Short course, mostly par 3s on back nine
Fast greens in good condition. Tee boxes and fairway only average. Be careful as there were lots of ant mounds on course.
Why so negative?
I see a few reviews on here that have me baffled.
I just played golf in middle October, in Florida with no one pushing me from behind and under 2 hours.
That itself is a win!
Course had a few rough spots, but every time I found the fairway, I was fine and met with nice plush green grass.
The green speeds for this course was faster than they appear, nonetheless, they ran true!
Tight course that was plotted in a not so ideal spot, but for $15 this course was more than I expected!
Will play again! 5* to the friendly staff!
Course is like a bad pasture
Friendly staff but the course is in horrible shape, was not enjoyable at all.
Needs work
My first visit to the Palms. Got a Hot Deal that fit my schedule and though I would give it a try. I had high hopes given the fact that the course description stated the course was built in 2017. I was disappointed in the condition on arrival though. The tee boxes were somewhat long and mostly weeds. The fairways were about 50 / 50 weeds and VERY short grass so wedge play was difficult off the hardpan. Greens were hit or miss. Some were ok but some had a lot of weeds popping up. Bunkers were hard with weeds in some.
The staff was great and very friendly. No food in the clubhouse but they did have a nice water station which I always see as a nice touch.
With some TLC, this could be a nice exec course. The layout is interesting. If you can get a great deal on the tee time and have a limited window in your schedule, it is worth a try. I routinely play a lot of the local exec courses, (Groves Pinebrook Peridia Terra Ceia) This one would rank well below all of them and they can all be played for about the same price.
Great unique course in Sarasota
The Palms at Forest Lakes is a great local facility and tremendous value. The layout is a bit quirky but very fun, challenging and playable for players of all skill levels, and the greens are in great shape which is what matters most IMO. For the space, it is hard to picture a better course and the location is amazing, right in the center of town! Even if you are not going to play a round, the practice facilities are the best public facilities that I have found in the area with a nice short game area and solid range. The people here are very friendly and have plenty of character. I would recommend giving the Palms a shot!
Our group plays every Saturday afternoon. We have a group of 5-10 that comes out on a regular basis. Greens are some of the best in Sarasota. Staff is friendly and accommodating. They offer great flexibility when additional players come out on short notice. Carts are new and ready for play.
The Palms Hidden Gem
If you have not played the Palms Golf Course you are missing out. Great layout, Great Customer service and just plain fun. If your looking for a golf course you can call home this is the one!!!!
Nightmare!
I can't give 0 stars?! First and last time here! It was a feels like 106° today so was looking for something different with less time spent outside. I WAS excited, then I got there for check-in. The guy who checked me in, who later told me he was the GM, couldn't have been more rude than what he proved to be!
I booked my tee time via GolfNow, which I've used EXCLUSIVELY in 3 states over the last 5 years. When I told him I used GolfNow, he put his head down, shook his head at me, then started his system doesn't recognize GolfNow after 3pm?! Ok, whatever for that. He then proceeded to tell me that I owe and extra $4-$5 than what I was told?! I of course questioned this as my phone shows all the charges laid out. This is where he became extremely rude, somehow accusing ME and saying this is the way it is?! LOL, huh? Umm, no! The reservation made also stated that range balls were included. I got there an hour early for this. When I asked how I proceeded, he said I would have to pay for range balls?! I pulled my phone out to show him, he angrily ignored, threw some balls in a basket and said, I AM THE GM, YOU KNOW. And your point is?!? Why are YOUR problems, MY problems?!?!?
Now the course itself...it's in HORRENDOUS condition! Like, hitting perfect shot in the fairway and getting "rewarded" with no grass and weeds all over I know I shouldn't be surprised as this guy is in charge of it. He IS the GM, you know! Well then take some pride in your job and your course!
For the $23 GolfNow rate, you can golf literally double digit courses for same or less rate which are in current GREAT shape! What a nightmare!
Great little course
I play here once a week and love the course it’s smaller than a full sized bit larger than an executive takes about two hours and 15 minutes to play the whole course which is perfect with the kind of heat we have in the summertime friendly staff and a very laid-back type of place
Great staff!
the practice facilities are very nice. Nice chipping and putting area. Course conditions were pretty good for this time of year but the staff is always very friendly. Great place for a quick round of golf.
Eh
Target Golf with small and Ultra Fast Greens. Hot Deal price is fair, but not pristine golf. Wouldn't recommend unless you just want to get out for a couple bucks.
Interesting Layout
Did not play well today. Me not the course. Par 35 going out, and par 29 coming in. Different! Shot 85, yuch.! Can't blame the greens. My putter was cold.
Always in rough shape
We decided to give this course another shot only to be disappointed again. The fairways are rough and packed...You will hurt your wrists if you take a divot.. Can't use a wedge off the green. Poor shape all around.
Quite surprising challenging course for an executive course, will definitely play again.
Very Dry. Needs watering
Surprised course only takes credit cards. No cash , except for tipping. Course in poor shape and desperately needs watering. Pace of play good for time of year.
Frogging Beneva
Nice exec. course with small but fast greens.Great place for a casual round of golf with friends. It doesn’t but to much stress on your game if you play the correct tees. The Bermuda greens were fast and held shots nicely. Fairways were created many tight lies allowing low shots to run out. The course even adds an element of danger due to crossing Beneva a couple of times.
