Shalimar Pointe Golf Club
About
Located along the shores of Choctawhatchee Bay, Shalimar Pointe Golf Club enjoys a scenic, rolling landscape dotted with trees. This often-overlooked golf course has been considered one of the Emerald Coast's best-kept secrets but the word is beginning to get out. The course, due to its challenging but playable nature, has been used for U.S. Open qualifiers and it was host to the Emerald Coast Tour. The layout features immaculately manicured greens that are framed by strategic bunkering and water hazards on a number of holes. The golf course is challenging but fair with five sets of tees to accommodate players of all skill levels. The course is Shalimar Pointe's main attraction but it is complemented by extensive practice facilities including an expansive driving range, putting green and chipping green.

Getting hot in FL
The humidity is up in FL. The course was in good shape. Fairways were green and plush. The greens were filling in from the past winter. There were still a few bare spots but should grow in within a few weeks. They had a little bump in them and should smooth out soon. No weeds on the greens. All in all, they are coming back from the 7” of snow we had in January.
Best play for the money
As soon as you get there', then staff is trying to help you. The practice range, chipping and putting were all perfect. The course is well maintained and challenging. A must stop on your plans of in Destin, Florida..
Nice course, nicer staff!
Had a wonderful round today with a friend. The course was in good shape. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful. Food was good, golf shop items were top notch, drinks were great and the cart girl was timely. Overall a great experience we will repeat many times! Thanks!
Delightful Course Design
The greens were in rough condition, but you could play on them. I’ve played a few courses in this part of the country and I generally find the greens puzzling. I heard they were working to improve them. I found the course layout to be quite interesting. I thought the green complexes were unique in a good way. Most were protected by water on one side and were often built up with pylons. The ball responded predictably on approach and greenside shots. The fairways and rough were in reasonably good condition. I would play there again. I hope they can improve the green conditions.
Good for the money
The pace was a bit fast for us but we are not very good lol!! The greens could use some work.
Overall we enjoyed our time there and would definitely recommend.
Good Value
had a nice round at Shalimar today. Have played there a dozen times over last 3-4 years. Couple of the greens were hurting but had a fun round at a reasonable price. Nice pace of play. Wish I could start on 10. Finishing on 17 and 18 are tough holes!!!
Just ok.
We chose this course as a substitute for a rain out on another round. It was a “hot deal” price, so we took the risk. GolfNow would only let me book 2 golfers at that rate ($38.99) so I called and tried to book 4 and they tried to charge me $84.99. It was wet and they had tons of times available but wouldn’t budge on it. I think they have a call center handling their reservations. I ended up booking back to back 2 man times and we just merged when we got there. Not busy at all due to weather. Tee boxes were chewed up, greens were covered in black fungus. It wasn’t great. Layout was ok and the place has potential but it’s in bad shape now. Nice young guys working there. I felt ok with $39 but would have been unhappy at $85.
Staff make this course
Old course. Fairways are generous. You need to play it more than once to know where the trouble is. (waste areas, water, sand). Course isn’t long so my wife really enjoyed playing with me. I’m normally a 5 handicap so I played worse than I liked with a 78. Definitely want to play again. I think I could break par. Value for enjoyment was awesome. Play it.
Sliding downhill
this course needs some TLC from the greenskeepers. The greens used to be great, but far from that now. It's a shame.
Early Spring golf
There was a light coating of sand on the greens. This is normal for this time of year. Greens were not punched like a normal aeration procedure, just sand. They were still fast putting. Fairways were still a bit thin but turning green with the season. Fertilizer was laid down. It shouldn’t take too long to get back to normal.
Shalimar Course
I had read that the course had been renovated; however, I hope this is not the case. The practice green was in terrible shape as well as the all18 hole greens. Looked like they put sand on the greens but forgot to aerate & water the greens. I don’t think the course has irrigation systems from tee to green. It was hard to put a tee in the ground on some tee boxes. Course was very dry & this is April. Can’t imagine what it’s going to be in July. From my viewpoint, the only high rating was the staff. Hole 17 & 18 were the best laid out holes. Clubhouse needs updated.
Great Layout
Fantastic pace of play. Two of us played 18 in just over two hours. Layout is great fun; you won’t get tired of this layout playing it every day. Unique holes requiring different strategies. Good test. Several years ago was a qualifier site for the U. S. Open. It’s that good!
Nice course
Nice course, carts need to be upgraded. Driving range is irons only because of the distance & houses close by. Overall it was enjoyable, will definitely play again!
