The Highlands Golf Course

I have played this course in years past and it was fine. That can't be said anymore. The greens rolled true but were no longer green. They were probably 30% dirt and 30% burned out grass. No more rounds there this year for me. Hopefully they resolve the grass issues as it's a nice layout.

The course was fun and had a nice layout. Pace of play was good. The greens and many areas were burnt out and appeared to need watering. We enjoyed our round very much. It would have been nice to have a cocktail after but nothing available at the clubhouse for non members.

Someone at this club is either incompetent or just doesn’t care. Course is pathetic from start to finish. Starter says they made some attempt over the years to fix. Greens are patchy at best, tees are scruffy, fairways hard as a rock, and your better off being in the rough to get under your ball for a chip. Most lies are like hitting off a mat at the range. Cart paths require a moon vehicle. Save your money go elsewhere. You’re guarantied 3.5 hour round, no one plays here. A sad excuse for a golf course. Club management should reduce fees by 66% and they would come close to getting what you pay for.

Course conditions were terrible. the greens were burned out and bumpy. cart paths were in very poor condition. course maintenance was poor. They have a driving range but you can not use it unless you are a member. Not worth the price. Will not play this course again.

This was by far the worst course f the seven I've played in the Sarasota area this year. The tee boxes are beat, the fairways nonexistent and the greens were mostly bare and dead. The layout is good and my threesome played in about 3 hours and 40 minutes. There are many good courses in Sarasota/Manatee Counties, this was not one of them. If there is an irrigation system, it is not used. Don't waste your money.

I’ve played the Highlands at the Meadows many times over the past 15 years. It is now the worst condition I’ve ever seen. None of the “greens” were playable. Many were so bad they were more like the rough only diseased and without grass in many places. As some other reviewers have said, if they don’t tend to them, they’ll be gone. Maybe that’s the goal?

This course must be a severe embarrassment to the Meadows and its members. I’ll never play it again. Fortunately I didn’t pay the $100 rack rate but still felt robbed.

Don’t waste your time or money. $100 for this course. Course in poor condition. Greens like concrete. Cart paths horrible. Snack shop at turn had 1 hotdog left and could only take exact cash only. No trash cans on the course. Cart guys were friendly as only positive aspect.

The course used to be not in very good condition but now with Pope Golf taking over they’ve done an awesome job of getting it back in the shape the greens are great the fairways are good. The people that work there are also very friendly and the cart people as well. Let’s hope they keep it looking like this over the down season.
