Frisco Lakes Golf Club

Tricksy course layout with many blind shots. Luckily I played with seasoned members who told me whats what. There are a number of "we had to fit this hole here in this location so its weird" holes that focus your attention and entice you with massive risk/reward scenarios. The course plays shorter than its indicated 7129 yards.18 plays driver 8 iron, and its a par 5. 7 is 341 on the card, but plays 261 straight over the water as a par 4. 9 reads 556 on the card, but plays driver 7 iron. Most difficult hole is the 14th, a 251 yard par 3 (3 Hybrid). Youll hit a lot of irons off the box, but still need the driver for the scoring holes. The greens were just punched/top-dressed 2 weeks ago; I would say in three to four weeks they will roll true. Shot 73 with 2 birdies and an eagle, only because making a putt was nearly impossible as they are still quite bumpy. Any decent player should play from the tips.

Nice course, but the greens were not in good condition as they had been aerated recently. Definitely would not have played there if I had known. I think golfadvisor should have stated this when I booked the round.

We arrived to see a brown practice putting green. We hoped the rest of the course did not reflect the same conditions. In fact the greens had just beed aereated.

The course had cracks from lack of water in some faiways and a lot of places just off the fairway. On the number one tee the starter informed us that a man with his wife and child were in front of us. He also said the child six had his own clubs but he would not be playing all of the holes. It turned out that the pace of play was so slow the kid probably had time to play all 18. On most par 3s there were 3 groups waiting on the tee. When we made the turn there was a new foresome on the tee (behind the family) I asked them if they were starting on the back. They replied no it was their 2nd 9 but they had stopped to eat at the turn! After they finished their leisurely lunch the starter simply told them to continue. (the course had a smoker set up selling BBQ sandwhiches chips and drinks at the turn but I guess that was not good enough for these guys) So they continued their round in front of us. So there wer FIVE groups on hole 10 (a short par 4) at once. No course personnell in sight to assess the situation. On hole 11 a Marshall came by looking for a particular player. I asked what the hold up was ahead. I dunno, he said.

They charged full price for THOSE conditions. PLUS they did not have the courtesy to let their customers know as The Trails of Frisco did on the Golf Now website. The Trails had a Red Banner on Golf Now that read AEREATION ALERT. Cudos to them and SHAME on frisco lakes!

I will not be a customer of theirs.

Need to let public know when half the course is shut down.

Played it for the first time this past weekend, great course. Greens were a little bumpy. Would play again if in the area. And good recommend by the players I got paired up with on Sun at Twin Creeks in Allen.

Only hiccup was that GolfNow booked approx 5-7 players with the same tee time, but good thing the course was able to fit people in.

Course is in great shape. Grass is starting to grow and I hope they speed up the greens just a little. Fun course, but a little pricy.

As always, the course was in great shape. Their still renovating most of the bunkers, but no worries. The greens were fast and rolled well.

I've played here over a dozen times. If you're not one of the first tee times out. Be prepared to get stacked up by hole 4. Luckily the weather was amazing when I had my 930 am tee time, but it was again a 5 1/2+ hour round. On hole 10, we sat at the tee box for 20 minutes for the group ahead of us, waiting on a group ahead of them. With two additional groups stacking up behind us.

Course management does nothing to keep a steady pace, and books the tee times too close. Great course if you have all day to play.

Course was in great shape. Most of the bunkers are being renovated, but the greens were in great shape to offset. Get out before it gets too hot!!

I played here on a late Friday morning and was able to enjoy a beautiful day on a very well maintained golf course. There were 5 of us total so we understood that we needed to be split into 2 groups, but the young man working in the pro shop was very unaccommodating and insisted we play as a foursome and a single. Luckily, the starter worked it all out, and everyone else we came across that day was very pleasent. Fairways are green, the rough is light, and the greens firm, so putt well. Not a long course, but some shots will make you think. I would recommend this course to anyone in the area.

The course layout is great... plenty of challenge for a level of golfers. One key thing, look at the yardage of the tees that you want to play as the yardage is shorter than typical courses, ie the white tee boxes are shorter than at other DFW courses. I typically play white, but moved back to blue since the white distance was short. Before our round, we ate at the grill and the bartender that served us was extremely friendly. She provided great service. The Pro-Shop and starter experience was great. Very friendly and helpful in getting the round kicked off. We were paired with two women golfers from New York! That was a first for me and they made the round fun. I initially thought they were in early for the LPGA event being held next week and when one of the bombed a tee shot (from the whites BTW) I was sure of it! Around hole ten, our playing partners had a run in with the Female Marshall. The ladies were off the cart path by about ten feet on a hole where it was cart path only, clearly a violation of etiquette. The Marshall stated rudely to "really obey the cart path polices"... our new New York friend apologized several time and said it was the first time they have played the course. We rolled up afterward, and I jokingly said, "they are not with us". They reply I got was "well teach them right!" The play on the back was slower as we caught the group in front of us. When the Marshall caught up to us on 16, she stated that we needed to pick up play because we were a hole and a half behind. I thought we must had time warped because we literally had to wait before hitting our shots. When we got to the 17th tee box, we had to wait for the group in front to hit their second shots before we could tee. I was impressed with our ability to make up so much ground in a short period of time! Overall, it was about a 4 hour round including a stop for eats/relief after nine. With the exception of the Marshall events, it was a great day at a great course. I will return again.

Staff, great * Course, always green and healthy. Bunkers renovation, however I was lucky none landed in bunkers anyway! Always a pleasure and positive experiences here. Great for novices and very helpful staff about the rules.
