Golf Club At Wescott Plantation - Black Robin Course
About
The Golf Club at Westcott Plantation may be owned by the city of North Charleston but it is far from being your typical municipal course. The 27-hole layout is divided into three nines: Black Robin, Burn Kills, and Oak Forest. They each take their name from the plantation's long history, it's one of the oldest in the area. Care was taken to preserve the centuries-old live oaks and pristine wetlands that are scattered throughout the entire course. Black Robin is the tightest of the three nines with small greens that make it the most challenging as well. Every hole is framed by lush vegetation and various streams, ponds, and wetlands come into play throughout the course. The golf course ends with a welcome chance for a birdie in case you didn't fare too well on the tougher preceding holes.

rivals most myrtle beach courses
wet conditions and cart path only could not diminish my enthusiasm playing this course.Greens were in very good condition and rolling nicely. if I lived in the area it would be a weekly choice
Improved bunkers
I reviewed this course before and noted in the review that the bunkers turned from sand hazards into water hazards every time it rains. They recently redid all of the bunkers on this 27 hole course. They now drain well and are much improved.
We were only able to play nine. Rain came in. Unfortunately we booked as a hot deal so golf course could not give rain check. I guess you get what you pay for. I don’t think I will be using hot deals going forward.
Friendly Place and Good Course
I play Wescott whenever I’m in the Charleston area. It’s a welcoming place with three nines—one of which was unfortunately closed for work being completed. They are sinking some money into the place redoing the bunkers. Because the one nine was closed we experienced some slow play. But we still enjoyed the course. It’s well worth a visit. Shout out to Maggie the starter. She is a gem.
Course was well groomed
The course was in good shape considering all the rain that had occurred recently. So it was cart path only and the fairways and fringe was very saturated. But it was a pleasant round of golf nonetheless.
Great course, enjoyable play
The greens were near perfect and the course layout made for enjoyable play. The staff was friendly and the starter paired me with a group that plays every Sunday. The fairways are wide open so you can really gets some distance
Don’t play here if it has recently rained.
Sun was shining but the last two days were rainy. I played here before and the course was fast with lots of hazards (water, bunkers and the like). It was a good experience. The last two days was A lot of rain. There were large puddles in the fairway and most of the bunkers. The ground does not drain well because there is too much clay in the soil. If you went into a bunker you would likely lose your ball because the water does not drain and is a brownish color. I paid for a full round but could not enjoy fishing to (not) find my ball in a bunker. I quit after nine holes. Do not play here if it has recently rained.
Great course friendly atmosphere.
Driving range is competitive, drinks are resonably priced, and 3 nine hole courses to complete a well rounded 18. Be careful though, greens are fast!
fun day
I was a single got paired with a fun group and had a good dog at the turn.
Great course
Unfortunately there was a tournament going on so I only got to play Oaks twice. Don’t get me wrong it was an amazing course and fun to play. Just wished I could have tried a different course.
Cool Course
Three courses, all fun and challenging. Lots of wild life and beauty while hunting for errant shots!
Enjoyable
This course has 3 nines of which I played two. The course is rather open with wide fairways. The greens on the first nine had been recently top dressed, so they didn't roll true. The greens on the back side, however, did roll true with average speed. It was worth the money I paid.
Always playable
Wescott is my "go-to" course. It's always in good shape and the staff is very helpful. The fairways are in great shape and the greens roll true (but tricky sometimes). You won't be disappointed
Nice course for the money
The course wasn’t in the best shape due to all the rain and the recent aerating of the greens. But it is a nice course with wide fairways and good greens. The staff, especially Maggie, were welcoming and a good resource.
