Palatka Golf Club
About
Neighbor to the beautiful Ravine State Gardens, Palatka Golf Club offers a game that is as scenic as it is entertaining. Designed by Donald Ross in 1925, the golf course was created with all skill levels of golfers in mind. The layout is player friendly, but there are still many challenging elements to keep golfers on their toes, including Ross' signature "turtleback" greens. There are also numerous bunkers fiercely guarding the greens. The signature hole of the course is the par-3 third. This 188-yard hole is a test of accuracy, requiring a difficult tee shot to a well bunkered green. Palatka Golf Club also offers a unique aqua driving range for golfers to use.

Like a traditional northern course
A traditional course with next to no water and good bunkers. Lots of doglegs. Not long but watch where you drive as you may be blocked by trees. Very fiendly course from the staff to members. Small greens that hold and flat with sloping edges. Not upside down bowls as I had previously read. Good value for your money. Stay left of the palm tree on number 10 and hit it only about 185 yards. Stay left on number 18. A real good time.
Nice course in good shape
Greens were in very good shape albeit quite slow. Fairways were decent but roughs were often barren. New golf carts are on order; definitely needed.
Palatka
I was very impressed with the continual upgrading of the overall course conditions, especially the greens were full of grass cover! Congratulations to the maintenance staff and overall friendliness of the staff!
ALittle Gem
A very mature, old course with many large oaks with Spanish moss. Though the course is not particularly long, there are quite a few challenging holes and picking the right club is helpful. For example on # 3 there is no need for driver! This course offers many good deals on GolfNow which makes it well worth the drive to Palatka.
classic Donald Ross course
built in 1925, you can tell this is a classic Donald Ross course. A lot of doglegs, bunkers and, of course, turtle back greens. Don't let the short distance fool you, the course plays tougher than the distance; but it is a fair challenge. The only downside is that the fairways and roughs need a lot of TLC to bring it back to where I guess it was in its hay-day.
Nice Course - Reasonable Price
The guy in the clubhouse is extremely friendly and is an asset to the this golf course.
Course itself is in good condition and the greens were excellent.
Only downside is the amount of sand thrown around on the back 9. It's everywhere - not just in bunkers or traps - but in open areas of the fairways. Doesn't make any sense and takes away from several of the holes.
Overall it is a fun place to play for the average golfer.
Bang for a buck
Nice course, not challenging. For all levels of golfers, for the price there's no reason not to go time and time again.
Going Back Soon
Super friendly staff. I love this golf course. Played in just over 3 hours. The only criticism I would have is that the greens were slow.
Best shape its been in for years
Hopefully the coarse will keep improving. The management is taking it in the right direction. I won't hesitate to play there now.
Interresting bur far
All in all acceptable, faiways good, greens for the time of the year good. Lked it but too costly for the location
Great course for the money
Fairways and greens were in excellent shape. No beer cart is the only downside.
JUST FAIR
An older type course. Poor separation between holes. Greens were really bad. Long drive from St. Augustine. Very friendly staff. Good variety of holes and actually some hills. Easy to play.
A little better than what you pay for
i play this course every 3 months and it is only playable from september to march. the greens are probably a 7 on the stimp and very soft for the most part. fairways are patchy, as is the rough. i payed 16 bucks to play, so i believe it was well worth the money during this season. i also talked to the staff and they are planning to have the greens redone. hopefully this course will countine to improve becasue it is a terrific (short course) design by donald ross.
Not a pleasant surprise
We played this course because someone told us it was in great shape. If that is the case I would hate to see it when it's not in great shape! The greens are all like upside down saucers, which wouldn't be so bad if they were larger than a post-it!The tees and greens are very close to each other. As we were teeing off on number 7 and watching for balls coming too long from 5,twoballs landed on our tee box with no warning. We played at 10 a.m. and the greens were already bumpy and very slow. The holes looked like they had been there for a few days.I did like the hills that we don't see much here in Florida.I doubt if I will return for another round.I realize they only have so much room to cram in 18 holes, but at least put up some screens so you don't have to think about anything but you tee shot.
Very Friendly
The course was green everywhere, not just the greens. The staff is the friendliest in the area. I can't wait to go back.
Major disappointment
We were looking for a course to play on our way from Jacksonville to Orlando. While the greens fees are very low, it was not worth it. The course was in horrible condition and not very scenic at all.
Walking friendly
Good overall condition. Though the greens were slow, they were in good condition. It is a walker friendly course, so you do have to keep an eye out for golfers in adjacent fairways.
Overall a good place to hit the ball around.
Out of normal travels but worth the visit
Overall nice course great old oaks throughout the course.
Course in seasonal transition
Cold grey windy Monday a.m. not to many out so we played in2r 45m. Over seed just coming in. Greens rough (just aerated), not a straight put on the course. Would like to see in better conditions, and play again.
up and coming...
course is just getting in better and better shape. Greens are getting fast! It's great to see this jewel of a course getting put back in shape :)
