About
Neighbor to the beautiful Ravine State Gardens, Palatka Golf Club offers a game that is as scenic as it is entertaining. Designed by Donald Ross in 1925, the golf course was created with all skill levels of golfers in mind. The layout is player friendly, but there are still many challenging elements to keep golfers on their toes, including Ross' signature "turtleback" greens. There are also numerous bunkers fiercely guarding the greens. The signature hole of the course is the par-3 third. This 188-yard hole is a test of accuracy, requiring a difficult tee shot to a well bunkered green. Palatka Golf Club also offers a unique aqua driving range for golfers to use.

Golfer Reviews
classic old-timey course
Originally a Donald Ross design - small raised greens, tight bunkers, etc. A nice throwback course. Conditions here can be up & down. Sometimes very good, other times not so much - but generally improved over the last few years.. Rarely crowded, so pace of play is usually good. Staff is friendly, atmosphere laid-back.
Course has potential but requires attention
We are tourists but dont mind going a bit out of the way to explore the coast. We got a really good price from Golf now and tried Palatka. Course offers great potential but unfortunately needs a lot of attention, fairways were bare in a few spots, same for greens, teeboxes need attention (womens were the worse).
Probably a perfect course for the pure beginners to learn but not up to our expectations.
Nice course and well layed out.Greens were a little small
Course was in nice condition and well taken care of.They had good information about overseeding and up coming events.Club house could use more help in the restrunant and bar area.
This course is easy to follow for 1st timers
This was the first time I played golf. The staff and people there were very helpful and friendly. The course was very easy to follow and is in great condition. It made my first time playing golf a very relaxing and enjoyable experience. The staff made me feel welcomed and at ease. I would recommend this golf course to everyone.
Great bang for your buck.
Course conditions have improved, but still have a way to go. No bare patches on tees or greens, but the fairways need work. Playing it down is not really an option! Still, it's a classic Donald Ross course: small, domed greens, and false fronts, etc. If you know of a less expensive DR designed course, please let me know!
Neat Donald Ross course
If you are inside a 30 mile radius of this course you must try it. Call ahead for plugging schedule and weekend tourney's even though you see tee times through GolfNow. Bring your short game to get up and down around these small greens!
Donald Ross Gem
Great course, yawning bunkers, small greens, woods, water, many shot-shape challenges. Needs only a little to bring it to star quality. Great value on Golf Now.
Great Layout
Only 5800+ from the "tips (blue), however, feels like 6500 with the layout. Greens are very difficult (typical Donal Ross) but in pretty good condition which makes for an excellent challenge. Elevation changes everywhere and a lot of dog legs which makes it a very unique course for Florida. If you are looking for something different then you won't be dissapointed with Palatka Golf Club. Overall, I had a great time and will definitly be back.
Classic course on the rebound
It is great to see this classic course making a come back. Some greens still need some work but much improved since last year.
Great value for the price paid....
Sandy greens only complaint
Putting became a chore through the sand but other than that, it was fine. I saw complaints here about weeds in the sand traps and I did see a few but these were traps "out of the way", not the primary hazards surrounding the greens. They should be attended to but they don't come into play much.
OTOH, the traps around the greens were well maintained, deep soft sand, all raked. Nice to hit out of instead of the rain soaked concrete bunkers often seen.
The Donald Ross greens are typical- often crowned in the middle, many false fronts and there were a couple of nasty pin placements on the edge of the false front dropoff lip.
For holes, the 10th is the killer, longer dogleg left while #1 is an easy 319 yard opener. 11 is a cool hole and 12 is a pretty par 3.
Pro Shop guy was great- got there early and asked if we could go out early...he just smiled and said, "Sure, have a good time."
An insult to Donald Ross.
All 18 greens are lost, fairways and tee boxes covered in crab grass and weeds. It's a sad homage to a great designer. No fun at all, just a walk in a pasture.
This course has some great shot holes. First time playing in ten years.
The length of the course can be appreciated by all golfers. However the greens needs some work. For the hot deal price thru GolfNow, this was a great deal but I wouldn't paid their rack rate for this course. First time playing course in ten years.
another fun Donald Ross course worth playing
Overall, the fairways were well maintained and the greens were in good shape. Loved the battery powered golf carts, hate those noisy, polluting gas powered ones. A few greens had some dry patches, but not enuf to ruin my round and they did put the pins away from those trouble spots. Golf cart paths could be improved as they are mostly dirt/sand and very bumpy. Would play here again...
The course was a lot if fun, challenging at times and the play was perfect.
I would recommend anyone that just loves golf and especially golfs early roots in Florida to play Palatka.
Worse course conditions I've ever played under
Greens - there were none - no grass on the greens - bunkers were full of weeds - rough was mostly weeds. Tee box grass was dollar weeds.
Would never recommend this course to anyone!
enjoyable round
The greens were being sanded that day so putting wasn't great
but overall the course was maintained. It is a Donald Ross design so it's not longand the greens are crowned . It is one of the only rolling terrain courses around here since Ravines closed.
