Good Choice
We were able to get out a bit earlier for our tee times thanks to the Ladies Group that offered to let us go out ahead of them. The pace of play was excellent, we played in just over 3 hours. The course was in excellent condition, very challenging but extremely fair to play. We paired up with a single player when we started the back nine and we had a wonderful time. The staff is great and cares about your golfing experience. Had lunch in the clubhouse, very good. Overall an enjoyable day.
great course
The course was challenging yet playable for the average golfer. The conditions of the course was exceptional. The service of the staff could compare to any top notch facility. I had a great day.
Good golf/ good food
Not manicured but fairways and greens are in good shape. Restaurant bar has good food and friendly staff
Great Value
The fairways and greens are good. The back 9 has more interesting holes, especially 15 to 18. Make sure you take water. There is ice at the turn but no water. In fact, if the club replaced the non functioning water holders and dilapidated ball wash on each hole it would have a large impact on how the course presents itself. Another minor annoyance is the glossy scorecard which is unaccommadating to a pencil.
But overall good course and excellent value. Try it!
Don't let FIVE play
Walk into pro shop, tell the guy my tee time & he says that will be $49.95. I tell him I paid on line & he starts complaining how he hates golfnow. Get on the course & there is a group of 5 on the fairway. a group of 3, & us (2). The five should never be aloud, & if they are they should let smaller groups play threw, which they didn't. The Marshal drove by & doesn't do anything about the 5 group, so we are left with having to wait after every shot. But the course is fine & will play again.
Starter great guy but cannot get out of his on way
Course continues to improve...had to wait 30 minutes watching an empty first tee boxes due to control and command issues of starter...but a nice guy just overwhelmed by job and process...resulted in course backing up....but we were held to 3minutes short of our original teetime...
Great Course at a GREAT price AAA+++
Nicely laid out but a bit tricky in pin placements and trap locations. You earn your score REALLY needs better distance marking or GPS on carts
First Florida course where I didn't see alligators...
Pine Lakes Got Game!
Looking for a new track to visit and spur of the moment - found tee time for a great price. Although this course is 1 hour from my home I made the trip. Was I ever glad I did. From the moment I arrived I was pleased. The starter met me at the bag drop, took my bag and told me he would get it set on a cart. I checked in in the ProShop and was greeted with an enthusiastic hello. Informed me I would be playing with 2 members, Frank & Kari. Delightful couple and their local knowledge of the course paid off, even with my GolfBuddy GPS I would have been hard pressed to avoid the devious traps Mr Palmer designed into this course. Front 9 tough but fair - feeling out the course, Back 9 also tough but fair, Frank's knowledge of the course, combined with the front 9 and watching my game allowed me several birdie opportunities. Having never played here, shooting a 90 with a 43 on the back was incredible. I will play this wonderful course again and will bring my regular group. This course exceeded my expectations - a must play
Greens are in Great Condition
We have not played this course in a few years. The course is in great shape. These are some of the best greens we have played on this year.
Fast and True greens
The greens here are fast and true.
Hit the front of the green and roll - not before the green to bounce.
Even with all the rain the fairways some days still bounce and roll well.
Chef in restaurant has some really nice dishes.
Staff is nice and friendly - good mixed drinks.
nice course
I have played this course a couple of times. The staff is always very friendly and the course conditions have been good. The last time I played it had rained hard a couple of days before and the course was fairly dry and very playable
great time
Played with two friends one of whom was playing the course for the first time. We had a great time. The course was in excellent condition and the greens were moderate quick. Pace of play could not have been better. The course was not remotely busy - we had no one in front or behind us all day.
Old gem being restored
I have not played this course for over 20 years but had very fond memories of her. Word of late was she was falling apart but new management had taken over and better days were ahead. All true.
I had forgotten what a great golf course this was. Length, undulating greens and just enough bunkers prove this to be a very good test of golf. Solid par 3's, a few long 4's and interesting par 5's.
Range, both par 3 tee boxes on back and other areas are places the course is being improved. Money has and is being currently spent to improve golf course. Club house needs to be razed and rebuilt. It's old and needs updating. (Much like the old clubhouse at TPC. Horrible old clubhouse!) But, they are spending money on the course and that is where it's needed most.
I strongly recommend playing this gem. And, if you get a GolfNow deal like I did for $20, it's a steal!
Condition...surprisingly good!
I say this because I heard that at one time this was the place to go but then it fell on hard times (and the parking lot shows it)...but it looks to me like it's on its way back! Greens were in great shape...fairways & tee boxes in good shape, sand traps fair. The Arnold Palmer course design makes you have to think about the shot your playing. Our pace of play was good. We didn't have time to hit the restaurant because of prior commitments after golf so I can't comment on it. Ultimately, we had a gorgeous day and enjoyed our round very much!
Must try again...100% improvement
WOW!
Never thought I would play the course again after playing last year. If you have ever played it in the past you need to play it again to see the improved course conditions. We only played the back 9 today, but we were so impressed we already booked 18 for tomorrow. The greens rolled almost as nice as the Hammock Ocean course that I live on.
The new Owners have done a great job, but I feel they are still missing out with their internet exposure. You can't find a website for them and every search, even Golf Now's site refers you to the Cypress Knoll golf course and that's one you never want to play if you have a choice.
as good as lpga, victoria hills,
peopler freindly course in good shape playing 9/9/2015 iam disabled vet looking for a discount.
Nice course in great condition
We really enjoyed this course. The greens are in great condition for this time of year. It's pretty obvious that they have an experienced greens keeper and maintenance staff.
Course Conditions
Course was in very nice shape contrary to what I had heard. The value for the money was excellent. We had lots of rain the night before but there were several maintenance men out fixing what was wrong. Looking forward to playing there again. The water stops had no water that was the only drawback, as it was a very hot day.
Getting better
Haven't played this course in over a year abd I can see improvements. Greens were very good and true, fairways in good condition and tee boxes good. The rough still needs some attention but it does force you to focus on staying on the fairways. The layout is challenging with dogleg and water features. Enjoyed the day and I hope Pine Lakes continues to improve.
