Kingwood Golf Club & Resort
About
Kingwood Golf Club in Clayton is nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, surrounded by nearly 150,000 acres of protected national forest. While playing the course, it's likely you'll hear the roar of the nearby Chattooga River. The course is considered one of Georgia's best, thanks in large part to the stunning location, which lends mature hardwoods, rippling brooks, and lush green hills. The visually stunning golf course can seem intimidating, but four sets of tees guarantee that players of all skill levels can enjoy playing it. The par-71 layout measures just over 6,000 yards, a demanding length given the small greens and tight landing areas. A variety of elevation changes and strategically placed bunkers will test your accuracy at Kingwood G.C. Tee shot placement will also be an important factor in your score.

Ball placement makes course challenging
I like playing Kingwood because the staff is always nice. The course will be pristine as soon as everything greens fully up. greens are slick and some are bi-level. All putt true.
The villas are within walking distance and sight of the putting green and pro-shop. I will continue playing here and getting my friends to play there too!
The course is an enjoyably challenging one.
We played while the Burmada grass was still brown and the greens had been aerated. I would love to play the course when it is in pristine condition. I am sure that it will be in the near future. If the course was in excellent condition, I would not be able to play because of the cost to play. I can play three rounds at my local golf courses for what I would have to pay for one round at Kingwood. If I can find discounts on GolfNow, I would not hesitate to play in prime season.
Fun course with some unique holes
We totally enjoyed our round at Kingwood. The course was in great shape for early spring and the staff was super.
Must play in North East Georgia!
OK. Where do I even begin! This course is great! It has some challenging par fours due to elevation changes and some par fives that you can be putting for eagle. Short, mid and long par threes. This course is on the North Georgia Golf Tour schedule and it does not dissapoint as long as you are controlling your ball flight. Has a bar and grill that overlooks the 9th hole(par three over water). Club pro Lewis Lane was very friendly and courteous. Greens were in great shape! Played in February and this staff makes sure that your round is a rememberable one! Thanks to all of Kingwood Staff for a great golf round!
Great Course!
This is one of,if not the most enjoyable course that I have ever played. You can go low but if you don't watch out it will jump up and bite you. Kingwood is always kept in superb shape, everyone should play it at least once.
Beautiful course
Played here the day after Thanksgiving. Everyone was very friendly. Was paired up with three other players and had a really fun round. The course is very nice. It was challenging for a a new golfer from Florida not used to the elevated greens. Thanks to Doug, Martin and Andrew for their patience with me on the course! Definitely worth a visit. I will be returning next time we are in town.
Great value
Course was emaculate, not a leaf out of place. Greens were perfect, really nice layout in a beautiful setting.
Beautiful course in every way
This course is set in picturesque mountain beauty. But don't let the scenery distract your concentration on the course. It has its challenges which calls for every club in your bag.
Wonderful Golf Course
One of our favorite golf courses anywhere..Well maintained, and you do know you have played Mountain Golf when you finish!! Very friendly Ambassadors and staff!
October at Kingwood
A GREAT golf course - in super condition and the greens not to hard and in super shape. Just watch them downhill putts ! One of the BEST deals for Golfnow in this area ! No dought !
Great Golf Coures and Views
Lewis always makes you feel welcome when you enter the Pro Shop. Fantastic golf course and always in Great shape. If you are ever in the area you must play Kingwood.
fast greens
Had to relearn how to putt after my first putt on the first green - at least 3 times faster than the previous greens I played. It's a shame that several of the players in front of me were too lazy to fix their ballmarks! The greens were soft from rain and the ballmarks were craters. What's wrong with people? Kingwood is a beautiful track and though short in length it makes up for it with difficulty of layout. It is not a bombers golf course! The Golfnow rates are a steal!
Fun and very well kept course
I really enjoyed playing at Kingwood. The staff was very friendly and the course was very well maintained. The course was challenging but still scorable. the greens are challenging but still readable and roll true. I definetly recommend playing here. You will enjoy your round for sure.
Slow play and unfriendly stuff members
Played this course last on a trip with 14 rounds of Golf in TN, NC and SC. Our tee time was pushed back and we had to tee off No 10, 2 holes behind several foursomes which we already caught on No 3. Course is in great shape, greens were super (End of September 2012) and fairways were top. I really enjoyed the back 9 of this course. Unfortunately after 3h 40 minutes we were on Hole 10 ready to tee off. Pace of play is was disgusting. If it takes you over 6 hours to play a round of Golf something is wrong with the course management. We left only playing 9 holes. The comment from the staff was, well its a busy day. Personally I think it's major overbooking, greed and bad management.
Could have been a bad day, but this should not happen, never. If people are not able to play a Golf Course in a foursome at max 4.30h they don't belong on a Golf Course.
On another note on Hole no 5, my wife was missed by a tee shot 5 feet close to hear head. Nobody yelled FOUR. Instead they just laughed. A Ranger was right beside us. Do you think he would have said anything to them? NO. On Hole 6 the fourseome in front of drove back and picked up my ball. On hole 7, they drove back and played my ball. Things like this do NOT belong on a Golf Course.
Summary, great course, great shape, but I would never ever return and bring them my money.
Challenging, but forgiving. Super well-groomed, Very scenic.
All of the above and a wonderful golf course. The only thing I will note is that it is the ONLY golf course that I have ever been on where the greenskeeping staff works in the direction of play. It can be tiresome to have the same mower moving along the course with you. Usually greenskeepers move against the players. I HOPE THE HEAD GREENSKEEPER READS THIS!!!
Beautiful Mountain Course
In the top three favorite courses to play for me. I love this course. Almost always in great shape and very friendly staff. I have to drive 55 miles to get here and it is worth it. If I lived closer, I'd play here at least once a week.
Final holes very challening
Excellent staff--very accomodating to visitors! FInal holes cart path only--stay in fairway! Very scenic and in great shape for August.
