The Trails of Frisco Golf Club

About
The Trails of Frisco golf course is one of Jeff Brauer’s most unique designs -- primarily because it doesn’t fit the mold of his other courses. Brauer, who’s known for his open, straight-forward courses, designed this one to tip out to a par 71, 6,900 yards, loaded it with hidden creeks, scenic wetlands, extensive bunkering, and massive greens. In fact, first-timers will be confused here. They’ll face intimidating views off the tee that leave doubt as to the problems that loom ahead, and it is definitely possible to lose all of your balls off the tee if you’re struggling.
The golf course is just flat-out challenging, especially on the front nine. No. 1 opens up with a creek on the left that cuts in front of the green and generally makes its presence known on every shot. The play here is to stay right and stay away from its subtle presence on the left side. The creek comes into play on Nos. 2, 4, 5, and even No. 9, where it chutes from the fairway in front of the green and surrounds the green of this challenging par 4.
All told, water and waste areas are in play on 16 of 18 holes (including every par 3), and the creeks are enhanced by visible lakes and ponds on the back side, even though it is considered a bit easier than the front.

Trails is solid track
Track was in great shape, paces was a little slow, staff was solid as always.
Course is in terrible conditions.
Not sure how or why people are willing to pay $100 per person to play here. It was my first time playing this course, and outside of the wet/soggy conditions due to the weekend storms, overall the course is in terrible shape. Trash all over the fairways, makeshift cart paths, bridges that look like they were built a century ago, and a driving range so small you can barely even walk behind the boxes. Not impressed…and definitely not worth $100!
Trash course
The pace of play was horrible, tee boxes made of concrete basically and everything was so overgrown it wasn’t even funny. Overall trash course and will never play again.
Tee boxes dried out. Hard as a rock. Not level.
Fairways dried out.
Greens in good shape.
Avoid until further notice
Course is turning into Bridlewood - too many slow players clogging up play. Conditions are also bad right now. Lots of burned up areas, big cracks in the ground, fairways really inconsistent - some grass out there, but mostly not. Bunkers are awful. Sand is like concrete. Greens are at least in good shape. They have been spending the water budget on greens. We were a foursome and played through a foursome in front o us. One of the players was teaching his girlfriend how to play golf - on a Saturday afternoon when we’re all just trying to get around. And there were 4 holes wide open in front of them. Just inconsiderate and rude. Staff finally came out and did amending about it.
Decent course but they want everyone in by 8pm!! DUMB
The course isn’t bad. It the tee boxes are as hard as concrete so you need a jackhammer for teeing ball up. Don’t use plastic tees. The BIGGEST ISSUE though is this course allows tee times past 5pm, which is great, but they have a policy that they want all carts in by 8pm!! STUPID as there’s almost an hour of daylight left in July and August after 8pm. Not to mention they have tee times very close together and no marshal, so if the group ahead is slowing you down there’s no one to speed them up BUT they come out to get you off the course at 7:45pm! I would NOT recommend to play here unless your tee time is before 3:30pm!!
Great, but…
Love the layout and value, T areas were hard ground, few dry spots on the course, but not too bad. Did not like that. They wanted the cart back by 815 when there was light until 845…
not a good value
The tee boxes are almost impossible to get a tee in the ground. There was no water available on the course; every water station was empty at 10am.
The carts are barely operable and in poor condition. not a $90.00 track.
Too Cute
Several of the holes are attempting to get too cute with placement shots to precise spots. For those who don't know the course, these are next to impossible to hit as you can't see landing zones due to lush growth.
Challenging course; bad shape
Almost impressive how bad of shape this course is in with all the rain. Many tee boxes are complete dirt & fairways are rock. Greens are serviceable. The funniest part is that they catfish you with the putting green at the clubhouse. It looks immaculate lol.
