Olde Sycamore Golf Club

this was my first time playing here. I average high 80s to mid 90s on most courses I play. We played the member hybrid tees which put us around 6000 yards.

The greens were reinstalled sometime late last year so they are still rock hard and its difficult to hold the greens on approaches. Even though they were hard they weren't lightning fast. The pin placement on this particular day seemed to be themed 'sucker pins' for most of the holes.

The only negative thing I have to say about the entire day was that even tough they have updated golf carts there is no cart GPS in them. I feel lots of other courses that are in less condition and others that are cheaper to play have cart GPS. For someone playing the course for the first time or first few times it would be beneficial to have.

The clubhouse is nice, and the staff was super friendly. I'll be back for sure.

Gimmick hole after gimmick hole, greens in bad shape, tee boxes often with poor grass, collars around green are under repair…other courses invite area offer far better conditions and layout for the price

Course was very interesting.

With newly laid greens (1 year ago apparently) and lots of rain, plus top dressing, the greens were mostly slow and a little inconsistent.

But I'm sure we didn't see them at best.

Friendly staff, good facilities and well managed...

Had a 6'm in front of us. Round took 5 hours. Very little water to drink on course. Area around all greens in poor shape I understand they just put greens in but why charge $96.00. Not at all a course worth the $$$. Will not return.

First time playing this course since it had so many poor reviews for the last couple years. The greens are new and are in good shape. However the fringes are basically discontinuous and need extra attention. Tee boxes need a lot of work. Grass is very patchy and a few are not level. I was most shocked that there were only 2 water stations on the entire course. It was in the 90s with no wind when I played, and almost unbearable without water.

Enjoyed the round .staff were very nice and helpful. Course in good shape though greens had been sanded and punched and many had issues on first cut. We played in 4.5 hours but back nine got jammed up s bit..

Course was in good shape. Greens need a little work. Fairways were great. Cart girl and starter super friendly.

The staff was very accommodating & even gave me a yardage book. The course was in good condition and the pace of play was excellent for twilight golf(3 hours). Great strikers course with several holes requiring ball placement with less than a driver. Greens rolled true, fairways had green even grass, and the bunkers were acceptable. Great course!

I didn’t play it back in the day but I’ve played it a couple times in the past year and I love it. It’s on the newer side and the greens are improving everytime I go.

The course was highly recommended by a friend. The staff was super friendly and the front nine was really nice.

We made the turn to find that they sanded the greens on the entire back nine and no one told us in advance. The greens were unplayable which was extremely frustrating. I am not a local and this was the only course I had a chance to play in Charlotte.

They should not have charged us full rate and should have posted it on their website.

Never again.

I had the pleasure of playing Olde Sycamore this past weekend and was paired with a great group. Overall, I had a really enjoyable experience, but I did want to share a bit of feedback regarding the pro shop check-in process.

This is the second time I’ve encountered a similar situation, and the front desk has come across as somewhat cold and borderline unwelcoming. During this visit, there was a small mix-up with my cart, which in itself wasn’t a big deal. When I checked in, I was told my playing partner already had a cart. I stepped outside, then paused and came back in thinking there might be an extra cart available, as I prefer to ride alone.

When I asked about that, one of the staff members came up quickly from the back and responded in a way that felt a bit confrontational, stating that single carts were not allowed. I moved past the interaction, but it did set the tone.

Out at the range, Brenn (who was excellent, by the way) helped clarify everything. He explained the single rider policy, the additional charge, and the limitation on cart availability. That explanation made complete sense and was all I really needed. He also helped sort out the situation when we realized my playing partner didn’t actually have a cart yet either, and got me squared away quickly.

Shortly after teeing off, another cart joined us saying they were part of our group, which was totally fine—but it added to the earlier confusion. Between everything, I ended up missing some warm-up time on the range and putting green.

I wanted to share this mainly because the experience could be improved with clearer communication upfront and a slightly more welcoming tone at check-in.

That said, I really did have a great round. The course was in fantastic shape—especially the greens, which rolled incredibly well and made for a fun challenge. I also enjoyed the food, and the bar staff were very friendly.

I appreciate the overall experience and just wanted to pass along some feedback that could help make it even better.

I wrote this plays off years ago due to bad conditions, mostly with the greens. The price never matched the experience, not even close.

Credit to the team, because this place is in great shape now that they replaced the greens. Because they’re new, they are a bit bouncy but they rolled so nicely. Rest of the course was in really good shape as well.

Looking forward to a year from now once the greens have settled in. Going to be an elite track.

Finally worth the price!

Loved this course, definitely my new favorite. Course was in great shape. Great greens without the ridiculous slops. Fast but manageable.
