Good golf
A little bit pricey, but still pretty good conditions.
Trashiest course I’ve played in years
Greens were compete rubbish. Alll of them were covered in sand and a lot had dig out, unplayable collars. Fairways were fine, but there is basically no rough, making it a pretty thoughtless game play. The course was crowded and despite signs saying there’s penalties for not keeping pace, it’s not enforced. We had a group of 4 and were waiting on most shots and there were 9 total carts on hole 10 when we made the turn.
The single most absurd thing I’ve ever experienced on a golf course occurred on hole 5 - when the ranger came to us (the only time we saw him despite having the slowest round of my life) and informed us that we had played on the “owners tee box” the previous hole and that he’s been asked to escort anyone who does this off the course. After explaining to him that we just followed the slobs in front of us, he told us that was the owners son and he was the one that reported us. He “gave us the benefit of the doubt” and let us play on.
Dude, I made a tee time for $80 on GolfNow and you have a special tee box right behind the ladies tees. If it’s that sacred, I’d suggest taking money you’re not spending on the greens to put a sign up instead of having your rangers harassing people.
Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear you didn't have the best experience when playing Olde Sycamore. On our website, it states that we are top-dressing our greens bi-weekly with sand, a standard maintenance practice for these new greens. That occurred earlier that week and there was may have been a small amount still visible that Friday. Our website also stated that we were actively repairing portions of the collars, therefore the rounds were at a discounted rate during that time.
The incident involving our ranger was an unfortunate situation and was due to a miscommunication via the Pro Shop. That should not have happened in that manner and we have addressed that so nothing like that will happen going forward.
We did speak to the group in front of your (the owner's son's group) who had tee'd off at 11:51a and, while they said the front 9 was a bit slow, they finished at around 4:15p which would indicate they played in just under our stated paced of play of 4 hours and 30 minutes.
We truly do hope that you come back and play again as we aim to make all of our guests' experience a great one!

Overall Good Course
this was my first time playing here. I average high 80s to mid 90s on most courses I play. We played the member hybrid tees which put us around 6000 yards.
The greens were reinstalled sometime late last year so they are still rock hard and its difficult to hold the greens on approaches. Even though they were hard they weren't lightning fast. The pin placement on this particular day seemed to be themed 'sucker pins' for most of the holes.
The only negative thing I have to say about the entire day was that even tough they have updated golf carts there is no cart GPS in them. I feel lots of other courses that are in less condition and others that are cheaper to play have cart GPS. For someone playing the course for the first time or first few times it would be beneficial to have.
The clubhouse is nice, and the staff was super friendly. I'll be back for sure.

Not worth your time
Gimmick hole after gimmick hole, greens in bad shape, tee boxes often with poor grass, collars around green are under repair…other courses invite area offer far better conditions and layout for the price

While there are some holes that require specific shots, especially off of the tee, they wouldn't necessarily classify as "gimmicky". The greens are actually in great shape, rolling true and smooth. The golf course maintenance team is actively addressing the problematic collars. We do hope that you would come back and play again!
An enjoyable round
Course was very interesting.
With newly laid greens (1 year ago apparently) and lots of rain, plus top dressing, the greens were mostly slow and a little inconsistent.
But I'm sure we didn't see them at best.

Thank you for your review and feedback. When we top-dressed this past week, we did some verticutting to help reduce thatch buildup and "graininess". That can be a little tough on the grass so we allow it a little extra time to recover. This lasts a short amount of time and the greens recover quickly. The greens are constantly improving as they mature. We do hope you come out to the course again soon!
Poor conditions
Had a 6'm in front of us. Round took 5 hours. Very little water to drink on course. Area around all greens in poor shape I understand they just put greens in but why charge $96.00. Not at all a course worth the $$$. Will not return.
Thank you for your review and feedback. I am sorry to hear your experience wasn't able to exceed your expectations. If you could, what day did you play so that we may look into the 6-some issue. Groups over 4 players are not allowed and would not have been sent onto the course that way.
Also, we do have water stations located on holes #8 and #16, the driving range (which is driven by when heading to #10), vending machines on holes #5 & 13, and the clubhouse as you come off of hole #9.
We are actively working on some of the more trouble areas of the course as we strive to provide the best experience to all of our guests. We do hope you reconsider and come back to visit us!
Further Improvement needed
First time playing this course since it had so many poor reviews for the last couple years. The greens are new and are in good shape. However the fringes are basically discontinuous and need extra attention. Tee boxes need a lot of work. Grass is very patchy and a few are not level. I was most shocked that there were only 2 water stations on the entire course. It was in the 90s with no wind when I played, and almost unbearable without water.

Overall Nice
Enjoyed the round .staff were very nice and helpful. Course in good shape though greens had been sanded and punched and many had issues on first cut. We played in 4.5 hours but back nine got jammed up s bit..

Striker Course
The staff was very accommodating & even gave me a yardage book. The course was in good condition and the pace of play was excellent for twilight golf(3 hours). Great strikers course with several holes requiring ball placement with less than a driver. Greens rolled true, fairways had green even grass, and the bunkers were acceptable. Great course!

I didn’t play it back in the day but I’ve played it a couple times in the past year and I love it. It’s on the newer side and the greens are improving everytime I go.

Poor course communication
The course was highly recommended by a friend. The staff was super friendly and the front nine was really nice.
We made the turn to find that they sanded the greens on the entire back nine and no one told us in advance. The greens were unplayable which was extremely frustrating. I am not a local and this was the only course I had a chance to play in Charlotte.
They should not have charged us full rate and should have posted it on their website.
Never again.
