About
Located along the shores of Choctawhatchee Bay, Shalimar Pointe Golf Club enjoys a scenic, rolling landscape dotted with trees. This often-overlooked golf course has been considered one of the Emerald Coast's best-kept secrets but the word is beginning to get out. The course, due to its challenging but playable nature, has been used for U.S. Open qualifiers and it was host to the Emerald Coast Tour. The layout features immaculately manicured greens that are framed by strategic bunkering and water hazards on a number of holes. The golf course is challenging but fair with five sets of tees to accommodate players of all skill levels. The course is Shalimar Pointe's main attraction but it is complemented by extensive practice facilities including an expansive driving range, putting green and chipping green.

Green Hard and fast
Greens were very difficult they were painted green, which is normal for this time of year. They were rock hard. Very fast. I really enjoyed the layout lots of water.
Good course layout with varying tee to green configurations. The fairways were hard with lots of roll and the greens were the same. The dry fall and winter conditions have not done this course any favours. Did not see any maintenance staff on site while playing our round. Perhaps playing in the spring or summer is preferable.
Winter Golf on the Gulf Coast
After being shut in for 3 days from the rare snowstorm last Tuesday, it was a blessing to get out and play a round of golf. Temps reached 61, skies were clear and sunny, and light winds made for a great day of golf. The course was in excellent condition after 7 inches of snow fall. The fairway Bermuda is in its usual dormant, brown color for the winter. The greens are extremely fast but green, as they spray some type of fertilizer and/or colorant to make them look green. I think this is better than the winter rye grass other coursed put down. If you like very fast greens, then try Shalimar Pointe.

Great greens
What a great day at Shalimar! Some issues with check-in but got sorted out. Great course layout and conditions were standard for time of year. Tees could use some levelling but the greens were the star of the show. Smooth, lots of slope and very quick....great for putting. Would love to play at peak. Nice bonus with range balls included with green fee.
Gem
Just a fun course and value for $. Greens are just a blast. Slopes and dips with excellent roll. So many cool approaches to the holes too. I would definitely add this to my list of courses to try in FWB/ Destin area. Staff was helpful and friendly. Good experience!

Challenging and fun
This course has one of the best layouts in the area. It's challenging and will test every golfers skills. The greens are fast and contoured, so your green approach placement is key to avoiding 3+ puts. Overall, the course was challenging but a very fun test of skills.
