Course care
They know nothing of drainage on fairways or greens. I don't believe they have a greenskeeper. All traps protecting the greens were removed a few years ago leaving fairway bunkers that are never cared for and not in play anyway. So much potential...

Great Course!
The course was in great shape for February. We got out early and finished our round in just over 4 hours with a foursome. The course offers a challenging and rewarding game of golf. Plenty of elevation changes and doglegs to keep you guessing. This isn't a "grip it and rip it" type of course. You will have to utilize many different clubs off the tee box to put yourself in good positions. I really enjoyed the round and will certainly be back.

Weather and drainage
The course had water issues in the several holes, but you can find a place to move the ball.
It is better than most of the courses I have played a day after heavy rain.

Course to myself
Very cold morning. Frost. Delayed start due to frost and staff having to uncover greens. Knew on the first hole that it wasn't going to be an easy day. Ground frozen. Greens fast. Had to try to compensate for extreme cold. Found I had to use different clubs than normal to get distance. At least I was able to play before returning to Vermont in a few days. Hopefully, I can play one more time.

Challenging course fun to play
Fairways of Canton is a challenging course though not long. For scoring purposes one is required to hit it straight and putt well. The greens are not large, and often have one or more tiers. Greens are in good shape and while not currently fast pin placements can make two putting sometimes a challenge on longer putts due to tiers and breaks. Play was brisk, as we played a twosome in 3 1/2 hours for 18 holes. Course wet but overall in good shape. Administration does a good job in keeping fairways in good shape by often using 90 degree rule especially if a little wet and some holes cart path only. I have played course a number of times and administration does a good job in protecting the course. We had an enjoyable day.
