GREENSIDE DEAD Photo submitted by PGIgolfer on 09/08/2019
Course needs water and work
The greens are fine, but everywhere else is bad. Lots of bare ground; sandtraps are also a disaster, not a lot of sand, lots of stones and shells in what little sand there was.
Fun
Great layout. Awful fairway conditions. Expensive beer prices. If conditions are improved, I'll be back.i would recommend this course with warning of the condition.
Nice Course when Pricew drops
I love to play this course but usually have to wait until Mid April to afford a hot deal. Greens and T Boxes were in great shape but fairways were sand and dirt.
blue plate special
don't expect to stop in after you round to use the restrooms or to get something to eat or drink. place is a ghost town after 5 pm. 3 hours of sun still available... closed tighter than a drum
Corse needs work
Probably due to heavy winter play course is in bad shape. Fairways are mostly sand since grass is burned up due to lack of rain. Hopefully the wet season will help bring it back. Greens a fast but in good condition. I played this course in the fall and it was a completely different experience.
Not a bad course
Greens in great shape as well as tee boxes. Interesting layout. Greens a little on the slow side and it’s dry everywhere here now.
Course conditions
With the exception of the greens the course was very dry and green grass was minimal,l
Nice Course, but Rude Golfers
We play here often. Nice layout, great greens, and friendly staff. Unfortunately, some other golfers have been rude on several occasions.
Our group plays as a scramble: we hit the best ball, and once the ball is holed, even if by the first player to putt,:we move on to the next hole. It's fun to shoot a lower score as a group, and less strokes takes less time to play 18.
On this last round, we were waiting on the first tee behind a single in the fairway, who was waiting on a 4some ahead of him on the green. After a few holes, the single invited us to join him since we were waiting with him on each hole. Combining 2 groups into one reduced the wait for groups behind us. Despite having 5 players (playing only 2 balls between us), we waited on the the 4some ahead of us at tee boc or in the fairway to hit on every hole.
As we were about to hit our approach shots into 18, an older player in a cart drove up and started complaining to us about us playing slow. That added insult to injury, since we weren't happy about the pace of play either.
Another round, while about to take our first putt, we heard a player in the group say loudly, "I can't believe those guys are wasting time to putt gimmies". We had a 15' putt from the fringe.
Yet another round, it took us 2 shots to get out of a bunker--not 3 or 4...two. And someone frim the group behind drove up to complain.
We are very aware and considerate about pace of play.. And if there isca faster group behind us and we aren't waiting on the group ahead of us, we invite the group to play through.
No one likes to wait, and everyone wants to get 18 in before dark. The course doesn't have a ranger. Usually, pace of play is not a major issue here. But if there is an issue, I wish fellow golfers would approach each othet politely with the correct facts instead berating other golfers who are doing nothing wrong. Or call the Pro shop and ask them to send a staff member out to the course to resolve the situation. But being rude with misinformation ruins the round for everyone.
Awesome Experience
The course was is excellent condition. We were teamed up with a couple member that couldn't be more friendly. They gave us tips on each hole and we had a great time. We'll be back.
Twin Isles, not worth the money
I hadn’t played Twin Isles for a few years, but was meeting friends in Punta Gorda and wanted to get in a round. The staff is pretty congenial, really no complaints, but nothing extraordinary.
The course however was definitely not worth what they are charging for season green fees. Tee boxes were fairly rough, fairways were dry and not in the best of shape either. The greens were in decent shape.
We were playing as a twosome, and were stuck behind a foursome that thought they were tour quality players. The foursome was playing so slow, there were at least 3 open holes in front of them, no Marshall to encourage them to pick up the pace. We couldn’t play through, because they were all playing from the forward tees, which were a good distance from the whites and blues,
I have played there a few times in the summer when the rates are affordable, and the course was in much better condition. When paying over $100 for a round of golf, I expect the course to at least be in good shape, maybe even have GPS on the carts. Honestly, it’s a $45-50 course in season, and a $25-30 course on summer rates.
