Heritage Ranch Golf and Country Club
About
Heritage Ranch serves up an especially challenging par 72, 6,988-yard Arthur Hills design that rolls through the oaks and pecans just outside of Fairview. And while it’s part of a gated, active-adult residential community, the course is open to the public and especially fun because it integrates well with the neighborhood. Houses line some fairways, but a fair number of holes provide that natural, rural feel that is always so welcome on a golf course.
While the course is not particularly demanding off the tees, the real challenge at Heritage Ranch comes from the mound-shaped greens. If your irons aren’t dialed in, you’ll be working hard for ups and downs.
No. 1 is a unique opener because it bends left down to a fairway and green that aren’t visible from the tee. Big drives can get close, but the recommended play is to take a long iron and draw it over the hill.
The par 5s on the front are nice holes. No. 3 doglegs right and requires a good tee shot, followed by a relatively easy second shot into a widening fairway toward the hole. The trick is nailing the short iron (almost a blind shot) into the elevated green guarded by bunkers on the front. No. 7 is longer and offers a good chance for birdie, again because of its wide-open nature.
No. 16 is the signature hole: a par 3 masterpiece that plays along a natural spring waterfall. You’ll need to nail a long iron over the valley and avoid the trees that overhang the fairway from the right.
No. 18 is a good finisher–it’s a long par 4 that doglegs left around a few large fairway bunkers, then works its way uphill to an elevated, mound-shaped green surrounded by bunkers. Ups and downs are possible here if you miss the green back left, which is easy to do when you approach with a fairway wood.
Getting there : Only 20 miles northeast of Dallas, take I-75 north to the Stacy Road exit, then turn right and drive to the dead end. The road jogs to the left, then right, and continues as Stacy Road. The entrance is 2 miles down on the left.

great couse
we thoroughly enjoyed our round of golf on a beautiful day and beautiful course.
Sandy Greens
Always have enjoyed playing this course. Today the greens were sanded, ball still rolled ok. Some greens faster than others but ok overall. Wind picked up at the longest holes which made it difficult to get on for a birdie. Fairways were ok, but were mostly dry and hard. Would always go back either way. Nice course!!
This course is great! Highly recommend it for all players
If you're shot is a fade then you will LOVE this course because the majority of the par 4's and 5's set-up well for fades. Hole 1 layout is a downhill blind shot and if your drive lands on the left side of the downhill the green is reachable! Going towards the trees on the right is no bueno. However, even though it's a little bit out of the way (from Dallas) it seems this gem is played by every golfer from Fairview/Lovejoy/Allen because this course gets surprisingly busy. Still, it was an extremely fun round and I highly recommend this course to ALL!
Fun
Course was fun to play, the par 3s are long.
Character
A lot of different hole layouts with altitude changes, wide fairways but several where you have to thread the needle. Greens during summer I can't tell have grain effect so you just need to read the slope, winter play grain has more of an effect. Elevated and protected greens make par a challenge for the casual golfer.
Must-play course in north Texas
Very nice course that presents variety of challenges - layout, green, par 3's - especially if you tee off from the tip. Greens are genuine with consistent roll and slope. I'd love to play the course at prime season if a reasonable deal is available.
From Seniors that don't live there.
I really like the layout of the course. We usually play white tees at most courses as we did here. It was around 6500 yds. A little long from those tees for us over 70. Next time I will move up a tee or so. Great course conditions. Very friendly staff everywhere. Clubhouse and amenities upscale from most facilities. We found a deal for $42. Great value for that. I want to go back.
Great course
This is one of the nicest golf courses around the metroplex. The greens are always good and the course is in great shape. I will definitely be back.
Fast Greens
Course is well maintained and is normally in good shape. When it comes to this courses pace of play, it is feast or famine. If you are behind some of the members it can be a very long day. I really enjoy the course but if you are looking for a quick round you may want to look somewhere else. The fairways are pretty wider than you would expect in a community. A great course!
let er rip!
This is a very enjoyable golf course. Fairways are WIDE so you can let the dog eat! Do yourself a favor and spend time on the putting green. These greens are SLICK. Anything not in the center of the cup or at the right pace will lip out. Definitely the most challenging aspect of the course. A lot of fun but don't get stuck behind the community members - they will not let anyone play through. I was stuck behind a foursome as a single for most of the back nine. They had almost 2 holes open in front of them but they couldn't have cared less. Luckily I had nowhere to go and all day to do it, so...
Meh
60 dollars for a weekday rate. Course was kinda burnt up. Greens didn't have a weed in them but they did not hold well at all and were rediculously fast. I did not enjoy this course.
Nice golf in the country
Came to the course and was quickly assigned to a nice group of members to tee off. Range was not available until later which was unfortunate. Holes are nicely laid out and multiple tees allows for different abilities to enjoy. Fairways were brown although some parts were over watered. Greens were sanded but very good regardless. Enjoyed the company and would play again when in a little better condition.
Slow play today
The course and staff are excellent and I really enjoy the course. This is the forth time I have played the course and unfortunately the last.
The pace of play is such that I have never finished a round due to the slow pace of play. I am patient and happy to go with the flow but the course membership is very slow and on this occasion i had people playing balls into my play as they were getting bored with the pace. On Sunday we had 2 waiting on the tee with 2 on the course waiting for the green to clear.
On a final note the security guard at the gate was the most rude individual I have met whilst I have been here in Texas.
"Arthur Hills Beauty"
This course was outstanding. I would rate it at the top in the Dallas area. The greens were very fast and a little tricky.
They have 6 different tee boxes for various skill levels. This is one of the finest courses that I have played in Texas bar none.
Excellent Arthur Hills track.
Challenging course with creative use of trees on several approaches. Course always in great condition. More elevation variation than typical of North Texas courses. Par threes are a strength of course. All-in-all a very enjoyable experience.
Great course
Love this course, it has a little bit of everything. Tight fairways to really wide landing areas. Uphill and downhill shots. Obstacles where ball placement is crucial such as huge pecan trees and plenty of bunkers. Greens are very fast and takes some getting use to. Not to mention it is very beautiful and well taken care of. I would suggest to anyone to play there.
Finally got to,play this course
Been trying to get out to play this course for quite a while now. Overall, a great course. The greens are a bit tricky, but I chalk that up to being unfamiliar with the course. I played from the middle tees (Bronze)due to being the first time. The 2nd White tees would have been fine as well. Not too certain about the staff in the pro shop as they seemed a little abrupt. Since this is a gated community, be prepared to have to stop at the gatehouse and be provided with a visitor's pass for the car.
Overall, a very good course that had a very fair layout.
Loved the course.
Great assortment of challenging holes with some of the best, fastest Bermuda grass greens I've played in a long time. A bit of a hike to get there but well worth the effort. We'll be back very soon.
Heritage Ranch
Played here with my father-in-law on a Saturday afternoon and we couldn't have had a better time! Course was wide open and we finished our round in 3 hours and 40 minutes. The course was in great shape as well. I would highly recommend playing here! It is a hidden gem and well worth the money!
Heritage Ranch
This is a diamond in the rough! I love this course and it is a great deal for the price! Pace of play is great and everyone is friendly! I play every weekend and I am always looking for challenging courses and this one is pretty challenging for the first time! The course is in great shape and I will be back!
