The Highlands Golf Course

We have found so many of the public courses here in Sarasota to be extremely tight/narrow where you lose a ball if you don't hit the narrow fairway. Highlands course was much different - nice - fairly wide open fairways and nice course layout. The back 9 felt longer than the front. The tees and greens could use some work -- for some reason there was sand all over the greens (could be because of what looked like a recent aeration), but the staff is friendly, course is pretty and they have a nice pro shop, locker rooms and it's a good value. One of the better public courses.

Recently greens and fairways punched. Extremely slow greens. I won’t return for at least a month. Give them a chance to put the course back in shape

Given the lack of rain we have had recently, the course is in fairly nice condition. The front had a few problem areas, but overall, nice. The reason why I might think twice about returning is the starter. He was very rude and short with us. Everyone else was fine. He needs to work on his interpersonal skills.

Greens were recently punched but rest of the course was in decent shape.

Staff is always pleasant and helpful. Good value for the money.

My overall 4 rating was due to the fact that the greens had been aerated, but they are being well maintained and had it not been for the bumpy greens I would have definitely given this course a 5.

Good course. GPS on carts with ability to keep score on screen as well. Good features on the cars and the course itself is great. Food options aren’t the greatest. Very Friendly staff and a great selection of beers. Would play again.

Exciting beginning due to course “ developement”

I guess. Beautiful area, great staff, GPS CARTS,

attentive beverage cart attendants, area very dry especially greens so some bare spots and several areas of re sodding. June showers were a welcome sight despite interrupting play. The twosome we were matched with were great golfers, tons of fun and extremely interesting. Yes, i highly recommend.

My first playing the highlands course today with my son. The course was in good condition. Staff was friendly a great round was had by us.

No practice ball for warm up if not a member. Left wandering in the cart area with no info as to whether I would be paired with someone. Finally went to tee and was yelled at by starter for not being there sooner. Very slow at first due to pairing with beginners. They told two of us to go on. Got behind slow twosome. Marshall told them to let us through. They scolded us for playing too fast. Bumpy greens on front but perfect on back. Was thinking of summer membership. No.
