port charlotte review
The fairways and rough were trimmed well and made for an easier shot. The tee boxes were very good except for 2 or 3 of them which needed work. The greens which are usually lightning fast were aerated and well sanded. But overall the course was in good shape and I look forward to playing again once the sand is off the greens.
Sandy Greens
I really enjoy playing Port Charlotte. Now with the Snowbirds gone, it gives me more opportunities to play there. The only negative is that the staff, when checking in, should let you know that the greens have been sanded and plugged. But even with that, the greens played better than a few other coursed in the area.
Nice Course
Wide open fairways, greens are fast compared to the ones I play in CT. The staff is friendly. I will definitely go back
Course in top playing condition
This course is in the best condition I have ever seen. It is very playable for all players regardless of handicap. The fairways were in excellent codition and the greens were very fast and accurate.
Well Maintained
Well maintained, greens and fairways in great condition, fairly open course.
Great course well maintained
Played 4/27/14. The course is mostly wide open and playable from the back tees. But beware on windy days. Greens were in excellent shape...slick. Took my friend and I a couple of holes to figure out the speed but they rolled pure. The staff was also great. We showed up about an hour before our tee time and they got us out immediately.
service people
The person taking care of the carts was so polite and brought our carts over to us and even loaded our carts for us.
Not too challenging
Older course in a residential area. Highly recommended for high handicappers. No site of a marshal, but one was needed to manage pace of play.
charity tournament conflict
I am not sure how golf now scheduled the tee time but when our foursome arrived there was a shotgun charity tournament. Fortunately they allowed us to play our foursome in the middle of the shogun which was 2 minutes earlier than our scheduled tee time. I am not sure if it was golf now or Port Charlotte that mixed the day up but it went OK because of the friendly staff.
It was also a surprise that the receipt they gave me was for far less than the golf now charge.
Enjoyed playing
Well groomed and great shape. Price a little high for an older course and pace was pretty slow. Saying that had a good round and would come back.
This course has difficult and fast green
Challanging but fair course but every fast tuff greens.
Interesting layout
Really enjoyed the course. It has generous fairways. It only has moderate water that comes into play, unlike most Florida golf courses. Greens good and has some speed to them.
Never allow a 5some on specially when all ttimes are booked!
I guess I'm having trouble playing a 5 hour round AND playing behind a 5some, I guess we may not have played faster no matter what. The greens are fast, wide open flat not much character course. We did get a decent value of $25 for high season not worth much more.
Greens
The greens were the best I have played this season. They were fast and truel The rest of the course was in nice condition and the facilities were very nice
Comfortable round
This is a great course if you want one without being intimidated hole after hole. All holes were fair and the greens were in great shape and quick. Fairways are generous and water does not really come into play. I would play it again.
Nice greens
The fairways and greens were in excellent condition. The greens were FAST and true. The course is pretty wide open, and being in the wrong fairway doesn't hurt you too much.
The regular 'In Season' rate for non-residents is over $50, and Florida residents get a $5 discount. I feel like there are better values in the area. We got a GolfNow rate of $26/player, and that was a real value.
Don't Miss this one
Anyone can play this course and it will be fun. Great greens, good fairways, and enough tees to challenge any golfer but be fair.
User Friendly
Course was in very nice shape.Few water hazards but lots of bunkers and tricky, hard to read greens provided interest and challenge. Pace of play was excellent....8:22 to 12:19....less than 4 hours with a full course. Pub type food but great prices and a friendly staff
This course is affordeable with rebate offers
The green for me are too fast and the speed is not equal on all of them. I spend the winter in the area and the course is degrading every year especially on the maintenance side of it. Myself I would like to play in the PM but the price after 14h00 still high for the pace of play on the course. But overall the personnel is great, drink is good and the atmosphere in my foursome is asome.
