The Bridges Golf Club

Pace of play is terrible, takes 5.5-6 hours to play 18. Staff is ambivalent and busy with other stuff.. service level is VERY low. Holes are well lazed out, but first four holes are on clubhouse side of Bollinger, then next 11 holes are on other side of road, and last 3 holes back on clubhouse side. Impossible to get food / beverage after leaving clubhouse, unless you catch beverage cart college girl on Sat/Sun morning about 9-1pm. Expensive property and huge underused clubhouse. Too much overhead and not much service. Members have all the early tee times and jam the course with their slow play. Could be a great course, but business model is terrible and managed worse.

The starter hurries us to tee of promptly (maybe two min early) to “keep up” to one his regular “fast” foursomes ahead of us….well, we push those slow pokes for 16 holes until a Marshall comes by and asks why we are FORTY-FIVE minutes behind pace. I ask him to look ahead and see that there’s nowhere to go but his “regular” 4-some has 1.5 holes open ahead of them. They hurry for one hole then lag again, and we finish on their tail in FIVE HOURS 20 MINUTES. UGH.

The fairway was nice, but the greens were dry and choppy. Cart service by Gabby was great, but post-round food at the restaurant was deeply lacking.

(Hi. I love to play your course, but my handicap (post polio) has made it very difficult to play. Evenwith a “blue flag” the cart would not allow to get within 50 yards of green. Cart path to green was too steep. Jj

arrived 30 min ahead of tee-time. However, Proshop cashier didn't want me to checkin. Told me checkin time is 20 min before tee-time. I didn't see there have this rule hanging on the wall or stating on the web. General impression was that he want me to wait or take 2nd trip back to pro shop. He wasn't busy at the time.

Headline quote is from my instructor, Byron, who grew up in the East Bay, played at UCLA and Is intimately familiar with this venue. I’m glad he recommended it to me. Well worth the trip across the Bay Bridge from the City. Bridges is all around a superior test of the game than he primary public venues in SF (Presidio and Harding Park). Bridges is sophisticated in terms of Course architecture. It’s just doesn’t present the golfer with many tedious, unrevealing shots during the course of a round. It rewards a the player who understands his shot dispersion as a risk-reward situations abound on this course. Look forward to playing it again.

The course was in good shape except for the "punched" greens which is accepted given the discount price.

The last four holes are a real challenge. Anyone who enjoys a challenge should find those holes really interesting.

In immaculate condition, Pretty tough but not bad if you can just keep the ball in the narrow and sloping fairways by not smacking a driver on every hole

Since bridges rises up his price, I rarely play, the condition is still good, fairway and green are nice maintained.

Great layout with a variety of holes and no two holes come in contact with each other. Course is set on a hillside with plenty of elevation changes throughout. Conditions were very nice with the fairways being excellent. Greens and modest slope to them, making them a perfect blend between being challenging but predictable Greens were receptive to approach shots and pitches. They were a bit spongy in the late afternoon

A number of the Tee boxes were uneven. Not too bad but noticeable. Bunkers had good quality sand in them. Pace of play was slow (5 hours) which seems to be the norm in this area

I’ll definitely play this course again

Course knowledge is a must. Quite a few blind shots that will get you in trouble if you don’t know where you are going. Course is in good shape and the greens rolled true and fair. It’s absolutely a target golf type of track. You need to play smart to score well. There are a number of holes that are cart path only.

It’s a nice course in pretty good shape besides the tee boxes. Just seems like it is pretty difficult for an average golfer to enjoy themselves.

When I went the marshal was pretty rude and stopped talking to me mid conversation to have a conversation with his friend who just arrived.

Went to play Bridges on a warm Sunday. On a 90+ degree day, they had:

- no cart person

- multiple closed restrooms

- only 1 functioning water station or water fountain (!!)

Throw in a 5:15 round and it was one of my least favorite days on a golf course. I have never written a bad review for a golf course, but this one is well deserved. I will not be playing Bridges again any time soon.

Beautiful course and super friendly staff, everyone is very relaxed

Course was in good condition, but layout was.ridiculously difficult. Lots of forced carries and blind shots. Nearly all fairways were needlessly sloped where you need to hit your tee shot into the rough and let it bounce back into the fairway. Bring lots of golf balls.
