Red Bridge Golf and Country Club
About
Red Bridge Golf & Country Club in Locust is routed through stands of mature trees that give the course a peacefully secluded feel. The layout wanders across gently rolling hills, providing a variety of elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. There is a stream that runs throughout the golf course, coming into play on a few holes. The course is seemingly long at 7,100 yards from the back tees but it's more forgiving than it appears, which means players of all skill levels can enjoy the golf course. The design relied heavily on the natural features of the landscape, allowing the course to blend seamlessly into the natural surroundings while also shaping natural hazards. There are also strategically placed bunkers throughout Red Bridge that complement rather than overtake the natural challenges.

Wonderful course
Challenging layout, but not too difficult. Very good course condition. Greens were quick. A very enjoyable round!
Great Course
This course will test every part of your game. It is a hidden gem in the Charlotte area.
Beautiful course and a good challenge
Booked my tee time via the golf course website's pre-pay rate ($29.00)….which was ten dollars cheaper than anything else out there.
Played early in the morning on a fairly saturated course.
This is an amazing place for the value. Beautiful piece of property. A lot of elevation changes, tall trees lining holes, and not much housing or commercial development around. For much of the course, you feel you are way out there in the wilderness on a well manicured golf course overall.
Greens are very very nice. In excellent condition.
Tee to green is above average in terms of maintenance.
Its also a tough course that will put you in defensive situations quite a bit. On your approaches, you are going to have the ball slightly above or below your feet a lot. For many, including myself, that makes it tough to hit an approach shot close to the hole. And as others point out, I think it plays long. And because of the elevation changes, amazing vistas, etc…..sometime the course just visually looks longer than it is. You have to believe the yardages (which seem correct on the course) and commit to your shot.
The greens often have multiple levels and a lot of undulation. Given that its tough to get the ball close with your approach shots, there are a lot three-putt to be had on this course unless you are an excellent lag putter.
This is a challenging course, no question, but a beautiful one and hard to imagine a better value.
For those looking for a walkable course, this course is NOT walkable.
Impressive course!!
Drove from Winston Salem to give this gem a try. Read all the reviews and honestly was excited/ scared to see what we would get. To address some of the previous reviews/ issues. We had a golf now tee time and were treated like royalty. As far as pace of play I honestly think the drive between holes has a lot to do with long rounds as well as the VERY deep rough. Solution? Don't be on a hurry to play this place and take a moment look around. It's an absolutely a beautiful tract with nature galore and no houses! (A rarity these days). The guy in the clubhouse was extremely friendly and very helpful with tips for virgins like us. When we played greens were not too fast and fair. Conditions were the best I've seen yet this year ANYWHERE and I play lots of different courses. I wish it was closer to me but that's the breaks. Given the choice to drive down to Pinehurst for a day or this place.. I'm road tripping to Locust ! From a decent golfer who relishes in variety to all fellow golfers out there... Play this place at least once. You will not regret it whether you get a "deal" or pay full price.
Nice course
The greens are in great condition. Fairways are nice. The rough was definitely tough! You want to stay in the fairway. The layout is interesting. The course plays long. I wouldn't recommend playing from the tips unless you are a low handicapper. Highly recommended.
Awesome Course!!!!
I love playing at Red Bridge! The course is both challenging and beautiful. I also love how they always have Internet specials to help with the rising cost of playing golf in the Summer months. I would recommend this course to anyone willing to take a short drive down to Locust, NC. You won't be disappointed.
Price is right.
Very nice course, drove from Huntersville just to play this course. Greens were very nice. Little bit slow but very green. Fairways had plenty of grass, but do not hit your ball out of the fairway or you will have a problem finding it. Not sure if I like #18, from the white tees its 618 yard par 5, I'm not really that long off the tee so it makes it hard to par from the white tees, I would move up to the gold the next time I play. Course was in great shape.
Pace of play
Course in great shape. It was a fun layout but took 5 hours to play. A couple of groups in front of our threesome held up everyone. When arriving on hole 18, four groups on hole. Great course, had a great time but pace of play is an issue.
Always a fun course
Always a great course to play and the greens are in great condition. Andrew is always a courteous employee.
Great Value, Great Layout
14.2 HCP. Course played long and had amazing views. Fairways and Greens were in excellent condition. The course was challenging but did not discourage. I would play here again, and will be a course I bring my out of state buddies to give them a taste of golfing in NC..
Great Course for the Value
Red Bridge is my favorite course to play in the area for the money. Red Bridge always has great offers on Golf Now, and the course is always a challenge. Each time I play the course is in great shape, it is a challenging layout but not impossible, and doesn't break the bank. You can challenge yourself by playing the back two set of tees, or you can have a more normal outing by playing the middle tees.
