The Trails of Frisco Golf Club
About
The Trails of Frisco golf course is one of Jeff Brauer’s most unique designs -- primarily because it doesn’t fit the mold of his other courses. Brauer, who’s known for his open, straight-forward courses, designed this one to tip out to a par 71, 6,900 yards, loaded it with hidden creeks, scenic wetlands, extensive bunkering, and massive greens. In fact, first-timers will be confused here. They’ll face intimidating views off the tee that leave doubt as to the problems that loom ahead, and it is definitely possible to lose all of your balls off the tee if you’re struggling.
The golf course is just flat-out challenging, especially on the front nine. No. 1 opens up with a creek on the left that cuts in front of the green and generally makes its presence known on every shot. The play here is to stay right and stay away from its subtle presence on the left side. The creek comes into play on Nos. 2, 4, 5, and even No. 9, where it chutes from the fairway in front of the green and surrounds the green of this challenging par 4.
All told, water and waste areas are in play on 16 of 18 holes (including every par 3), and the creeks are enhanced by visible lakes and ponds on the back side, even though it is considered a bit easier than the front.

#2 green @ Trails Photo submitted by bowhunter817 on 04/10/2013
Good course needing a few improvements
Liked the challenge of the course. Green is rough and ball didn’t roll on it well. Like many other courses, but probably a little worse than others, the sand bunker looked like dirt bunkers.
Great course
Very nice green condition and beautiful course !!
Tough course rough conditions
We had a pace issue due to a party of 5 playing in front of us. I noted some young adults or teenagers messing around a few holes.ahead as well which could have contributed to the slow down. Greens are fast, difficult and could use some maintenance. Tee boxes need some attention too. Not my favorite course in the area.
Fun course but needs some TLC
Had a good time out at Trails that day. Staff was super friendly. Clubhouse was OK. The obvious issue keeping this course from being more popular is the condition of the course itself. You pay fir a quality course, but you get municipal links level of play. Lots of sandy spots and areas where the grass looked burned from being a little too dry all summer.
All in all, we had a good time and it’s a fun layout. Tight fairways make accuracy off the tee important. Would, and probably will, play it again… but not at full price.
Slower than Slow
So, the pace of play here and course conditions do not dictate the price point. I was at the tee box on hole 13 when I looked down at my watch and saw we were 4.5 hours into a 4 hour round. The marshal let a two some that was 15 minutes late to their tee time tee off in front off us so we started in a log jam. Why was that even allowed. They showed up late! they can sit and wait until another slot comes available for a twosome! not 5 min before our tee time. We saw no Marshall on the course to push the pace or keep people on time. Very disappointing and frustrating when waiting on every tee box and every fairway and every cart path for the tee box. Additionally, I know its fall/winter golf but there were ground cracks on the unlevel tee boxes and fairway. Greens recently punched as well with no notification of punching at check-in. Not a lot of interest to return if this is the new status quo.
Add water
Course dried up. Hard pan everywhere
Tee boxes were horrible
Cart ran out of juice at 12 called and carried clubs through 16 before staff came with cart.
No Marshall entire course
Poor conditions and poor pace of play.
Took 6 hours to play a round of golf, course conditions were extremely poor. Shaggy greens, dead fairways, concrete for bunkers and holes that looked like they were cut by a drunken sailor. Wouldn’t play here until the conditions are improved or price is dropped. It’s by far the worst course I’ve played in the North DFW area.
Not at this price!
Felt like the tried to squeeze a golf course into a neighborhood landfill. The course layout was just weird. All of the water stations were empty. No on-course refreshments either. Not a fan. Won’t be back.
Do NOT Waste your time or money
Horrible course in the DFW area. Patrons were awful, pace of place was as slow as possible and the group behind us almost hit us with balls over 4 times.
The course itself is laid out okay however it was in HORRIFIC shape. Parts of the "fairway" were completely burned out to the ground. the bunkers were like attempting to hit it off concrete, and the greens were bumpy as can be.
There are tons of different courses that are cheaper and 100x better than this course. DO NOT go here and waste your time or money.
Nice course
Everything was nice except the angry older gentleman who was a single, sandwiched between 2 threesomes but did not want to join with either group becuz he was playing from the red tees!! we respectfully waited to hit on virtually EVERY shot!! made our round very long. but, that’s not a reflection of the course nor staff.. just wish Marshall would have for forced him to join a group.
