.
The course is in excellent condition. Would play every day! Mowed grass could be cleaned up.
Greens
Great staff. Fast greens. No holes on top of each other. Definitely will play again.
Can't pick the golfers in front of you
Course was really nice, a bit soggy in the fairways. Only drawback was a group in front of us that caused our back 9 to take almost 3 hours to play and no course marshall to speed them up
nice course to play
This course was nice to play. Lay out is excellent. The greens were in nice shape but were a little too slow for me. The bunkers were in bad shape, a little wet and muddy with fat and deep trowel marks. The weather was very hot and the course did had very nice restrooms with ice and water machines, which were a God send. Very open with big fairways. I would play again.
Getting better...
Have played this course for five years and conditions have improved markedly over that span of time. There was a time when, at best, this course was a wasteland.
The greens are in very good shape (new holes need to be cut more frequently), the fairways, and rough are were in very good shape as well. Overall course maintenance has steadily improved and appears that it will continue to improve.
The new clubhouse has finally opened after too many years of looking at the artist conception and the notation "coming soon." And, finally, you actually start play at the first hole!
A nice piece of golf real estate, decent pricing, good staff, well worth a try if you've never played here.
This Course keeps getting better all the time
The course is starting to mature and is becoming a wonderful golf option particularly when you consider the VERY reasonable price. The course conditions are near perfect right now. The bunkers need a lot of help, but they in NO WAY detract from your round. Of special note is the FABULOUS newly competed clubhouse. It is just stunning. This is one of the best golf values in Beaufort/Jasper Co area.
Eagle
Hot day!!!!!! Got right out first tee par 5.....Drive,hybrid,wedge 60 yes out,5 feet spin right in the cup. First Eagle. Was jacked so the next holes weren't great. Awesome day!!! Course tee to green in great shape. Clubhouse looks great. The staff is ALWAYS friendly. One of my favorites.
Nothing spectacular but good value
Overall a good round of gold. Course doesn't offer anything special, but is a decent layout and was in very good condition. Tees, fairways, and greens were all in very good shape. Greens rolled well but are very tough to read and contain a lot of false breaks. Bunkers are mostly in terrible shape and some are completely unhittable. Course is pretty wide open, but the design does restrict many drives and give challenging distances from some tees. Greens were extremely bouncy and hard to hold sometimes, and many flags were tucked right behind bunkers. Very nice practice facility and new clubhouse.
Nice course but leaves room to spray the ball
Nice course a lot of room to spray the ball and great greens nothing to hard but a fun course
Good Value
I enjoy playing the course. It's very wet now like all courses.
Soggy
Wish I was informed prior to booking the course was soggy, my opinion unplayable- cart path only... but again should have been closed... GolfNow purchased, but no info of course conditions
