Frisco Lakes Golf Club
About
Frisco Lakes Golf Club is a part of the Del Webb Frisco Lakes Community, just north of Dallas. The front nine of the course is interwoven with the community itself while the back nine sprawls across open countryside. The five sets of tees range from just over 5,000 yards to just over 7,000 yards, allowing the golf course to be played as a leisurely round or a formidable test. The challenging, well maintained greens are the course's most memorable feature. Golfers should be prepared for a back-to-back peninsula green and island green on the seventh and eighth holes. The 14th is another tough water hole that runs alongside Lake Lewisville. Water is not the only hazard at Frisco Lakes Golf Club though, there are also plenty of strategically placed bunkers throughout.

Decent course, terrible accountability
Played this course with a friend as a 2 some, we played behind a 4 some that would not let us through. Typically when I’ve played here before the manager or a marshal is going around checking the course and the players. That didn’t happen this day and it took nearly 3 hours just to finish 9 holes. The greens were like putting through bunkers and they were still charging people $50 to play there. I’d normally recommend this course as I do enjoy it but from now on I’d make sure there is a marshal on the course and that the course itself is worth paying that price for.
Too expensive for course condition
It was not worth 750 for the conditions of the greens, Should charge about $30 until the get the greens fixed.
Also, I live in Frisco Lakes and mover here as residents could get tee times 10 days in advance. It's now down to 5 days. There is no advantage for residents.
Residents
When I first moved to Frisco Lakes residents could get tee times 10 days in advance. They changed it to 7 days and now it’s 5 days. Right now there is no advantage to being a resident..
Also, the greens are in terrible shape. I was told the greens were a little rough. Was that an understatement. It is not worth paying $50 for those conditions. Should reduce fees to about $30 until the course is in better condition.
Avoid! Patchy greens and short flagsticks
Played this course 3 or 4 times a year ago with the same friend and it was gorgeous and the greens rolled true.
We had a 3:00 tee time for $40, not bad value until we got to the greens. Worst bumpy/patchy greens I’ve ever played. Un-putt-able. Flag sticks were 3 feet high and the flags were utility flags, very small. Avoid this course at all costs until the greens improve and they realize that leaving the regular flagsticks in with a PVC ring is suitable for COVID precautions.
Unplayable greens
As review say these greens are unplayable. I can’t believe they charge normal rates. I went to pros hop asking them how they can fix. He just gave me a business card of owner. I emailed him. No reply.
Greens are in terrible condition
(According to the maintenance guys, the greens should be back in great shape by end of June.)
Otherwise the course was in good shape and very enjoyable. This course was one of the more expensive choices, and with the greens as bad as they current are, the price should have reflected that, or at minimum, there should have been a large notice about the condition of the greens. I would have chosen a different course for yesterday's golf.
Greens are in Terrible Condition
While the tee boxes and fairways were in good condition, the greens were the worst I had ever seen! They are full of sand, uneveness, new sod, and the flagsticks have been replaced with putting green flags. Not a word was said to us before the round
What a joke!
What in the world has happened to this course?
The greens? My god? Come on now.
Great course, poor condition
I’ve played a few times in the past and have enjoyed it. The greens were in really bad shape, but they’ve been better in the past. Great course layout, great staff and convenient location. A little TLC and it will be just fine.
Can't even give 1 star!
This course is in the worse shape I've ever seen. Ownership changed a few years back and it's been a steady decline ever since. The greens are diseased and covered with sand to hide how bad they really are. Weeds are found all over the course. Fairways aren't the worst, but some were so rock hard you wonder how that is possible with all the rain we've had. I just don't know what has happened here. You can't blame this all on the shutdown either. The course was in a steady decline prior to that. On top of all this, no notice is being given to the public on the state of the course. No discounts are being offered. They need to follow the actions of Stevens Park and just shut down the course for a few months, tear out and rebuild the greens. I'm guessing the course will be sold before that happens. SAM MOON SAVE THIS COURSE!
Not Priced Fairly
We were excited to get a tee time on a holiday weekend so first and foremost we were excited they let us play and use a cart during this pandemic period. They mentioned a few greens had root problems they were working through. Every green had problems. Big problems. They were left fuzzy to allow for growth and every roll had kind of a hop skip and run to it. All that would be fine if we were told that and if the greens fees had been adjusted. It was worth about $30 and we paid over twice that. Maybe they discourage visitors since this is a retirement community so maybe its semi private. It is nice and quiet out there with big wide fairways, few water hazards and a bunker here and there. It's nice and green too but the greens are a mess.
Terrible Greens and ripoff price
Played Frisco Lakes which has been one of my favorite tracks in the area around Plano, TX where I live. Love the layout. Hadn’t played in a while because of stay at home order ands was closed for a while. I was shocked at the condition of the greens. Was like putting on cobblestones. They need to dig them up and start over I also believe they just keep ripping propel off by not discounting the fees with the greens basically being unplayable. Although I would not spend even $20.00 to play this course now. Sure glad I don’t have a membership there as I would be extremely upset at the conditions.
Decent course, terrible greens
I’ve played Frisco Lakes a handful of times, and each time the greens have been in worse shape. Half of the green on the front nine had fresh sod laid. Mid-May in Texas should be prime conditioning for most courses. This experience was completely disappointing.
Course is in poor condition
Greens are terrible, dead grass, bumpy, impossible to get a good roll. Bunkers were redone last 2 years, sand is crusty and hard, very infrequently raked. Fairways have thin grass, is mowed too frequently, not adequate water and apparently fertilizer to promote good growth, cannot get good lie on the fairways. One of the more expensive golf courses in the area, not a good value.
Unplayable greens
Used to be one of my go to courses for Frisco area. Disease or poor care has ruined the greens and rendered them unplayable. I can’t believe they charge 70.00, it’s an absolute ripoff. Guy in the pro shop said they had just been “punched” but that was clearly not the case here. So not only are they bad caretakers they are dishonest when asked about conditions. Won’t be back
Awful Greens
Greens are in terrible shape and no one bothered to mention it to us when checking in. Beautiful course otherwise.
Terrible green complexes
Greens are in really bad shape. Everything else was fine.
Very slow food service. Took 35 minutes from order
Placed to food delivered at the turn.
Greens are not Good
I've played this course for nearly 10 years, and it's always been a good place to play. To start, they didn't show my reservation, and the gave me attitude about it. We asked for two carts, and they said no, but were giving two cars to others.
The tee boxes and fairways look good, but the greens are the worst I've ever seen. They have been completely mis-managed, and we ended up playing with the former Asst. GM, and he was just as disappointed as we were. We were never told about this condition.
It will be at least 6 months to a year to correct this issue, and we won't be back until them.
