Kingwood Golf Club & Resort
About
Kingwood Golf Club in Clayton is nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, surrounded by nearly 150,000 acres of protected national forest. While playing the course, it's likely you'll hear the roar of the nearby Chattooga River. The course is considered one of Georgia's best, thanks in large part to the stunning location, which lends mature hardwoods, rippling brooks, and lush green hills. The visually stunning golf course can seem intimidating, but four sets of tees guarantee that players of all skill levels can enjoy playing it. The par-71 layout measures just over 6,000 yards, a demanding length given the small greens and tight landing areas. A variety of elevation changes and strategically placed bunkers will test your accuracy at Kingwood G.C. Tee shot placement will also be an important factor in your score.

Challenging but fair course.
Course was in great condition considering the amount of rain over the last week. Green were in excellent condition. Have played course before and always enjoy.
wonderful golfing experience
Staff was super friendly, got right on the course with no waiting.
Caught up with two groups on the course who were very nice and allowed us to play through. Greens in excellent shape as well as fairways for time of year. Highly recommend!
Wonderful mountain coarse
My brother and I live 100 miles apart but are able to meet half way between us at King wood golf coarse.Using Golf now is a great way to reserve a tee time as well as save a little money. The coarse is in great shape and the maintenance superintendant has done a wonderful job keeping the coarse up with what I hear a shortage in budget funds.
Need to Play More Than Once
This is a great course with lots of elevation changes. The greens are receptive and the fairways are in good shape. The only problem I see with course, there are many blind shots and doglegs that require you to play the course more than once in order to figure out what to hit off the tee. This coupled with the fact that my newly purchased Garmin Watch did not have the right yardages on some holes made playing difficult. All in all though this is a good course and a good value.
Kingwood course has beautiful scenery
We had a wonderful time playing Kingwood. The scenery is beautiful, course well maintained, and the staff was great! Will definitely return to play again.
this is a great mountain course
this course is very well maintained from tee to green.most greens are well gaurded by creeks, bunkers and mounds.your aproach shot must be precise.brought a freind who never played the course and he shot 74. yep beat me by 7 strokes..LOL we had a great time and the staff were very freindly. i would recommend that every one give this one a try.
Beautiful
My new wife drove the cart, and enjoyed the breathtaking mountain views. I enjoyed the unique layout that features large elevation changes and a beautiful creek that runs throughout the course. The greens and fairways were in great condition. The only thing that kept me from giving Kingwood five stars is that the ball washers didn't have any water in them. I would definitely recommend this course.
Great condition. Beautiful background of mountains. Will return!!
Great golf course with friendly staff. They also have hotel accomodations and a full service restaurant and bar.
It was a fun course to play!
This is a beautiful course and well maintained. It is not long but it is a little tricky. It has some holes going up and some going down the hills. In fact some going straight down the hill. It was a great experience and a lot of fun to play.
Great Course and great views
Played the day after about 4 days of straight rain and no issues what so ever, they had about every grounds person on staff our cutting and they made the course look awesome.
Nice course, but....
Although they had a roving Ambassador (ranger), the pace of play was 5 1/4 hours which diminished much of the pleasure that otherwise could have been experienced at what seemed to be a nice course.
This course is laid out in the middle of some small mountains flawlessly
Staff really does a great job making this golf course worth the very modest cost to play. Tight fairways with fantastic elevations, and fast greens keep you dialed in or else. We even were privy to a mother and baby dear running across one of the fairways. They also have a great stay and play deal which just make this experience even better.
Beautiful setting in NC mountains.
It rained for several holes in middle of round, leaving course wet, when it was already cart path only. Want to return when it is dry. Still enjoyed play.
Addictive!
This mountain course has ups and downs, mountain streams and wildflowers. Plenty of scenery to soften the pain of an errant shot.
We planned to play Sky Valley a lot, but enjoyed Kingwood so much more.
Nice greens
Great course but not worth it on cart paths only days
An excellent course
Kingwood was in great shape when I played there. There has been lots of rain, so it was cart-paths only. Because of all the elevation changes, it's a difficult course to play "cart-paths only". A lot of walking up and down is required.
Beautiful Mtn Course
This course is in pristine condition. Greens are great and running true. Magnificent course with absolute beauty. Takes alot of course management as you should not hit driver just because it is a par 5 or 4. Some holes are real challenging and some are just FUN. I give this course 5 stars.
Kingwood is a beautiful mountain course.
I have always wanted to play Kingwood from the first time I passed by it quite a number of years ago. I grew up on a mountain course in Charlottesville, VA, and love the different nuances of mountain golf. A great place to play and enjoy God's beautiful creation. A short course, it requires placing your shots in the correct position. Try this course, you'll love it!
This course has signature holes everywhere
We enjoyed the challenging holes, since this was first time for my group we did not know what to expect, beautiful layout and course was in great shape for the time of year, looking forward to returning .
