Waterview Golf Club
About
Rowlett’s first course has been laid out over a flat range of pasture, supplemented by 15 acres of lakes and over 1,000 new trees. Designed to be hacker friendly, the lack of mature trees provide an especially generous look and feel, tempting the mid-level handicapper to tee it up from the 7,191 yard tips and go long off the tee. Bent greens are the highlight of the round here–they roll true and provide solid opportunities to snake in a few long putts.
Getting there : Off of I-30 exit Dalrock Rd. and drive north through Hwy. 66. A half-mile past 66 veer left on Princeton, which dead-ends at Liberty Grove. Turn right into the Waterview division and take Waterview Pkwy. to the clubhouse

Incompetent Marshals/ un-level tee boxes
It took just under 3 hours to get through 9 holes. There are Marshals on the course, but they are really just paid spectators than Marshals. It is extremely slow and they do nothing about it. When confronted the marshal informed me they get 5 minutes per shot per USGA rules, to which I replied that is for lost balls. If they don't fix their pace of play issues they are going to start losing players.
The other major issue they need to address are their tee boxes. about a third of their tees are crowned and significantly sloped. Who doesn't like hitting a side hill lie when they tee off?
Raking the dirt traps more than once a month would help as well. Emphasis on dirt as you will be hard pressed to find sand in any of the hazards.
No.
No, i will not play this course again. Not because the course was in horrible condition or because the staff was unfriendly or any other reason that a negative review SHOULD be written. Im compelled to write this review for one reason that should never be an issue in the great game of golf. The reason i wont play this course again is because the way the game has always been played and what makes this game special to me is not honored here. Waterview forces one to drive a cart by charging the same fee whether you walk or not. The sacred connection between humanity and nature and the serenity and calm inherent in taking a scenic walk on a golf course are not valued here. I will not return because if i wanted a loud, fast paced, stressed out, rush of an experience i would have stayed in traffic on my way home.
Course in great shape for winter
Course in great shape for winter
Good course
The course was in pretty good shape considering we played in the middle of winter. Didn't have any food hence the low rating there.
Hit It Short and Let It Roll!!!
I really like this course. Pace of play is usually really good. But today is was really over-booked, plus one foursome refused to let us play through, even though there were two holes empty in front of them. Saw two marshals who did nothing. Finally, drove around them.
Lots of dead spots on the greens, some big, some small. The greens still rolled smoothly though...but fast as lightning, and a bit hard. Nothing wanted to stay on unless your shot was REALLY elevated. Fairways and tee boxes are in good shape. The addition of some bunkers and especially 10's new pond on the left of the green, have been interesting to maneuver. The starter was really friendly and helpful. The dude who checked us in could a use a little bit more personality. By the time we figured out not to aim at the flag, and apply that knowledge appropriately, it was pretty much too late on the scorecard. You will like this course.
SAD SAD SAD
It is impossible to describe the horrid condition of these greens literally 40 to 50 unrepaired divots on every green. which is sad because the overall course was pretty nice but the greens make the course completely unplayable save your money for a course that cares This is not the place to play
No Reservation
I made a tee time reservation through Golfnow and received a confirmation e-mail. However when I showed up at the course 40 min prior to my start time, I was told they had no reservation for me. I offered to show them my e-mail reservation on my iPhone but they said it didn't matter. They had no reservation and they had a senior tournament on the course. My tee time was for 10 AM. They eventually got me on the course at 10:30.
The bunkers were in terrible shape due to heavy rains earlier in the week.
So basically Golfnow charged me $2+ for nothing.

Jerry Powlen
Sunday
The Green Fee included Breakfast and Lunch! Great Bargain as the course is in good condition.
good bang for your buck
Got a great hot deal rate. They even throw in lunch
one of best deals in town. Will echo previous reviews that the greens are getting rough due to golfers not fixing divots. The greens are otherwise in good shape for mid August. Might want to play it forward if the wind is blowing.
Waterview
This course has always been a favorite of mine! I play here quite often and would highly recommend this course! Note to other golfers out there: it is our responsibility to fix the ball marks on the greens! When you hit a shot into the green and leaves a ball mark...FIX IT!!!
Great Course
Course in great shape. Very pleased. Will play it again soon.
Good course, not in great shape.
I played at waterview on 7/26. It is summer in Texas, but it seems like they aren't watering enough. Lots of dead grass, cracks, etc. it has rained a lot this year and the other courses we play don't look this burned. The greens used to be very nice, but are pretty rough right now. They were fuzzy, slow, and bumpy. This place needs to teach a class on divot repair to their customers. Overall it's a fun course though. Greens did bite well, and I spent a lot of time fixing other people's fresh ball marks . And as long as you get a decent deal on the tee time, it's worth it. Definitely not a $50-60 course in my mind.
Waterview
Average Joe needs to take better care of the bent greens. Course was in good shape and a stiff south wind made it a nice challenge. Also, the course made a few changes since I was last there. A pond in front of 10 green and several added/expanded bunkers were a nice improvement.
Good deal in the Dallas area
We played it for the first time on 7/3 and the playing pace was really slow. The layout is very interesting with plenty on water around and open well maintained fairways. The greens were well cut but had many non repaired divots. In the overall was a pleasant experience that we would like to repeat.
An Average Golfer's Paradise
The course is not too difficult. But it has some spots where you can get yourself into trouble if you are not careful. A good course for everybody. Maybe too tough for a first time golfer, but still not too hard for a person who occasionally plays. While also being tough enough for a good golfer too be in some situations.
Great Course
Course is in great shape and is a good test of golf. Great experience. We will be back.
Fantastic Value
With all of the spring rain, this course could not be in better shape. Fairways perfect...short first cut...and greens as smooth as silk and fast.
Every employee we interacted with could not have been friendlier and more willing to assist. Genuinely glad to see you.
Clubhouse was comfortable and stayed consistently busy. Food was actually good! Handmade vs tossed out the back of a Sysco truck into the microwave.
All of this for what may be the best value in the Dallas area. $35 for the round with cart...breakfast AND lunch including two drinks and range balls. Are you kidding me?
Waterview may be my new home course. Give them a shot!
Driest course in the DFW!
Best draining course in Dallas on top of that two meals and a beer with your green fee. Best kept secret in the DFW. Greens are pure and fast just like I like them.
Great value
The golf was excellent, friendly staff, and the included lunch special made this a wonderful golf day. I will play again and again.
