Golf Club At Wescott Plantation - Burn Kill Course
About
The Golf Club at Westcott Plantation is a 27-hole course that is situated within one of the area's oldest plantations. The beauty of the Lowcountry is evident throughout the golf course with centuries-old oak trees framing all the layouts and lush vegetation along every hole. The names of the courses: Oak Forest, Burn Kill, and Black Robin, all have origins in the plantation's history. Burn Kill is tighter off the tees than Oak Forest, but more generous than Black Robin. The golf course has a classic bunkering style and there are streams, ponds, and wetlands interspersed throughout for added challenge. The 8th hole is one of the most unique holes of the entire course. On this par 3, the black and blue tees attack the green from a completely different angle than the white, green, and red.

Golfer Reviews
Nice layout, good pace
Friendly staff and nice layout. Went off as a twosome with my son, good place of play ahead of us. Course had recently aerated greens, they had not yet recovered. Only course condition complaint is the bunkers, they were washed out and crusty. Would recommend for the price.
Worth visiting
We played this course following a day of heavy rain. Understandably it wasn’t at its best but a very solid lay out and very friendly staff. Would like to visit again when we return to the area later this summer
Great layout
First time I played but had a great time. Forgiving layout allowed recovery from some errant shots helping you save your game. Lots of water on the course but should be expected considering all the rain that has fallen.
This course has good variety and challenges
Excellent course layout. You will be challenged both for beginning and experienced players. Great staff especially the starter “Maggie “. I book a tee time whenever I come to Charleston.
Hot round
Started on time, very friendly staff. 100 degrees out but shot less than the temperature. Course was in great shape. The ball rolled and the greens were holding. Will be back again.
Good test
The layout of this course provides a good test of your game. Plenty of dog legs, ponds, and well positioned bunkers are lurking, though the fairways are wide. My wife and I enjoyed our round at Westcott.
Better than ever!
Couldn’t be happier; the course was in fine condition, the staff friendly as ever and the pace of play was terrific! It was like playing a private course with no one in front or in back of us. Maggie, the starter, is the best!!
Good course for a muni
Played nine holes in league play. Three nines available; played Burn Kill which is between hardest and easiest. Course in Ok condition. Greens true, but fairways still to grow in. Good driving range and great clubhouse/bar available.
Wonderful track with a great layout.
Wescott is a great course, 27 holes and they all have their different challenges to them. Greens were a little slow because of the rain but the greens were beautiful.
Enjoy the pace of the rounds today and the weather helped with playing conditions.
Not impressed
Played Wescott because reviews made it sound like a quality course, well maintained, and in good condition. It was none of the above. It’s claim of not being like most muni’s is just simply not the case. The course layout is mundane. Not one hole stood out as a well designed or interesting hole. The fairways and rough were sparse, especially for a southern coastal course. The grreens were decent, but an invasive weed was present on all of them, causing putting to be less than ideal. The part of my experience that was the most disappointing was that every tee box was littered with about a hundred broken tees. That just lets me know that neither the staff nor the regular players care much about their course. It’s too bad this Charleston area public course is so bad. I guess I’ll play Wild Dunes or Kiawah next time I visit the area.
Nice Layout
This course could be a lot of fun. The conditions were terrible but may be it’s the time of year. Dead Bermuda with hard pan underneath. Tee boxes were mostly dirt. Greens rolled pretty nice.
Great experience
From the moment we arrived we were treated like royalty, Clubs unloaded & directions to pro shop where the staff was attentive and helpful. Nice practice range with extra balls lying around for a quick warm up.
Played the challenging course with 2 young USAF gentlemen. Fairways bunkers came into play way too often for my game, but overall course conditions were great. Considering the beautiful weather and number of golfers pace was excellent.
