A fun course
I have played several times in this course, I always want to come back to play as it really mixes challenges with fun, especially when you play with friends…
Much Improved!
Hadn't play Canyon Lakes in at least a year or so. Conditions were poor and greens were spongy. Heard there is a new grounds superintendent. Greens were much, much better. Fairways in fairly good condition and all of the bunkers had new sand in them. Always like the layout of the course. Just had not seen it in very good condition for several years. I will definitely plan t play Canyon Lakes again very soon!
Good all around
First time playing Canyon Lakes and was very surprised to find a well maintained, nicely designed course in the Bay Area for a reasonable weekend rate. The layout is solid with fairways and greens in excellent condition. Outside of some over watered areas on the course making it a bit mushy a messy, this course is a value and delivers on experience. The course staff is amazingly cordial and the amenities at the restaurant and brewery are equally as good. Definitely will be playing here again in the near future.
Thank you Marshall
Teed off as a 2some at 7:30am, caught up with a 4some that already teed off on hole 3. Waited 20min for them to finish. We’re on their heels until a marshall showed up on 6 tee box. Caught up with them on hole 9 where the marshall was at the tee box. I guess marshall gave them 2 warnings on slow play. Marshall followed them to 10th hole. Caught up with them on the 12th hole. Didnt see the 4some for the rest of the round.
Its OK to be a beginner at golf, but play from the right tees, not the tips. Its ok to let a group play through if your holding up play. Ive seen groups on a putting green on a par 3 wave the other group on and play through. I guess a little common sense is not so common now a days.
Course is challenging and target golf comes into play alot. Greens were true and the course was in really good condition.
Great track!!!
Greens were perfect, bunkers all have new sand that plays well. Course has a new super and he is doing an amazing job!!
Great Gem
To me as a new golfer who had now played 10 courses since April I love this course for its varying challenges hole to hole
Very pretty but narrow and hilly course
Great layout in the middle of valley. Course is in great condition overall except few dry patches on the fairways but probably normal for the dry weather in the area. Fairways are narrow but still leaves the ball in play if it’s not too errant. Definitely a challenging course but I really enjoyed it and hope to comeback for another round sometime. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. There is a cart on the course to meet hydration needs.
Canyon Lakes evening tee time
Pace of play was a sore spot and is the only thing that could be viewed as negatively.
Abysmal pace of play
The pace of play was already very slow. For some reason, the proshop let another group in front of us on the back nine that had two small children which slowed the pace to nearly a grinding halt. An employee drove by and apologized for the slowness. I thought they were going to do something about it, but it got even slower. The group was taking selfies and videos on the tees and would take off just as we would pull up to the tee so we couldn’t ask to play through. The bottleneck was so bad, several groups behind us left. On the 18th the kids were running amuck playing in the bunkers. By the time they rounded up the kids and took all their selfies it was almost 5 minutes. i yelled WTF but was ignored of course.
I get you want to spend time with your kids and get lots of pics, but have some respect for other people that paid for 18 holes and couldn’t finish because of you. Perhaps an outing to the bowling alley is a more appropriate venue for you.
At least the beer is excellent. That did help some…
Great course for a reasonable price
Awesome course, well maintained, great layout, will really challenge your golf skills. Staff was super friendly, will recommend to play in this course.
Golf with a beautiful Scenery
Wonderful day of golf with beautiful scenery to help me to forget the bad shots. Course is well kept and has a few holes with difficulty. You won’t regret playing there, bring few extra balls.
8 Asian Ladies Caused Me To Replay the Front 9
Hadn't played this course for 5 years and was looking forward to nice weather round of 18 holes -- not to be had this day!
Turns out they had two foursomes of ladies who spent more time gossiping than playing and had backed up players from at least 4 groups from finishing in the supposed allotted 4 hour 30 minute standard.
Great Course, Needs a Marshall
I love this course, but there are issues with the pace of play. Last time we played, it was so slow they ran out of carts due to a back up on the course- 5 Tee Times were waiting for carts to return in order to go out to play. This time, similar, there was a single in front of us (we went out as a twosome) and he played so slow, he didn't invite us to play up with him, played multiple balls, took forever to find his ball each time, took many practice swings including in the bunker, and drove up to the greens, getting his cart stuck repeatedly. He was pretty drunk or high, definitely NOT sober. Huge clouds of smoke coming from his cart.... He had us backed up and every group behind us. Other groups were also complaining about him, and several left the course before finishing in order to just end the torture. A Marshall would have solved this issue.
Great food and beer and a fun course, except for this bozo out there. Consider hiring a Marshall to make this a better course!
Great food
Great weather and great food. PACe was fast and easy. Loved it.
