About
The Golf Club at Hilton Head Lakes is a Tom Fazio design that is challenging, but with five sets of tees it is versatile enough for players of all skill levels. Fazio deftly utilized the native wetlands and numerous lakes that are interspersed across the landscape, incorporating them along the expansive fairways and angled greens. The tricky greens have been carefully molded and contoured to offer a variety of pin placements. In addition to the water hazards, there are also numerous strategically placed bunkers lurking throughout. The golf course will test your shot-making skills as well as your creativity. To complement the golf course, Hilton Head Lakes offers an equally impressive 36-acre, double-ended practice facility with target greens, bunkers, multiple practice greens, and even a par-3 short course.

Getting better
The greens are improved and rolling well.
The next step is the driving range and tee boxes need work. The driving range had very little grass to hit from. Several tee boxes have very little grass as well.
Hope the crew keeps the good work up.
Good condition
Good condition. Greens fast and clean. HHL is all about drainage. Low spots in fairways a bit mushy still although windy and no rain x4 days.

Surprised
We went of Island to play! Wasn’t expecting much!
I was wrong! The difference of 2 -9’s. Front nine house and back 9 preserve. Greens were good and fairways good!

GREENS PERFECT! Course in fantastic shape!
The last time we played HH Lakes was March 4, 2023, and the greens were covered with Poa annua and were basically un-puttable. But the greens are now PERFECT! Also, the tee boxes were great, with normal grass on them, and the fairways were clean and well-mowed. Good raked sand in the bunkers. This course has a beautiful layout, with a nice Adirondack feel to it, with all the beautiful pine trees, water, and beauty. The staff was very friendly and professional. We couldn't have been happier with the condition of the course and staff.

Worth Playing Multiple Times
We normally don’t drive this far off the Island, especially when it’s raining but we’re glad we did.
Connie was super nice and Steve was very friendly allowing us to wait out the rain delaying out tee-off time. The course has some of best and consistent greens we’ve played and while it has generous fairways plays a bit trickier within 125-150 yards out.
We didn’t have time for 18 or utilizing all the facilities, however the back 9 are very picturesque and no homes in sight. This will become an annual course on our playlist.

Would not play again
Pros: Pace of play was very good. Greens were good.
Cons: Nobody at bag drop. Guessed that we should get our own cart and load it. Proshop of little help - didn’t pay much attention to us. Marshal pointed us to 1st hole but nothing else. Cart paths are in very bad shape at a lot of places so be awake while driving or you might get shaken up pretty badly. At end of round - someone finally paid attention to us while we were putting on 18 - they cleaned our clubs to get their tip.
Overall course has wide fairways (reasonable conditions), easy to navigate, not overly challenging.

Long course
One of the longer courses I've played. Sooo long between greens and the next tee box. Could never walk it.

Visible Improvement
First time playing in a while. The staff should be commended for recovering the greens. They were in very good shape with no scarring from previous weed infestation. The course had treated greens to prevent weeds next year.
I will be back to see if course continues to invest in course upkeep. The back 9 is still one of my favorite.

Long Long Course
I could never walk this course as there are many many yards between greens and the next Tee box. The greens had to be running about 12 or more. Really FAST. WIDE fairways and a fun course.
