The Golf Club at Hilton Head Lakes
About
The Golf Club at Hilton Head Lakes is a Tom Fazio design that is challenging, but with five sets of tees it is versatile enough for players of all skill levels. Fazio deftly utilized the native wetlands and numerous lakes that are interspersed across the landscape, incorporating them along the expansive fairways and angled greens. The tricky greens have been carefully molded and contoured to offer a variety of pin placements. In addition to the water hazards, there are also numerous strategically placed bunkers lurking throughout. The golf course will test your shot-making skills as well as your creativity. To complement the golf course, Hilton Head Lakes offers an equally impressive 36-acre, double-ended practice facility with target greens, bunkers, multiple practice greens, and even a par-3 short course.

Always enjoy playing golf at the Lakes. The staff are the best, very cheerful and happy to assist you.
The course is in excellent condition. This is a credit to the turf manager and grounds crew.
Great Course
This course has great value . I would play again next time I'm in the area
Nice course
First time playing here. Very nice. Solid course. Great greens. I will be back again
Tiger Mosquitos will carry you away.
We played after hurricane matthew and the course was in good condition given the clean up that was necessary. Staff were friendly and helpful. Pace of play was a little over 4.5 hours. The mosquitos were very large and very hungry. Not much fun swatting in between shots. We havent been back but i understand that the course has been sprayed and the Mosquitos are mostly gone. This might be a question to ask. Otherwise the round of golf and course layout were enjoyable.
Nice alternative
I played HH Lakes 4 times this past week - 10/30, 31, 11/2,4 and had a great experience. We have a vacation home on HHI and the courses on the Island were closed due to the recovery from Hurricane Matthew, which forced me to choose an off-island course and lead me to HH Lakes. Aside from the bunkers, many of which suffered hurricane damage so I am not going to gig them for that, the course is in excellent condition. It's not as scenic as some of the other low country courses, but there are plenty of lakes, ponds, streams, bogs and marshy areas and a fair amount of wildlife, i.e., gators, herons, etc. The HH Lakes community is still being built and a club house is being constructed.. The staff was friendly and attentive and the prices were very fair. I received 2 excellent lessons from Kole and recommend him highly. The only downer were the Tiger mosquitoes, which were aggressive, but the unusually warm weather was a factor and after the course was sprayed there were less of them.
Pack the bug spray
Course was in good condition. Layout has very little character. Mosquitoes eat us alive. When they ask you in the Pro Shop if you have bug spray and then sell to you for $10 it ought to give you a clue.
Wow this course wowed me
This course impresses you the minute you pull into the complex. The big Hilton Head Lakes community sign out front. The impressive high scale look to the community. So many new houses being built. I counted at least 20-30 new houses in various stages of construction you can tell this is going to be an impressive area. The course was beautiful with a lot of lakes, creeks, bogs and swampy areas. This came with a downside, the mosquito population was very evident and active big black striped ones. Being from Ohio something I'm not used to. There was also an abundance of wild life. I saw 3 alligators (one behind #7 green was huge). I also saw various hawks, a bald eagle, and an osprey. Wow!
Very good condition
We could not play on HHI due to hurricane Matthew and were very pleased with the option of Hilton Head Lakes appx. 10 miles off the island in Bluffton. The fairways were in great shape and the greens putted smoothly. The course is relatively new and the temporary clubhouse was sufficient for it's purpose. Staff was friendly and informative. We rebooked for a second round several days later. Price was a bargain for the course. Practice facilities were very good for warmup, did not gouge for range balls! $5 for a generous bucket.
Good course and friendly staff.
Tee time was early afternoon and the pace was great. The of play was was more than acceptable as ourFoursome finished in 3.5 hours. The fairways and greens are excellent.
No club house but the but that did not take anything away from the course and friendly staff.
Excellent! Glad you loved the course and pace of play was on point. Come back soon!
Excellent value
Friendly staff, course in very good shape. Greens are true and fairways are excellent shape.
Excellent! Glad the staff made your round that much more enjoyable and you loved the course. See you again!
Friendly Staff and Good greens.
The staff was super friendly. Really enjoyed the round, not many people out on Labor Day, which was a shock. So the pace was excellent. Would play again. Worth the 1 hr. drive.
Happy to hear and thanks for making the drive!
a excellent round
greens are in excellent shape, fairways in excellent shape as well.
Thank you so much for your excellent rating, come back soon we can't wait to see you!
In nice shape
Greens were in great shape
Thank you tommy2tie for the 5-stars and feedback. We are so happy you had a great time and see all the hard work we have put into the course. Please let us know if you ever need anything and come back and see us again soon!
This course needs some investment.
Course maintenance crew consisted of one guy on a tractor cutting rough, fairways and the common areas in the Community. Fairways are very generous but course can be set up to play as difficult or easy as you like. With some investment it would be a fun public course to play.
Can't compare to Private courses but would recommend for public golf, all levels.
Tommy Fazio will never be looked up as his uncle Tom.
Thank you for the review and feedback of The Golf Club at Hilton Head Lakes. We are so happy you had a great time and found it to be challenging at times. Please let us know if there is anything we can do for you while you are here and we hope you will come back and see us again very soon!
Nice track
Booked a GN hot deal. Well worth the money. Forgiving layout in good condition. Biggest issue was the lack of sand, which course mgt blamed on recent rains. Greens, while in good shape, free of ball marks, were very slow. Had to get used to hammering putts. Very friendly staff. Thank you guys! Would most likely give it a second go.
Thank you for the review! We are pleased to hear that you had an overall great day with us. Please do give us a second go, we would love to have you back!
great greens
most fairways are wide, greens were good.
Thanks for reviewing us! Hope to see you soon.
Great Course
This was my first time on this course. The course is in good shape. It wasn't crowed which made you feel you were the only one on the course.
Thanks for your review. We're happy to hear you had an enjoyable day on our course. Come back soon!
Great vacation course
Course is in great shape. Course is right in front of you with wide fairways and big greens with huge breaks

The Great Rebound!!!
A few months ago, my playing partners and I decided we were not going to play this course due to the decline in conditions. The staff has always been great but the course conditions declined over the last couple of years or so. I found a hot tee time yesterday because I heard from a friend the place was in good shape again. Wow, were they right or what! The tee boxes looked great, the fairway was healthy and the greens very true (guessing an 11 or 12 stemp). Early in the year, poana had taken over these greens. Not a trace of that yesterday. I highly recommend playing this place for those who like the score friendly member tees or the challenging black tees. Great job to the grounds keepers and staff at HH Lakes!!!
Thank you for your review and thank you for giving our course another chance! We are thrilled that you have noticed the improvements our course has made and are so happy to have changed your opinion of our course! Please come back and play with us again!
Thank you for your feedback and review. Hope to have you back at the course soon.
