Frisco Lakes Golf Club

I like to play several courses in DFW and Frisco Lakes is always in the rotation. It is a nice layout and challenging course. It had rained 2 inches in the morning so it was cart path only and the greens were slower than normal (assumed they didn't cut due t rain). It was in very good shape overall, except for some lingering damage from the deep freeze we had this past winter. Some sodding was being done to repair but none of if affected play. Staff was super friendly and it was nice to get out and enjoy the course. I will be going back to play it again, and again.

Major issues with loss of grass on fairways and greens, but the biggest problem is the 6” Bermuda grass rough. Ridiculous , unless you’re playing in the US Open!

Waited on every hole. Marshal did nothing about it. Fairways are horrible due to freeze. They should not be charging full price.

Very slow play but it was hot , very hot . The course is a great layout but the condition is poor. Wait and few months to play and let the grass grow back in and the sans traps can be repaired.

I live in Frisco Lakes and I have become totally disgusted with the manner the residents here are treated by ownership. Even having my own golfcart, I pay 10-15 dollars more for this course that is in horrible shape. The number of holes that have been changed to Par 3 instead of the usual Par 4 due to the condition of the fairways makes this course totally unacceptable to any golfer that is interested in having a pleasent round of golf.

As if this wasn't enough to ruin a round of golf, the number of "cart path only" holes is ever increasing. If you're going to make us walk so many holes, why even rent/have a cart?

I recognize that the course was hit hard by the freeze, but don't expect me to continue to pay full price for a very substandard product. As a home owner, I would love to play here and use my golfcart, but I will not be back until changes are made to this course and to the attitude of the owner.,

Enjoyed a fun round out by the Lakes today, everything was awesome!

The greens hadn’t been cut, the greens had sod patches on them. The fairways were dead in a lot of places, with sod patches that were not level with the rest of the fairway. Lastly, as we played the entire back nine the green sprinklers were being turned off so we could play, but with the already slow greens and the added water it made putts impossible. Really wish the club would’ve just closed Bc the course is unplayable as it sits. I’ve heard before that this course was really nice which was why I wanted to play it so hopefully they can get this fixed.

Have played Frisco Lakes many of times in the past and is one of my favorites in the metroplex with the challenging layout and fun holes. However, the marshal said the course was “wet” so it would be cart path only. I did not see one spot of standing water or flossing throughout the entire course. The fairways were dead as can be with 0 grass growing and the greens were so hairy it felt like that hadn’t been cut for 6 weeks. Cups were frayed and never rolled very smooth, lots of dead spots in the fairways as well. Won’t be back for a while until they can get their course maintenance back. Such a shame.

Played this as a Father’s Day present from my wife. My buddy and I finished the round in 4:20, but that’s about as much praise as I can give. The greens were punched four weeks prior, and while no sand or anything was noticeable, they had not mowed them yet, leading to some of the slowest, hairiest greens I’ve ever played on. In hindsight it would have been better to chip anything over 30 feet. In addition to that, the freeze wreaked havoc on so much of the course, with so many fairways and tees dead, that the 16th hole was shortened to a par 3 to lay down new sod directly on top of existing grass. I hope that strategy works because at 80$ for a 9am weekend tee time, that’s a steep price to pay for a course that was in such bad shape. Other courses handled the freeze much better than this just down the road. Couple that with having to wait 30 minutes to be served in the clubhouse(with literally two groups in our room of the clubhouse and 7 or 8 wait staff members minimum), and spending an hour and a half waiting on food, clearly this course has no idea how to cater to the guests that come in. We also didn’t see a cart girl until the 8th hole. Poor conditions, poor service, poorly priced. Not coming back. Go spend your money elsewhere and thank me later.

I was excited to play this course when I saw the layout. I booked it at the last minute and the morning tee times were already gone, so I was stuck with twilight. Little did I know, I dodged a bullet only paying the $50 twilight rate instead of the $80 morning rate.

The greens were in horrible shape. They putted like fairway grass and nothing rolled true. The fairways had more bare spots than grass.Furthermore, two fairways were in such bad shape, they move the tees up to play the holes as par 3s. $50 for this course any time of day was a complete rip off. I would NOT recommend playing here.

The kicker... a group of complete hackers jumped our tee time on the 1st hole and never let us play through. There was no marshall to intervene. I have played a lot of bad golf courses, but the price tag typically matches the experience. If you are considering playing this chewed up patch of dirt, don't pay more than $10.

Please be aware that at least three holes (#1, #2, #16) when I played were reduced to par 3's because of the need to improve the fairway conditions. As mentioned by other reviewers, winter conditions played havoc with the fairways. There are currently a number of bare spots. The three holes mentioned have or will have sod placed and I'm assuming it will be a few weeks before those holes can return to their former conditions. Given the condition of other fairways, I'm assuming that this will be a rolling condition for this course in the weeks/months to come. It would be a good thing for FL to let potential patrons be aware of those conditions so they are not surprised when they show up. Fees should reflect that as well. As always, the layout is good. More mowing would be helpful in some areas. It's tough sometimes to find balls when the rough is as deep around the greens as it is. Love playing the course.

Course layout is nice, but three holes are playing as par 3 as they resod the fairways. I probably would’ve played elsewhere had I known that.

Winter freeze was unkind to the turf. Most greens and patches of fairways are dead.
