The Highlands golf course is one of three courses owned and operated by Meadows Country Club. In addition to the Highlands and Meadows Courses, there is also the Arthur Hills-designed Groves Course, an 18-hole executive course. The Highlands Course has an "old Florida" layout equipped with plenty of trees and water that tumble across gentle hills. You'll be playing through majestic oaks and towering pines as you take on this challenging-but-fair test. Narrow, tree-lined fairways and small greens demand accuracy but generously the reward well placed shot. The golf course finishes with a tricky par 4. Your tee shot will to be straight and accurate to avoid the fairway bunkers on the left and right, positioning you for a mid iron back into a green that sloped front-to-back and guarded by bunkers on both sides. There is also a lake to the front left.

Better than other review imply
Having read recent reviews, we were not expecting conditions as good as we found. The greens are generally excellent, bunkers well maintained, fairways thin but we’re just cut and every tee box except one was very good.
Give It Time
Fairways, traps, most tee boxes fine. Front side greens in need of work, and was told that's coming ...as in closing down the side to get greens in shape. New clubhouse being built on Highlands/Groves side. Will greatly aid parking course accessibility when ready.
The aditude of the staff because we were booked by TeeOff was like they looked down on us. We were a bit early & the tee box was open all the time, but we had to wait almost :45 minutes before management would let us go. The front nine greens were horrible, one par 3 almost all unputtable.
Highlands
Course design was nice the front 9 greens left something to be desired it looked like a goat range couldn't get any really good putts.
bogus greens
for such a good layout it was a major disappointment to see greens in very poor shape. Some really in so bad shape as to be useless to putt. Why a good layout an decent fairways and tees would have such poor greens is hard to imagine. :(.
Love the layout, disappointed in course conditions
Nice track, very friendly staff, however most of the greens are in very bad shape, kinda sad I know they redid some if not all the greens before the new year, but now they are in very rough shape
Needs some help
Best part about the Highlands course is the golf carts that have great GPS screens plus ball and club washers on the cart. Nice water & ice machines on course with filtered water. Course is in tough shape especially the greens. They still do not have Big Summer rate and are pushing their own Summer Card ($35 for 25% discount) $50 is a lot to pay for condition better value is Manatee County courses. Better shape for less $$.
Terrible
Do NOT play this course. The greens are unplayable. The course should be closed until it is repaired. Waste of money no matter what the price is.....
crappy greens
Most greens less than playable. Big disappointment for a golf course with a good layout and fun to play. Tees and fairways just fine.
Greens are a mess
We've played here many times over the last 3+ years and this year, the greens were in horrific condition. Even the fairways were dry and unkempt. We paid $59pp and I don't know we would play it again even if was $30pp. The greens appeared to have a disease as the grass was black, scaly and patchy. Please spend some money to replace your greens and we'll be back but not before. Thank you.
