Palatka Golf Club
About
Neighbor to the beautiful Ravine State Gardens, Palatka Golf Club offers a game that is as scenic as it is entertaining. Designed by Donald Ross in 1925, the golf course was created with all skill levels of golfers in mind. The layout is player friendly, but there are still many challenging elements to keep golfers on their toes, including Ross' signature "turtleback" greens. There are also numerous bunkers fiercely guarding the greens. The signature hole of the course is the par-3 third. This 188-yard hole is a test of accuracy, requiring a difficult tee shot to a well bunkered green. Palatka Golf Club also offers a unique aqua driving range for golfers to use.

great family course
Very nice course very open fairways, with greens on the smaller side. Plays fast with a great family feel.
Nice Older Course
Older course which is well maintained. Fun to play and enjoyed fast play.
Not very memorable
No variable in holes by the time we reach the 12 hole we were quite bored. However, this would be a good course for beginners as the fairways are wide and flat.
Great Value for Jones Course
This is an Old Florida style course. You won't find many lost balls...if they clear the fence they are gone forever. Some very challenging holes including a Par 3 with a tree limb hanging over the fairway...it eats balls with a gusto.
Quaint course with friendly staff
Palatka was a pleasant surprise after waiting to long to book a round while in town. I would have easily paid double and felt that I still got a great value. Greens were small but very fair and the course was in great condition for a nearly 100 year old muni. Enjoyed the first round so much we went back the very next morning. Can't wait for an excuse to get back to St Augustine so I can play it again.
pleasant surprise
I played here before and this is the best I've seen this course
A hidden treasure
It is worth your time to find this hidden treasure of a golf course. Not long but if you don't place your drives right your approach will be difficult. Well kept with steady use, people at the facility are very nice and appreciative of you being there. A must play course that you will visit again.
Extremely Challanging for a par 70 at less than 6,000 yards
Course in great shape except rough is bare
at less than 6,000 yards par 70 this course
is extremely challanging
Palatka GC
My son and I played a two-some and we enjoyed the course very much. It is wide open yet challenging.
an enjoyable course
My wife and I thoroughly enjoy this unpretentious course. From its very comfortable and well maintains club house to its picturesque fairways and interesting greens it is full value for your money.
Best Course in the Area
As somebody who plays Starke, Keystone, and the Gaineville courses regularly, Palatka is far and away my top choice. I called the day before worried about rain and the friendly staff member explained the course is on top of a big sand pit and it can rain 3 inches and be dry within half an hour. After the morning rain I still had my concerns, but boy was he right. No 90 degree rule and never even came close to bogging down and balls still bounced and rolled great! I know the course had a bad reputation from how far it had fallen from it's glory days, but whatever the new ownership group that took over a couple of years ago is doing, is working. I was put in a foursome with elder club members last week and they felt it was the best the course has EVER looked. Well I don't remember it from the 80's, but it's green and pristine now. I feel like they are milking you a little bit with the $3 surcharge for non-Palatka residents and could do without that, but overall it's worth it.
Good Value For The $$
Nice course. Friendly staff. Fun to play. Priced right.
Not much more you could ask for on a sunny day.
fee structure
This was the first time booking a tee time with Golf Now that we had an extra fee tacked on when we arrived. They referred it as a user fee. It wasn't big, but it did catch me off guard.
Narrow fairways, small greens overall good condition and fair
I was introduced to "Golf Now" and initially was reluctant to use it. I found using it was easy to use and very efficient.
I had read the reviews of the golf course and found that they we're most accurate.
I would play the course again and also use "Golf Now" for any future rounds.
surprise fee
When we signed in at the proshop, we were presented with a nonresident fee of $3.00 per person. We will loomk for another xourse that does not charge this.
An absolute gem
This old Donald Ross design is simply a joy to play. Affectionately dubbed the Muni, it is a friendly and unpretentious place despite the fact that it is a Ross design and steeped in history.
It is a short course by modern day standards, only 5900 from the tips. But don't let the yardage fool you. With it's small, raised greens that Ross was famous for, you'd better use your imagination and bring a great short game if you want to challenge old man par.
It is a wonderful design that anyone can play and enjoy, and when you're finished there is BOGO draft beer and excellent pub food to be had in the lounge.
I absolutely loved the course, so much so that I'm thinking of finding a place nearby to spend my winters so I can haunt the place.
If you get the chance, don't miss it. In my books, this place embodies what golf is all about; fun, challenging, friendly and open to everyone.
Greens need work
The course layout was fine and not real difficult to the average golfer but the quality overall of the greens was less than desirable.
ADD ON FEES
Purchased on Golfnow and print out read Due at course $0.00 but when we arrived at pro shop we were told Golfnow required us to pay an additional fee to the course or we couldn't play. We paid but when I contacted Golfnow I was told there was no additional fees and they would file a complaint to the course. I don't mind paying to play but please don't tack on fees after I have driven 50 miles to play.
Great value and excellent staff . Highly recommended for upbeat golf experience.
Typical Donald Ross design and quite playable.Club pro has terrific personality and all staff very welcoming and helpful. Fairways good for this time of the year. Greens are generally good with a few having bare spots. All and all a great bargain and pleasant experience. R Van Zandt.
Dress Code/Conditions
Our foursome enjoyed the round and what the golf course had to offer. Taken back a touch when "two members" we believe, played thru (one player per cart) wearing blue denim jeans; appeared to be in a hurry to play in less than 2 hrs. Club lost a little class in our eyes when we saw this, especially when the rules were stated differently when we booked. Played with a sand treatment on the greens, which was kinda of dumber.
