About
Situated along Florida's Gulf Coast, Riverside Golf Club in Ruskin is part of a peaceful retirement community. At just over 6,100 yards from the tips, the golf course is on the short side but it still offers an enjoyable round. From the back tees, the course actually presents quite a formidable test. The layout meanders along a creek before wandering across idyllic farmland and finishing along the river bluffs overlooking Hayes Bayou. The diverse terrain provides an array of scenery as well as a variety of different challenges. Water hazards come into play on several holes and there are several strategically placed bunkers lurking along the greensides, waiting to swallow errant shots. Riverside Golf Club's layout combines more difficult holes with player-friendly features, which makes it approachable for players of any skill level.

The world’s best kept secret. Staff is top notch and the course is sneaky difficult. Arrive early and most of the time you get out early.

Fairway conditions
The fairways were in poor condition as there was more dirt than grass in many locations.

Course was in terrible shape. Tee box and fairways were super dry and no grass. Greens were in good shape but the rest of the course was in bad shape

Very nice track that I have played at least 5 times in the last two months. Very well kept,very friendly environment, pace of play is always good. A bit challenging but a lot of fun to play. Great staff also....

Good Value During High Season
This course is a good value for this time of year in SW Florida and easy to get on and play at a decent pace. Excellent and accommodating staff, decent (albeit slow) greens, good sand traps, fairways a bit thin, tee boxes not in good shape at all. If you have read the other reviews you will know to bring your own water and food. However, if you’re looking for an inexpensive round during the height of tourist season you should consider this course.

Riverside
This course is located within a 55+ community. I found it difficult to locate. . The golf shop allows players to go off as singles and doubles. While playing I saw only four groups - a foursome, then twosome, me, then another single. I caught up with the twosome after the third hole. Play was very slow. By hole 10, the single behind me and I joined forces. It was still slow. We couldn’t get a rhythm going. No water on course or restroom. No ranger on course. No course layout on scorecard. Good news is there were signs as to where the next hole was located. However, you were SOL if a car or truck was obscuring the sidewalk entrance to your hole. That was our case. We were briefly lost as we meandered through the golf community. Not a fun time.

Cart person needed
I was disappointed that on a 80 degree day. That there was not a cart person driving around to see if anyone was thirsty or hungry for a snack or sandwich.. the course had good layout and the greens rolled quite well.
