Interactive touchscreen -- distances to front/back of hazards, greens, etc. Touch a spot to get other specific distances. NICE! Photo submitted by GordonATX on 11/05/2013

Looking out on #2 Fairway Photo submitted by walt02554 on 08/25/2013
Challenging and demanding course
My friend and I played with unusually warm weather The greens were fast but played fairly. This course demands good management of position and there are some blind shots. Have some balls as wayward shots can result in lost balls. Some undulating greens can cost strokes easily if played downhill. Very good time, pace of play excellent finished in little over 3.5 hrs. Staff friendly and helpful with bags, cleaned clubs before and after, good directions to range, 1st tee. GPS top of the line.
Overpriced course, not worth the $$$$$
Course in good shape but not worth the price and the drive from Austin. Lots of other courses you can play in Austin for way cheaper and in the same or better shape (Star Ranch). Only reason i played here was a cheap hotdeal and booked at the last minute but this place is way overpriced.
Great secluded course
The only negative thing was that they have that crab grass on the collars that all courses seem to have right now. I thought a course of that caliber would have sprayed and killed it. Food shack was closed so couldn't truly rate it.
Play this course
If you don't want to drive over an hour from Cedar Creek to play a round, this is the best choice in Bastrop. Yes, it will cost you, but it is a well maintained, well run facility. The greens, fairways, and amenities are on par with most resort courses in the $125 - $195 range. The only reason to not ay this track is if you can't afford it.
I play only private courses in my home state of FL and this is a course I would come back to play again.
Great course, avg shape for turf, poor bunkers
Have played course 10-12 times over the years. Love the layout, condition was suspect on tee boxes and traps were not good. Fairways were very good, greens were mostly good.
So so but beautiful landscapes
For a 140-200 course, bunkers and greens in rough shape right now
Hidden gem
Greens were not typical for this course.. Hot Texas summer makes the conditions difficult to maintain
Course staff was exceptional. Great layout and always enjoyable to play
What has happened to the course?
Look I know that it's the summer time, but this course used to be in so much better shape. Some of the greens were pretty rough, not consistent, the tee boxes looked like poop. I've played in Bastrop for $20 before and most of that course was St. Augustine for the fringe around the greens. I knew what I was getting mself into there.
I did not expect to see that for a course that was $120 at 3:40pm. I would recommend to management to get more involved with the course, because I've played this course before and didn't mind paying that price, but right now is not the time to be really proud of the course. I will not be back again until the Spring and hope that the team can get the course back to its finer days.
Best Course in Austin
Wolfdancer is theBEST course in Austin and in Central Texas! No questions!
First time at Wolfdancer
Unfortunately the greens were punched recently and were slow and bumpy. The bunkers were also in poor shape. Teeing areas grass was too long. I liked the course outside of the condition. Might be fun. Wasn’t worth the money.
Overpriced and under maintained greens and tee boxes
I really want to love Wolfdancer and there are certain aspects of it that I really like. The staff at the club house, drivers of the beverage cart, rangers, etc. are all extremely nice, top notch service. The course layout is extremely challenging and I love that there are no houses out on the course. You really feel away from it all when playing here aside from the last few holes on the course that put you near the resort guests and pool...no biggie.
But...my biggest issues with the course are the tee boxes which were not maintained...we were essentially teeing our balls up in the "rough" - that's how long the grass was. Also, the greens are not in acceptable shape EVER. They're ALWAYS punched and sandy. I've played this course 4 times this year (2022), once in May, once in June, and twice in August -- the greens are always in the same dilapidated conditions, punched and sandy. You never get true rolls.
I've held off on reviewing Wolfdancer until I played here multiple times because I really want to love it here...there's so much potential. It could be the nicest publically accessible course in Austin, but when you factor in the cost of the round, the undermaintained greens and tee boxes, and the gas that it takes to drive all the way out there...it's honestly not worth visiting.
I hope reviews like this will spark some attention and investment in what could be an amazing, top notch course.
Not on Par
Bunkers are in poor condition. Mostly dirt.
Green's were slow in recovery after over three plus weeks ago of aerification.
Tee boxes loaded with Crabgrass.
Just not the standard of a Hyatt course.
