Palatka Golf Club
About
Neighbor to the beautiful Ravine State Gardens, Palatka Golf Club offers a game that is as scenic as it is entertaining. Designed by Donald Ross in 1925, the golf course was created with all skill levels of golfers in mind. The layout is player friendly, but there are still many challenging elements to keep golfers on their toes, including Ross' signature "turtleback" greens. There are also numerous bunkers fiercely guarding the greens. The signature hole of the course is the par-3 third. This 188-yard hole is a test of accuracy, requiring a difficult tee shot to a well bunkered green. Palatka Golf Club also offers a unique aqua driving range for golfers to use.

Nice course for an easy round of Golf
After two years of not playing this course i was there with friends. And i was really astonished, how the course has been improved. Although the hurricaine showed some results, the most parts were in a good shape, the greens are ok for this time of the year. Some bunkers could be better. And the Donald Ross Layout is special, makes the course interesting to play. For our wifes the Teeboxes were sometimes too far in front, not challenging ( HCP 20 )
Anyhow we will return to Palatka.
if your a city resident your fine
i quit this course some yrs. ago when they had a management change they decided if you were,nt from there city that you should go somewere else
i book a tee time to see how things were now & was charged $4.00 extra per player because we were out of town.
the best thing i saw was we had the course to our selfs maybe if they treated out of so called towners better they would have more bussness
i,m not the only that feels this way i have other friends who won,t play there any more for same reasons
i,m just old and grumpy
Course has great features
Overall we enjoyed our round . Good golfing experience.
great course
Love this course and have played here several times. It is a beautiful course, very scenic. Sadly they lost one of my favorite live oak trees to Matthew :( Usually not crowded so it is very low key and you don't feel rushed. Brought our 8 and 12 year old grandsons to play here last month before school started and we all had a ball.
A quiet day in the country
Overall the course is in decent playing shape - a few greens have damaged areas but they still roll true and there was maintenance people trying to fix the problems.
Palatka golf
This the third time I have played at this course and have been impressed with overall conditions of the course. Have played early morning and afternoon and was never pushed or had to wait on golfers. Greens in good condition overall especially considering the lack of rain we have had. Great "hot deals" prices for this course. About a 40 minute drive from Green Cove Springs but worth the trip.
AWESOME way to ENJOY a day of golf5.
PALATKA GOLF COURSE CONTINUES TO IMPROVE EACH DAY. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED and you WILL WANT TO RETURN SOON. The ENTIRE staff are PEOPLE FRIENDLY which ALWAYS starts the GAME off on a HAPPY NOTE. From the time you are greeted by ANDY when signing in to enjoying a cool one after the 18th hole it will prove to be one of your BETTER GOLF OUTINGS - EVER!!!!. THANKS ANDY & ENTIRE STAFF.
Great Layout
Palatka Golf course is something you don't see in Florida very often. The course has actual hills not mounded dirt in areas. The course dates back to 1925 and is still in very good shape and is very well maintained. The hills and assorted dog legs make this very different from traditonal courses in North florida. This course can't be beat for the money I will be going back often
Surprise up charge
Course was in good shape. Did not appricate the extra charge added on top of the Hot deal.
Customers should be told up front they will charge more. Don't surprise us.
Nice but a bit short
Short course but not bad for the money
bad timing
We've played this course many times in the past. It's rarely crowded and a fair challenge as it's a classic old Donald Ross design, with smallish raised greens on the front nine and strategic bunkering. Historically, the course conditions can vary dramatically, but the last few years it has been consistently good and many improvements have been made. This time was no exception. Fairways, greens, and bunkers were in great shape.
Unfortunately, they were having a tournament of some sort the day of our tee time.
They told us this when we checked in, but indicated the last groups were well ahead of us, and it shouldn't be a problem.... Wrong!.....To make a long and boring story short, we gave up after playing 13 holes and got outa Dodge. Anyway, the course was in excellent ship, and as always, we recommend it.
playable
Great old Donald Ross course fair test .Just a vary nice old test of golf at a great price
the course is great
I played four courses while I was on four day vacation in st augilustine. Augustine is the best course for your money. The course was well maintained. the staff was very friendly.
great for moderate to good golfers
very nice course great to learn how play without much hazards.
Good Value
Front 9 played in 90 min. . Back 9 played in 150 min.. No Rangers on course . Course in good shape. Excellent meal at restaurant .
sand pit
I played this course for three years ending 4 years ago. This was my first time since then. My compaint is that they have removed a lot of the grass and replaced it with hard pack sand with a thin level of loose sand. If the wind blows you get sand in your eyes. And heaven help if you land on the sand because hitting a little low and you will feel it. I came home with a sore wrist. I have played golf once or twice a week all winter and never got a sore wrist before. In fairness, where they had grass it was green and nice. The greens were disappointing because the mower probably mowed uphill or had a bent blade. the grass was uneven and you could watch the bowl bounce over the grass.
The other issue for me was that to get on the green on some of the par 4's in two strokes you had to exceed 200 yards with each hit. I am a winter golfer rarely palying in the summer time.
Palatka
This course is a good value for the average golfer.
Classic Ross
The course was in very good shape, they are over seeding, but the greens are only marginally affected. The remainder of the course was in very good condition, and enjoyable.
Good
Staff very friendly and course in good condition for this time of year. Will go again - good value for your $
