About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 03/2019.
The Country Club of Orange Park provides a scenic challenge with a diverse landscape of protected wetlands and towering oak trees. There is also a bird sanctuary that runs along the entire right side of the first five holes, offering golfers a glimpse of the wildlife that inhabit the golf course including wild turkeys, deer, and osprey. The layout features tree-lined fairways and large greens. The golf course has a more traditional feel with tees and fairways that were cut close to the greens, resulting in a narrow field of play. There is water on 14 holes and bunkers strategically placed around the greens.

Extremely Slow Play
Played on Saturday (mistake) 5/11/13. Course was overcrowded. No monitoring of course by rangers. Each hole was fully loaded with groups and there was no hope in finishing the round after turning 9 in 3 hours and 10 minutes. The 2 par 5's we played had 4 groups on each time. We quit after the 11th, and rode ahead from 11th through the 18th only to find the entire course was log jammed to the max. I will not return for weekend play here again! Greens were slow with old holes and only in fair shape. I have played this course many times before and was extremely disappointed with this recent visit. The tee times need more spacing and course monitoring would be helpful.
Amazing experience
Mid day tee time following a tournament. Staff was very friendly even for being so busy. When asking for a bag of range balls, they were out. A staff member made a call to the cart shop and had someone get us a bag just as we were loading the cart at no charge. Fantastic customer service and the course was in amazing shape for just finishing a tournament. Can't wait to have time to play this course again.
beware of crocs ;-)
A lovely course with challenging but fair holes. Two things should be improved: There are no teebox markers, so you have to search for the distance marks on the ground, and there are no signboards or other aids to know the direction of the faiways and sometimes hidden bunkers or water hazards. It's quite annoying to make a good shot only to learn that it ends up in water...
mainly good condition
Fairways were in good condition. Several greens were too sandy and rough. Over all, not a great course, but good enough for a 10 handicap player.
lots grass in fairways good to hit off of
greens was good fairways has lots of grass over all fun course
Great golfing experience for the money
Good variety of tees for every skill level. I'm a 12 handicap and played a combination of blue/white tees. Well maintained scenic setting. Not tricked up so playing it the first time is enjoyable. Dollar beers and good brats at the halfway house.
Water not as much in play as was expected
Enjoyable course to play from the whites with only a couple of carries over water/wetlands that were challenging. Only problem was our twosome caught up to an elderly foursome on Hole 8 that turned a 3 hour round into one over 4 hours without an offer to play thru. We compained to the proshop after the round and they said we should have called them and they would have sent someone out.
Excellent Greens
I thought the greens were in the best condition of most of our local courses. I always like the layout and variety of holes here at OPCC
I enjoyed playing the course, it was fun to play
The course was in very good condition, the people were friendly and enjoyed the challenge.
This course has nice little setup.
I played after a storm had passed through. The course was set to have a tournament that was canceled. So i had the course just about all to myself. Even with all the rain course was in good shape. Greens were quick. It's nice course that i enjoy playing.
Consistency in presentation represents great value.
Very nice course to suit all abilities, very well maintained, excellent practice facilities and clubhouse prices that will not break the bank. A couple of greens not quite up to par but improving with weather. I would recommend this course and put it on my fav list for year round consistency and better than average practice facilities.
Good enough if you are just looking to play a round
Found a great rate on this course and I've been curious about it for awhile. First off let me say that I'm not too critical of a reviewer and for the most part today was perfect, I was playing golf! The good parts: everyone was very friendly, even other guys on the range were chatty and acted as if we were old friends. Big thank you to the starter, I was told by the proshop to wait on a last minute twosome; however, when I got ready on #1 we began to talk and I told her I was feeling anti-social becaue of a stressful week at work. She let me start and I'm not sure if the other two even made it. Course was in decent shape, some tee boxes were sandy and in need of attention, but most were fine. A few greens were sandy and missing turf which it caused a few putts to go crazy, but again, most were nice. Most fairways were a bit on the hard side with troubled spots in places, but they were playable.
Con: I was so mad at the end of my round I may not play here again. There are surprise water hazards everywhere!! I asked for a layout before leaving the clubhouse but was told they did not have one. Score cards did not show it, neither did signs at tee boxes. Some areas you can see and play them accordingly, but many you cannot. Many times I I hit a great drive and/or iron, only to find my ball sitting in the water (or never find my ball at all). I don't normally lose balls so I spend the extra money on quality one's. I may have gotten a great rate on the course, but that was negated by the water hazards. On the par-4 18th water bi-sects the fairway, but you can't see it from the tee box. Hit a long drive and thought I was in perfect position to finish strong, nope...water got it again. Didn't even want to finish at that point. Left very frustrated.
In the end I got to play a round so it was money well spent. I may not play here as a single again, but would recommend it if someone got a good deal on a round.
Great Course - a little backed up
Overall, very happy with play on 3/30. The course was well maintained and the pace of play was a little slow (took about 5 hours to complete).
couple of greens need attention but overall course is in good condition.
course over all is in good condition. Worth the trip.
Nice course, good condition.
I played Orange Park Country Club on a Twilight Golf Now time. The staff was extra friendly and hardly anyone was on the course. The distance on this course seemed much longer than what was stated. Conditions were very favorable and I found the course to be challenging. Nearly all greens were in excellent shape. Overall, great experience and I will definately play here again.
Interesting Golf Course with some challenging holes
Played on a holiday and course was packed, hence a bit slow. Staff was very friendly. The course is a mixture of easy and difficult holes (blue tees), hence golf course knowledge helps. Some greens need attention but overall in a good shape for February.
This course is challenging but fair
The course was in great shape. The pace of play was wonderful, no waiting on any tee.
The senior discount price is right.
The greens are very fast even though some have been punched full and some partially and some not at all. A lot of grass and topsoil areas around tee boxes and greens washed away. It takes away from the beauty of the course.
