Heritage Ranch Golf and Country Club
About
Heritage Ranch serves up an especially challenging par 72, 6,988-yard Arthur Hills design that rolls through the oaks and pecans just outside of Fairview. And while it’s part of a gated, active-adult residential community, the course is open to the public and especially fun because it integrates well with the neighborhood. Houses line some fairways, but a fair number of holes provide that natural, rural feel that is always so welcome on a golf course.
While the course is not particularly demanding off the tees, the real challenge at Heritage Ranch comes from the mound-shaped greens. If your irons aren’t dialed in, you’ll be working hard for ups and downs.
No. 1 is a unique opener because it bends left down to a fairway and green that aren’t visible from the tee. Big drives can get close, but the recommended play is to take a long iron and draw it over the hill.
The par 5s on the front are nice holes. No. 3 doglegs right and requires a good tee shot, followed by a relatively easy second shot into a widening fairway toward the hole. The trick is nailing the short iron (almost a blind shot) into the elevated green guarded by bunkers on the front. No. 7 is longer and offers a good chance for birdie, again because of its wide-open nature.
No. 16 is the signature hole: a par 3 masterpiece that plays along a natural spring waterfall. You’ll need to nail a long iron over the valley and avoid the trees that overhang the fairway from the right.
No. 18 is a good finisher–it’s a long par 4 that doglegs left around a few large fairway bunkers, then works its way uphill to an elevated, mound-shaped green surrounded by bunkers. Ups and downs are possible here if you miss the green back left, which is easy to do when you approach with a fairway wood.
Getting there : Only 20 miles northeast of Dallas, take I-75 north to the Stacy Road exit, then turn right and drive to the dead end. The road jogs to the left, then right, and continues as Stacy Road. The entrance is 2 miles down on the left.

Great layout
Fast greens, and golf course was in great shape.
PGA Quality
The facilities are excellent. The pace of play is very good, not rushed. The course layout is great. The greens are extremely fast running at PGA speeds. If you have breakfast in the clubhouse its like being at a resort in Palm Springs, CA.
Try Heritage Ranch and bring your "A" game.
Great course layout!
I was a few minutes late for my tee time but the staff was friendly enough to let me go out. This was my first time playing this course and I was very pleased. The course was in very good shape and had some nice holes. The greens were pretty fast even though they were punched recently. I would definitely play again.
Great Course
This is an excellent golf course that is a must play if you are in the area!
Hidden gem
Keep in mind it was 99 degrees and i was greeted with cart path only upon arrival.
Exceeded every expectation, layout and condition were fabulous. Greens had recently been punched but didn't affect roll as they were well sanded and already starting to recover.
Don't pass this up if your in the area and have an opportunity to play!
Hot Deal
Great round and course was in great condition for recent rains. Greens ran a little slower than the practice green, which took a few holes to make the adjustment. Everything else was great.
Fabulous!
Everything was great! Conditions, pace and staff. We got behind a slower group, however the Marshall did his job, and the course expects a 4 hour pace. The Par 3 holes are tremendous especially from the tips.
Going to get my normal Saturday group out there very soon!
Excellent conditions
This is the second time I've played Heritage Range and it didn't disappoint. The course was in outstanding shape and was mostly dry considering all the rain we've had in the past month. The greens were perfect and were quick. The pace of play was good (just under 4 hours for 3 of us). This is now one of my favorite courses in the DFW area.
Great track. Definitely worth checking out.
I have always enjoyed playing this course. Found a great deal online and gave it a try again. Great condition and great Golf Course staff. Only complaint would be the bunkers were a little inconsistent but that is because of all the rain we have had recently so I'm sure they will get that squared away soon. You should definitely give this course a try. Always seems to be in great condition. Fantastic layout as well. Keep up the good work Heritage Ranch.
Bring Your Short Game
One of my favorite courses, more so if your chipping and putting are on. The greens are undulating, fast, and often elevated. Conditions were softened by earlier rain or would have been even more challenging. The fairways were tight making approach shots difficult but a few weeks of warm weather will help. The course gives shot options and makes you think about every shot.
great couse
we thoroughly enjoyed our round of golf on a beautiful day and beautiful course.
Sandy Greens
Always have enjoyed playing this course. Today the greens were sanded, ball still rolled ok. Some greens faster than others but ok overall. Wind picked up at the longest holes which made it difficult to get on for a birdie. Fairways were ok, but were mostly dry and hard. Would always go back either way. Nice course!!
This course is great! Highly recommend it for all players
If you're shot is a fade then you will LOVE this course because the majority of the par 4's and 5's set-up well for fades. Hole 1 layout is a downhill blind shot and if your drive lands on the left side of the downhill the green is reachable! Going towards the trees on the right is no bueno. However, even though it's a little bit out of the way (from Dallas) it seems this gem is played by every golfer from Fairview/Lovejoy/Allen because this course gets surprisingly busy. Still, it was an extremely fun round and I highly recommend this course to ALL!
Fun
Course was fun to play, the par 3s are long.
Character
A lot of different hole layouts with altitude changes, wide fairways but several where you have to thread the needle. Greens during summer I can't tell have grain effect so you just need to read the slope, winter play grain has more of an effect. Elevated and protected greens make par a challenge for the casual golfer.
Must-play course in north Texas
Very nice course that presents variety of challenges - layout, green, par 3's - especially if you tee off from the tip. Greens are genuine with consistent roll and slope. I'd love to play the course at prime season if a reasonable deal is available.
From Seniors that don't live there.
I really like the layout of the course. We usually play white tees at most courses as we did here. It was around 6500 yds. A little long from those tees for us over 70. Next time I will move up a tee or so. Great course conditions. Very friendly staff everywhere. Clubhouse and amenities upscale from most facilities. We found a deal for $42. Great value for that. I want to go back.
Great course
This is one of the nicest golf courses around the metroplex. The greens are always good and the course is in great shape. I will definitely be back.
Fast Greens
Course is well maintained and is normally in good shape. When it comes to this courses pace of play, it is feast or famine. If you are behind some of the members it can be a very long day. I really enjoy the course but if you are looking for a quick round you may want to look somewhere else. The fairways are pretty wider than you would expect in a community. A great course!
let er rip!
This is a very enjoyable golf course. Fairways are WIDE so you can let the dog eat! Do yourself a favor and spend time on the putting green. These greens are SLICK. Anything not in the center of the cup or at the right pace will lip out. Definitely the most challenging aspect of the course. A lot of fun but don't get stuck behind the community members - they will not let anyone play through. I was stuck behind a foursome as a single for most of the back nine. They had almost 2 holes open in front of them but they couldn't have cared less. Luckily I had nowhere to go and all day to do it, so...
