Golf Club At Wescott Plantation - Oak Forest Course
About
Situated in the heart of Lowcountry, the Golf Club at Wescott Plantation is part of one of the area's oldest plantations. There are 27 holes of golf available at the club, which are divided into three nine-hole courses: Oak Forest, Burn Kill, and Black Robin. Although each golf course has a different character and scenery, they are all dappled with centuries-old live oaks and wetlands. The Oak Forest Course takes its name from the original plantation and has wider fairways than the other two courses. Lush vegetation frames each hole and the classic bunkering embodies the traditional feel of the course. The eighth hole is the signature hole of the entire golf course, distinct for both its scenery and difficulty. Par will be tough on this par 3 with a lake bordering the entire left side.

Worth the money
I visited Charleston/Mt. Pleasant for a long weekend and played three courses,..this was the best of the courses especially for the money. First day I played Patriots Point....i listened to the hype and was underwhelmed....especially paying about $100 per person. Heard later that Patriots Point was apparently built on a Landfill ....which now makes sense...very flat and virtually no trees. The second and third day we played Charleston National...nice track, and the price of $46/person was nice, but you played 1-9 holes twice since they were working on new cart paths on the back nine. Wescott had a even better layout, lots of beautiful and challenging holes for $60/person. Only gripe was that the rough desperately needed mowing...later heard that Tropical Storm Debby drenched the area so they were late to mow. The net is that although it was a little drive from Mt/ Pleasant, the course was worth the effort.
Good, but...
I really like the course and pace of play is great. However, no warning on the driving range and putting green being closed, so no warm-up. Also, cart path only and the course was soaked, they have a drainage problem
Course was a gem!!
This was my first time playing Wescott. I wasn't sure what to expect at first, but once I got there I was already impressed. The clubhouse was nice and so was the staff, but nothing came close to how good the course was. I would play this course 100 out of 100 times. Fairways, 2nd cut, bunkers and greens were all in mint condition. The course is challenging, but the fairways are wide enough where you aren't punished too severely if you happen to spray a drive left/right. I was pleasantly surprised with how much I liked the course. I 100% recommend it and think you're cheating yourself out of a good afternoon by not playing it. --- Careful though, there are 10ft alligators on some of the holes and there are copperheads everywhere. I saw 2 in just one round, so be careful in the weeds.
Play day
Overall it was great experience as usual except thid time had to play behind last team in a tournament for the first 9 holes. I didn't get paired with anyone.
Nice overall, some tee boxes need help
Course overall was quite nice. Employees pleasant.
Would have liked a bit more info on scorecard, or perhaps a yardage book. As a 1st time player here, I could've avoided some trouble if I knew the course better.
All fairways and greens were in excellent shape, 4-5 tee boxes needed repairs.
Pace of play was excellent, price good value for conditions. Would gladly play again.
Course Great!
We enjoyed ourselves. We would have loved to have an opportunity to order some food after 5:00 PM. We had to find a place away from the golf course. Otherwise the golf was alot of fun.
Staff were horrendous at all levels!
This was an affordable course so we went out to try it out. From the moment we walked in the front desk was rude to us as we didn’t have the “professional golf” look. Then when we went to pickup the carts they made rude comments about how the course was for golfer’s only and assuming were weren’t the type. Course had recently plugged the greens so the experience was below average and the staff hospitality was horrible. Would not recommend! So many better courses with trained staff who treat golfers with respect.
Not worth the price
Myself and one other played black robin/oak forest from the whites. Course was fun and food/drink prices are average. However, the tee boxes and greens seemed poorly maintained. One tee box was practically all sand and many greens were infested with weeds or mostly sand. More than one green threw sand up when hitting on. If the course was $20 cheaper per round then I would think it was worth it. When paying $75 per round, there are other options that are cheaper and better.
Not Bad, but Course Needs Some Love
Overall, had a very enjoyable round.
Beautiful Monday on this solar eclipse day. I really enjoyed the course layout. Well thought out bunkers and water hazards, but not too many to take away the enjoyment of crushing some long bombs off the tee.
My biggest setbacks were several of the greens were in really rough shape, fighting some kind of bad growth that did not allow for smooth rolling putts.
Several of the tee boxes were also not much more than a dirt/sandbox to tee off from.
Fairway were well kept and so was the rough.
Pace of play could have been better for a Monday, first nine were great, but our assigned back nine was annoyingly slow. Sure we were a threesome and a groups of 4 let us pass, but after playing one more hole we caught up to another group. Would have been great to see a Ranger out there encouraging proper pace of play.