Surprise
First time to this course and was pleasantly surprised. Booked online and got a great deal.
PROS:
- Tees, Fairways, Greens in very nice shape.
-greens very challenging
-A variety of tee boxes for all levels. I played the tips for 7000yds and it was a great challenge.
-Par 5's were fun. 648 yds for #18......cool.
CONS:
-Had a weed growth around the greens. Didn't allow you to effectively putt from just off the greens.
-The pin placements were fun, but were downright unfair on a number of the holes. If you are a beginner almost impossible.
-My number one complaint by far is that there is no way of knowing what the hole has on it. I played a really good round (81) for the first time playing it, but I easily lost 3-5 strokes because there was a hazard ahead that I new nothing about. I hit a great drive on one hole, only to drive up and notice that I put it in the middle of a pond. NEED PICS ON CARD OR SIGNS.
Fix those few things and this course can be fantastic. Thanks.
Overpriced for current condition
I actually called for a tee time and talked to a human being. Unfortunately he never mentioned the greens still had punch holes. I showed up, paid the above average fee, then walked on putting green with punch holes. The fee was full price, no discount for greens as bumpy as a teenager's face. I felt so bad because I knew you had no chance of making a decent putt your entire round. The fairways were cut high, so no spin was able. The course has amazing potential, so I may try again when greens come back, but not for $53. The front pin placement on #9 is kind of a joke. There is no hole outlines anywhere, not on the scorecard or hole placard. If you haven't been there before, you are given no clue where to hit.
well made course
unfortunately closed first nine holes, played back nine twice.nice layout, well maintained fairways, greens roll very well. one thing 18th hole par five is too long even though hazard before green.
We appreciate your comment. The whole course is in great shape now, we hope to see you soon.
A Bit Unfair
This was my first time playing the course and found it be a bit unfair -- and pretty difficult for the average player. Too much trouble around the greens, too much OB to the right, and VERY POOR pin placements on very undulating greens.
Starter was an absolute jerk! i know others have had problems with him too!
I showed up a hour early for my tee time, paid 50 for the round at 8:30am on Sunday. Went to the range for 30 mins or so and then to the practice green. Waited on the group I was paired with until 8:25 on the practice green and never seen anyone. Proceeded to the 1st tee as usual 5 mins early. Got to the starter handed my ticket and told him I was supposed to be paired with three gentlemen at 8:30. He told me I was late and should have been there earlier and had to play behind another 4 some alone. I asked again can I please catch the group because they were in the fairway on number one and he said "fine whatever" go down there and leave your cart. Went to the tee box to hit my first drive and he came strolling up and said no pick your ball up and go to the fairway you can start from there! You should have been here on time. I was 5 mins early to the tee and was at the range and practice green for the last hour with no heads up they were sending off early. I said I paid 50 for this round and I can't hit my first tee ball are you joking! Also it was 8:28 when I was standing on the tee!! Told me to just hit it and let's go jumped in my cart and rode with me to my ball. After I caught the group on the green he started laying my stuff on the other guys cart and drove off. I have never been treated like this by any staff at any course! The check in guys are always friendly and I have played here over 20 times. If this is the starter and how they allow him to treat customers I will never be back. There were 4 other gentlemen waiting on the tee watching this all happen, like the guy was crazy. I'm sure I'm not the first and won't be the last to complain about this starter he shouldn't have any interaction with customers!!!
We are sorry you had this experience. Could you please contact the GM at (704) 781-5231. We will address this issue and improve. We appreciate your input and hope you will come again for a much better round.
Good Day at Red Bridge
Played with my son. Were paired with another father/son twosome. Was a very enjoyable round on the day before Father's Day. The course was in really great shape. It was pretty dry and fast. The greens may have been the fastest that I've ever played on. Tee boxes were quite hard and it was difficult to plant you tee. Overall, it was in really good shape...
Thank you. The course is in great shape and we hope to see you soon.
Beautiful course
Love this course. Some of the staff are pricks, corse was in good shape though. Good experience though.

Decent course, slow, no club house/marshal
Overall I like the course Itself. Greens and fairways were in good shape, tee boxes were mediocre.
We played on a Tuesday morning, but were stuck behind 2 really slow foursomes all day with no help from the club. Took almost 5 hours to play which was painful.
No food to speak of at the turn either, which made for a long day.
Thank you for your comment. The course is in great shape and we are adding and training starter/ranger staff.
Great Value
Great course short drive from east charlotte, well worth it will return to play again.
Thank you for your comment. We hope to see you soon.
