Not as addvetised
This course had the worst greens I have ever played. so many bare spots and full of weeds. they were not playable. Tees, fairways and bunkers were also in poor shape.
Sad but true
Sad to say, but the terrible reviews below are valid, especially the one by lenc52. Pine lakes should do what Halifax did a couple of years ago, rip out all the greens and redo them while putting in temporary greens and charging $25 / 18 holes.
I think I went around Halifax 10 or 12 times that year because at $25 we were still out playing golf and it was well worth it. The course was able to bring in a fair amount of money, I'm sure, even with the repairs going on. Now it's back to full price so I've moved on but that was a great year banging it around Halifax.
It is no doubt expensive to redo greens and who knows what pine lakes financial situation is but maybe they could do nine holes this year, nine holes next year or something. The current approach isn't working.. such a beautiful course too.
Horrible
This is a track to skip at this point. Fairways were sand and dirt, greens were sand and weeds. You can see from the layout it was a nice course at one time but that time has passed. We ended up deciding to make all greens an automatic 2 putt as there was rarely a green that could be putt without bouncing over clumps of weed. Course needs to close for a year and grow the turf and put in new greens.
Poor condition
I have played this course numerous times. It was the worst it’s ever been. The greens were all dirt. There was no grass on them. It was unplayable. The course should’ve offered a discount or explained on the app how bad the course was I spent $112 and it was horrible.
Steer Clear
This course is in decent shape…. If you don’t look at the greens while you’re on them. Not a single green was puttable. Taking a line didn’t even matter because the ball was going to hop skip and jump its way there anyways. The fact that they charged $50 to play this is just embarrassing. The most abhorrent greens I’ve ever seen.
Greens are gone
Every green on the course has been lost. Was not a matter of maintenance being performed. Totally bare except for the random weeds. Hitting a putt was like playing Plinko. Should have been tipped off when there were virtually no cars in the parking lot at 10am on a Saturday. I asked the person who checked me in why so few people, and she claimed to be just as surprised. This course is normally in decent shape. They have the nerve to charge more than the normal charge when course is in good shape. This is not something that can be fixed any time soon.
The greens are in bad shape and have been for a few years now ..hope they are repaired soon!
Greens need attention.
Greens had an invasion of different grass that made it impossible to putt. All 18 holes. Some TLC and maintenance on tee boxes, ball washers, and signage. Otherwise, course layout was nice, pace was good and staff were friendly.
Course condition is horrible
This place is a joke at $ 50 no greens fairways are bare
Run down
Sorry but this was the worst golf course we played while visiting St Augustine Nice layout. Poorly maintained The greens ate all dried out with weeds
Nice Layout but Maintenance Lacking
This was once a really nice course but the greens are in terrible shape.
Putting is all but impossible!
Requiem For The Dead
This course was in awful shape. Not just one hole, all greens were terrible with patches, holes, no grass and hard as a rock sand. I have never played on a course like this. GolfNow needs to remove this golf course from the list of courses available. I wouldn't pay $10. to play on that course again.
Requiem For The Dead
This is absolutely the worst golf course I have ever played on. Every green was in awful shape; holes, patches and no grass, only sand packed down with some weeds. The traps were in terrific shape, but even the fairways were only fair. The clubhouse and bar area were very nice. Pine Lakes GC needs to warn people of the condition.
Disappointing Experience
What was once a consistently good course to play has now become a disappointing course due to poor conditions. The greens in particular are covered with little clusters of weeds that negatively effect every putt. Tee boxes often resemble sand boxes with little or few patches of grass. I have played this course regularly over the years and this course has never been in such poor shape. I always considered Pine Lakes a top course for cost, layout and playability. Not any longer. The conditions do not warrant the high greens fee and conditions put this course in my penalty box. My buddies and I won't be returning to play Pine Lakes any time soon.
Do you fertilize your greens with gasoline?
Greens are non existent and unplayable. Course was allowing 5 people to play at one time per hole. Will never waste my money here again.
Disappointing Greens
Course layout was very good. The GREENS were the worst I have ever played on.
This course is in horrible shape. No greens or tee boxes to speak of..weeds and sand. Could be nice and staff was friendly but not even GHIN rated. We won’t be back, especially when there are so many courses for the same or better fees in far better condition
Not Worth The Cost
The friendly staff and nice bar/restaurant are negated by the horrendous condition of the course. I played here regularly for several years as it's easy to get out. Of course the reason that it's easy is because few people play here due to the poor condition. I witnesses the greens go from terrible condition to pretty decent condition. That lasted a few months and they're now worse than ever. It's like putting on a tar paper roof. The layout is nice but for $50 it's just not worth it. I can play courses in good condition for $35-$45 .
