About

Holes 18
Type Public/Resort
Par 72
Length 6988 yards
Slope 138
Rating 80.2

Heritage Ranch serves up an especially challenging par 72, 6,988-yard Arthur Hills design that rolls through the oaks and pecans just outside of Fairview. And while it’s part of a gated, active-adult residential community, the course is open to the public and especially fun because it integrates well with the neighborhood. Houses line some fairways, but a fair number of holes provide that natural, rural feel that is always so welcome on a golf course.

While the course is not particularly demanding off the tees, the real challenge at Heritage Ranch comes from the mound-shaped greens. If your irons aren’t dialed in, you’ll be working hard for ups and downs.

No. 1 is a unique opener because it bends left down to a fairway and green that aren’t visible from the tee. Big drives can get close, but the recommended play is to take a long iron and draw it over the hill.

The par 5s on the front are nice holes. No. 3 doglegs right and requires a good tee shot, followed by a relatively easy second shot into a widening fairway toward the hole. The trick is nailing the short iron (almost a blind shot) into the elevated green guarded by bunkers on the front. No. 7 is longer and offers a good chance for birdie, again because of its wide-open nature.

No. 16 is the signature hole: a par 3 masterpiece that plays along a natural spring waterfall. You’ll need to nail a long iron over the valley and avoid the trees that overhang the fairway from the right.

No. 18 is a good finisher–it’s a long par 4 that doglegs left around a few large fairway bunkers, then works its way uphill to an elevated, mound-shaped green surrounded by bunkers. Ups and downs are possible here if you miss the green back left, which is easy to do when you approach with a fairway wood.

Getting there : Only 20 miles northeast of Dallas, take I-75 north to the Stacy Road exit, then turn right and drive to the dead end. The road jogs to the left, then right, and continues as Stacy Road. The entrance is 2 miles down on the left.

Tough, but in good shape

This course is in very nice shape. The greens were true , but fast which gave me a few problems. It was windy the day I was there so some of the holes played long.
I will definitely go back to this course.

Staff is serious about golf.

Staff actively patrols golf course to me sure an acceptable pace of play is maintained. Fairways were lush, greens were fairly fast. A couple of fairways needed to be mowed, lack of mowing was probably due to the recent rains but you had to hunt for the ball in the fairway.

Course in good shape

Played for the first time. Course in good shape considering the rain. Greens are challenging but not tough. Fairways were in good shape as well. Need to know your distances with your clubs. Some of the greenside bunkers are very deep. Would play again...

Sleeper!

Great value! Great course on fantastic property. Facilities were clean and new appearing. Staff was friendly. Course conditions were better than expected. Two holes were not great, but that was expected due to the course being under water less than two weeks ago. Great experience, great golf.

Good Course, tricky holes. Play with someone that knows the course.

Course is still repairing damage from the floods. Only one hole was shorten to a par 3. A little dusty on the paths from flooding. Greens are starting to dry out. Fairways have been mowed a couple of times so no clumps of grass.

This course in great condition.

This facility is well worth the money. The members we played with were a delight. Course is in great condition for this early in season, greens were running about 9 on stemp scale. Grass on the greens will need a few more weeks to settle in for full coverage.

C.C course for Muni price

If you don't mind making the drive this is probably the best bang for your buck in the area. Some of the prettiest holes I've played in North Texas. The greens are dormant so very quick right now but rolling true. Don't expect a whole lot of southern hospitality here, they reserve that for the private members.

solid test of golf

Course is a good test with some challenging holes. While the Bermuda greens are dormant, they're by far the fastest and firmest around. Wow!

Had a tournament which made tee time changed by 30 minutes started on 14th because of this otherwise nice day course in good shape this was my first time at a course in Texas so not sure about if all courses spray paint the greens not used to it

Challenging layout

This course was fun to play. Greens were excellent. The only negative was that the tee boxes were wet and had not been mowed which affected some tee shots.

Great course

Great course to play. Don't have any complains about the course, the staff, or the facilities. My round lasted nearly 5 hours with 4 people but we played the back tees and got stuck behind a slow foursome. Greens were semi receptive and fast. Loved the fast greens!

Plenty of room and fun at Heritage Ranch

I'm not always a fan of Arthur Hills designs, but Heritage Ranch is certainly one of his most player-friendly layouts. Some of the fairways at Heritage Ranch are 100 yards wide or wider and the if you miss a green, you can usually recover, unlike many of Hills' other designs. Still, scoring isn't super easy. The greens aren't easy to read and there are some tough pin positions. Overall, however, the course is very enjoyable and in terrific condition. Plus, the clubhouse, practice facilities and staff are all top notch.
