The Highlands Golf Course
About
Editor's Note: The course is temporarily closed.
The Highlands golf course is one of three courses owned and operated by Meadows Country Club. In addition to the Highlands and Meadows Courses, there is also the Arthur Hills-designed Groves Course, an 18-hole executive course. The Highlands Course has an "old Florida" layout equipped with plenty of trees and water that tumble across gentle hills. You'll be playing through majestic oaks and towering pines as you take on this challenging-but-fair test. Narrow, tree-lined fairways and small greens demand accuracy but generously the reward well placed shot. The golf course finishes with a tricky par 4. Your tee shot will to be straight and accurate to avoid the fairway bunkers on the left and right, positioning you for a mid iron back into a green that sloped front-to-back and guarded by bunkers on both sides. There is also a lake to the front left.

Fun reasonable golf!
The layout is friendly but hole 9 requires concentration as to how to play it for your golfing abilities. Reasonable pricing for quick beaverage and hot dog at the turn. Much appreciate clean bathrooms and friendly staff throughout the round.. Hoping for more “Golf Now” pricing to play more rounds as a seasonal golfer! Thank you for a fun afternoon!
Well maintained course except greens
We played here in several winter seasons. As usual, tee boxes, fairways, rough and bunkers were well maintained. This time, greens were very, very sandy.
Good shape
Overall, conditions were good, but needs improvement… several greens had spots that need improvement, but overall good. Pace was very good but we played late in day and it was not crowded. About 3:45 for 18
What happened to the Highlands?
Wow. How disappointing! Haven’t been here for a few years but what happened? The front 9 fairways were dry and the greens (?) were awful!! The back 9 were better (even those greens had scars of recently being aerated) but couldn’t make up for the mess in the front. We paid for a Hot Deal and still think we overpaid. Very sad to see it’s decline.
Pleasant Experience
Course in much better shape than Last Year👍
Staff in Pro Shop Friendly
Cudo’s the course maintenance for improvements !
Will be back
strange
all greens sanded - they have to inform the
players before they pay the green fee. gps not working from hole one .
AWESOME
As a 76 yr. old, the course was the perfect distance for an enjoyable round of golf. I had access to every hole in regulation. The course was very challenging and in great shape. Looking forward to many more rounds.
DO NOT PLAY
AWFUL CONDITIONS AND WORSE SERVICE. Far and away the worst course on the area.
Highlands at the Meadows
There was nothing posted in Golf Now that the front nine was closed for repairs. Also they had seeded fairways and it was cart path only. Would not have played if known the course condition.
Only back 9 open
Was disappointed to learn when we got there to find out front 9 was closed.
The greens were in awful condition.
Played second 9 on The Groves course. But there was a slow 4 ball ahead. So the round was really slow.
The guy that took our clubs was unfriendly and smart mouthed.
Terrible course
Over the years I have played the Highlands, in fact it was the first course I played when I moved here in 2016. When I checked in at the desk this most disinterested older gentleman acted as if he couldn't be bothered. Luckily I read a sign on the counter that everyone was to tee off on the 10 th tee. Of course the gentleman checking me in never mentioned that or the fact that the front 9 was closed. Needless to say I was not happy. They spent a lot of money was spent on the big course The Meadows I guess to keep their members happy that the lacked the funds to do anything to the Highlands yet the keep their rates high. The greens were terrible and tee boxes the same. I will not play here again!
A bit Disappointed
Check in was smooth. Was told to start on #10. The greens were not very good. I guess the overseeding was stating to come in. After our first 9 holes, We proceeded to #1 tee. After we teed off, an employee came up to us to say that the front nine was closed until Dec. 1. We wondered why the tee blocks were lying on the side of the tee box. He suggested that we could play the back 9 again or play the groves. We played 1-9 on the Groves course. It was in very good shape.
The course is challenging.
My friend wore jeans which was a mistake, the man checking us in at the counter as well as cart guy were kind of rude. It was a cool day and forcing him to buy 60$ shorts that were worth 10$ was ridiculous. It is not like he was alone. May as well kicked us all out. Way too snooty. The older I get, I don't get companies that treat the customers like they could care less if you come back. I play that course every other week but no more.
Somewhat disappointed
Right now, you cannot play the front nine of the Highlands so we played the back nine twice. The
Conditions on the back nine are fine. Because of the recent storm, it was cart path only. Understandable. Not sure why the front is closed.
disappointed
Made a reservation on GolfNow and when I got to the course no one mentioned that the front nine was closed. It's a 5 minute cart ride to the 1st tee. Came back to the golf shop and asked why no one mentioned it. Sorry was the only answer. The plan was to play the back 9 twice along with the other 75 people there. I would have left if someone hade told me the front was closed. Just a bunch of money grubbing jerks. Will never go back.
They need to fess up to what's going on
Arrived to find the entire front nine closed for a rebuild, this was never noted any where is the various ads on the golf signup websites. Had to play the back 9 twice, or one of the two segments of an associated Executive Course. Staff on site very accommodating, but we should have been told before booking. Snack bar closed, could not get a sandwich or drink at the turn. Greens were beaten down flat, little or no discernible grass. Not a good situation. As a bonus, the front 9 on the Exec course we played was well groomed, good greens and actually enjoyable to play.
