The Highlands Golf Course
About
Editor's Note: The course is temporarily closed.
The Highlands golf course is one of three courses owned and operated by Meadows Country Club. In addition to the Highlands and Meadows Courses, there is also the Arthur Hills-designed Groves Course, an 18-hole executive course. The Highlands Course has an "old Florida" layout equipped with plenty of trees and water that tumble across gentle hills. You'll be playing through majestic oaks and towering pines as you take on this challenging-but-fair test. Narrow, tree-lined fairways and small greens demand accuracy but generously the reward well placed shot. The golf course finishes with a tricky par 4. Your tee shot will to be straight and accurate to avoid the fairway bunkers on the left and right, positioning you for a mid iron back into a green that sloped front-to-back and guarded by bunkers on both sides. There is also a lake to the front left.

Cart path only rule excessive for conditions. Greens pretty beat up
Value
When the price is this high the golf course should reflect this. Golf courses should raise their prices when the course is in better shape and at least has a driving range. Got there early to find out the driving range was for "members only". They should not raise their prices to try to make the golf course better.
Never return
Poor condition. No range. Bad greens. Terribly overpriced.
Disappointed!
Front nine was not in best of shape - greens terrible. Played back 9 twice in early November & enjoyed. This time our cart started to jerk when applying pedal with only a very slow crawl. Called on #12 & left message. No response so we text on #13 & again no response. Slowed our pace of play as the cart continued to jerk. Not impressed with no one coming to address problem. Would have been extremely annoyed if we had to leave cart & carry our bags! Not in a hurry to come back - $ value poor!
Greens still growing in but rolled nice and very sneaky tough.
Rejuvenated front nine
We played the front nine for the first time sine it reopened. I was disappointed. Nothing seemed much different. The cart paths are still bad. The fairways were somewhat better than last time but some of the greens had many brown areas. I like the back nine better.
Play the Highlands every week….great experience!
Excellent parking, staff, course layout, greens, fairways and tee boxes. Also includes the Groves shorter course…fun for everyone!
Terrible course - for women especially
Women’s tee boxes are uneven, bumpy and mainly dirt. The light is out in the ladies rest room on the fourth hole - has to prop the door open with the garbage can. Greens and fairways are “dead” - lots of bad patches. No driving range and a very sad putting green. Pace of play is abysmal - no ranger in sight and the group ahead is SLOW (in many ways). For the price this is a rip-off and there are many better courses in this area.
Highlands
Played the course 3 times since the front nine reopened.
2nd green is a disaster, again. The green has been rebuilt several times and it is awful.
4th and 6th greens are not in good shape, also.
Back nine is in good shape, but I can see issues with the greens soon.
Not worth 90$.
Good value
Nice layout, people are always friendly.
I play here whenever I visit - a few times a year.
Golf Rates
The course is great place to play when rates are below $50. I only play when the price is reasonable. I play others for variety at the above $50 range. Number 9 hole is a
Big challenge!!
The Highlands is coming back
Played for the first time since the recent renovation of the front nine. It was an extremely cold day so we almost had the course to ourselves. As usual, the crew in the Pro Shop were super friendly. In particular, Sue went out her way to make sure we had a warm beverage at the turn.
The course is much improved since the renovation and should be a really good course once it gets a season of growth behind it. In the meantime, the course is still nice and the current rates are a good value.
Fun Times
A nice experience to play a neighborhood friendly course with “Golf Now” reasonable pricing! The hot dog and drink are a good jester for a turn incentive. Thank you
