Olde Sycamore Golf Club

The new greens were in good shape and the removal of trees opened up some approach shots. Staff was very friendly.

Very disappointed in the condition of the course. Course was closed for several weeks to replace the greens. The fairways were in good shape but the tee boxes and sand traps were worse than they were before the course shut down. Had to wait at every hole after the 5th. Even paired with a group in front of us on the back 9 and we still were waiting at every hole. Tee times need to be spread out more and force people to skip holes if they are holding everyone up. Some of the brand new greens already had issues. More than one had the same patchiness from disease like the previous greens. Wouldn't pay more than $50 for this course in its condition. And that is one the high end. BB lost members because he cared more about the retail golfer more than the members. And that is fine as long as you make the course worth it.

New greens are nice. Greens are really firm and fast. The ball doesn’t check on chip shots the ball tries the check but top spins takes over and the ball runs. Not a lot of break in putts, if you play a half cup out it will break in the hole or roll by the edge depending on pace.

The fairways and tee boxes are in great shape as normal. I can’t wait until next year for the greens to soften and become more reactive and to see if they can tolerate the weather unlike the previous greens.

Having new greens give me the justification to play this course again. Previous greens were burnt and painted over. Not acceptable for $80 a round.

Although I've been out of state much past few years, I just realized how much I love coming back to Olde Sycamore. It is comfortable, quaint, beautiful and perfectly challenging but not on every hole. Strikes the right balance between enjoyable and extremely challenging. Well manicured and extremely well managed and run professionallly. I hope to be back soon and often once it reopens!

Staff was pleasant. Many greens had dried out/fungus spots for a collared shirt required course.

I don’t know what’s going on happened with this course but I played in early May. The greens and tees boxes barely have grass on them. Yes the greens. I’ve never seen such terrible greens. It’s crazy that their charging the amour their charging and not giving anyone a heads up.

Not worth $80, ownership shows up and pushes everyone around the course for his enjoyment and conditions are bad. Fun layout, decent bar and kitchen. Rarely see a booze cart.

I’m sure they will again be up to their usual standards once they have their greens redone. I would have expected a better rate considering the current conditions. I love the layout but even when the conditions were good they are expensive to play.

We were traveling to Charlotte for the PGA and I was satisfied with having found Olde Sycamore to play a round at. Would recommend.

Tee boxes were a little beat up and a bunch were slanted/on an angle so teeing off with ball above your feet. Greens were not good. Very bumpy and bald in spots so putting was difficult. Know they had an issue last year with the greens so maybe it’s better but still a ways to go. Wouldn’t pay the $80 to play here again until that’s fixed. Much better options for same price point.

The course was in great shape, (4-23-25) fun & challenging layout. Lots of bunkers and creeks & various hazards to keep in mind when your playing. A little pricey but definitely fun. Definitely check this course out if your in the area!

Course was slow to start since they pack tee times in every 9 minutes. Would not let you drive cart on the course even though it was dry. Because it was so slow they did allow it and it sped up the round. Looks like they are doing a lot of work and it will be nice when completed. The greens are terrible for a course of this caliber. They are replacing them this summer but they put effort into the the greens at this moment.

$80 for good fairways, average tee boxes and terrible greens isn’t worth it. They are reworking the tee boxes and greens this summer, but hopefully they will not increase round prices.

I would not waste your money in the next few months.
