Golf Club At Wescott Plantation - Black Robin Course
About
The Golf Club at Westcott Plantation may be owned by the city of North Charleston but it is far from being your typical municipal course. The 27-hole layout is divided into three nines: Black Robin, Burn Kills, and Oak Forest. They each take their name from the plantation's long history, it's one of the oldest in the area. Care was taken to preserve the centuries-old live oaks and pristine wetlands that are scattered throughout the entire course. Black Robin is the tightest of the three nines with small greens that make it the most challenging as well. Every hole is framed by lush vegetation and various streams, ponds, and wetlands come into play throughout the course. The golf course ends with a welcome chance for a birdie in case you didn't fare too well on the tougher preceding holes.

It was challenging but fun.
We booked the time because of aerification (expecting a challenge on the greens). The greens were in great shape. In fact, the tee boxes, fairways and greens were great. It was fun.
Great Course
Fairways and tee boxes in great shape. A few greens had issues. Conditions great overall. Will play there again.
Good course & good value
Wescott is a very good course with the 3 nine ole courses. The different courses makes each round different.
Challenging but fun
A fun unpredictable course esspecially for first experience at the course, greens become firm mid day. Nice experience overall.
Terrible
The greens on all 27 holes are the worst in the whole area. There are much cheaper courses in the low country with much better conditions.
Great outing.
The staff at Wescott were friendly, patient, and accommodating--especially for one who enjoys setting out on his own. Wescott Golf Club presents one with several tracks to play, manicured landscapes, practice areas with which to prepare for the challenges ahead--and an enjoyable cart ride. Moreover, I found my experience overall to be a relaxing and fun.
Disappointed in my favorite course in Charleston
First of all I love this course and it's always my first option, but the greens were absolutely terrible. So many dead spots that it pretty much made putting not even worth it. I'd say somewhere around 30-40% of the green was damaged on all 18 holes of the 27 they have and I played on.. Love the course and its staff but if I'd had seen or was notified by the staff I wouldn't have paid $48. I know it happens and it's hard to keep everything perfect. First bad experience I've ever had there.
Refund?
The greens were absolutely horrible. They just aerated the greens and it was basically a sand trap and the other greens were half dead. Why would they charge full price knowing the greens were so bad? Huge disappointment.
Nice round of golf
I played this course for the first time and enjoyed it very much. Nice course layout and very friendly staff.
Rough Greens
The greens were not in good shape. Large bare spots on all the greens. They rolled better than anticipated once seeing the greens. The condition did affect putting. I was surprised to see Wescott permitting 5-somes. This group of five slowed play. I saw Wescott personnel drive by this group and not say anything to them. I play here often and will play again but will wait a few weeks to see how the greens fill in.
Excellent value
My husband and I played this course twice while vacationing in the area. We tend to play later in the day (1or 2 pm), so only had a few fast moving singles in front of us and practically had the place to ourselves,. Greens are still growing in and should look better in a few weeks. Overall, a good value and nice course!
The worst
!!WARNING!!WARNING!! DONT PLAY WESCOTT!!
Been playing here and living here since 2002. Saturday will be my last time playing here. Slow pace, no control by management, brings the worst golfers and I'm not talking score or abilities I'm talking about not knowing when to let other groups play through when you are slow, people behind you hitting balls over your head when you are waiting on the group in front of you. Trash laying on the ground all over. No ranger monitoring pace of play. And I'm sorry but blue jeans don't belong on the golf course. In summery, there is absolutely zero management at wescott. This course is all about the dollars. How many people can we pack in, and they don't care who they hurt in doing that. This is not my first time playing here, so don't think that this guy is angry just by one bad day cause it isn't just this one day. Like I said I've been playing here since 2002, prob played here over a hundred times and it has never changed, only gotten worse. Then wait till its prime golf season and they want you to pay 55 dollars to play. Never again! WARNING!! WARNING!! DON'T PLAY WESCOTT!!
Winter golf
It's wet! Course was in winter condition. Greens very slow except near the cup where people had them packed like they're supposed to be.
Challenging but Fair
I played this course with 3 friends on 2/19/16. Check In staff were very professional, carts were excellent and the course was Challenging but Fair. Course conditions were above average with some rain saturated areas. Price on Golf Now was somewhat higher than other courses I have played of same quality.
Decent Layout
First time playing the course, played Oak Forest and Burn Hill. Oak Forest was more forgiving and as long as you can drive the ball straight, there isn't a lot of trouble, Burn Hill had a narrow fairway and you could find yourself in the water or in the woods if you didn't drive down the middle. The biggest dissapointment was that the fairways were muddy and in poor shape, pretty much every shot you got mud on your ball, the greens were like cement and looked like artificial fertilizer was put on the greens but you simply couldn't get the ball near the hole. I think the most dissapointing part was the cost, 46 dollars on a course that I don't believe was worth 20 for this time of the year, I think once the fairways green up and they can get the greens in decent shape, this would be a nice course, but I would avoid for the next couple of months.
a little wet
This course is a great bang for the buck but doesnt seem to drain very well.
Wet and sloppy
The course was unusually muddy for a little rain a day prior. At this time of the year the grass is dormant so the only green on the course we're the greens that were dyed that color. You constantly had to move your ball to find a half way dry spot to hit from. The course should adjust their prices to reflect how playable the course is. I have played the course before so I know how nice it can be. The layout is very good and the fact that that it has 27 holes, the pace stays pretty quick throughout the round. I do recommend this course and will play it again myself.
Soggy conditions
This is a nice course but we had to much rain over the weekend so the course did not dry out plus it is still winter time. I'll try this course next Monday again should be dry out by then.
my afternoon at Wescott Plantation
I played a nine that was closed that day, I was the only golfer on the track , it was absolutely beautiful,
the fairways were fairley dry the greens were extremely fast and sloped, it was beautiful
