About
Located along the shores of Choctawhatchee Bay, Shalimar Pointe Golf Club enjoys a scenic, rolling landscape dotted with trees. This often-overlooked golf course has been considered one of the Emerald Coast's best-kept secrets but the word is beginning to get out. The course, due to its challenging but playable nature, has been used for U.S. Open qualifiers and it was host to the Emerald Coast Tour. The layout features immaculately manicured greens that are framed by strategic bunkering and water hazards on a number of holes. The golf course is challenging but fair with five sets of tees to accommodate players of all skill levels. The course is Shalimar Pointe's main attraction but it is complemented by extensive practice facilities including an expansive driving range, putting green and chipping green.

Greens
Fairways and sand were in great shape but every single green was horrible ,they did warm us about 4 greens that were under construction and they’d fine but all of the greens were junk. Clubhouse food is a little pricey

Not for serious golfers
So first off the staff was great and course was fun, however the greens are absolutely horrible. Horrible is is actually an understatement, but I was in town visiting family and it was a really fun course just to get out in nature and hangout with a group of buddies. The mgr on duty said they are going to redo all the greens in the near future. That will make the course a lot more fun. For $30.00 with a cart I’ll go back if I’m not worried about score again, if I actually want to play I will go elsewhere.
Course needs work
Greens were in horrible condition. Bare spots, dead spots, moldy spots. Front nine was closed due to too much rain. I was told by the staff the front nine greens were worse and three of them were temporary greens. I would check with the course before booking.

Priced correctly
Played this course in July. Fairways were okay but greens were in poor composition. Could only play back 9 due to front 9 being closed. Lounge/bar under construction. Felt awkward even attempting to go in and order anything, so didn't.
However, for the cost, it was great to get out, priced accordingly due to maintenance issues, and the pace was fantastic.

Great location and poor course conditions
This course is in extremely poor condition. A well pump went out early 2021 and was not fixed in time to save many of the greens and fairways. They are making progress in the course's recovery, but are several months away.. This has always been one of my course favorites, but must wait until it improves greatly before playing again.

Not ready for play
Loss of a pump for months destroyed greens that are irregular & most have large bare spots. Some fairways are nice & green but we won’t be back for a while until course is recovered.

DON’T PLAY!
Not in good shape at all, worst golf course I’ve ever played, can’t putt.Layout is good but not in good enough shape to be open at all. Don’t waste your time. Especially if your traveling from out of state.

Disappointing
I got to the second hole and I got worried. Worried that there wouldn’t be any sand left on the beach after seeing how much sand the greens and the fairways had on them. The course is in terrible shape and the the front 9 isn’t even open right now. Would not recommend to a friend or even an enemy for that matter. Not worth it!
I've played this course for thirty years and it is in the worst shape ever. They would be better off to kill what grass is remaining on the greens and start over. They also need to get a new crew who knows what they are doing. Absolute shame this course has gotten this bad. I feel bad for the people who own houses on the course and are members there.

Great course aside from greens
This course has a great, challenging set up until you reach the greens which were damaged severely by hurricane sally and are still in recovery mode. Cheap rate makes up for horrific greens. Wouldn’t play unless paying under $30 .

Decent
Decent course, especially for the price. The layout of this course is amazing, but the greens are in rough shape. Even with the rough greens, this course has decent value for such a low price point.
Waste of money
Course layout is nice. Rolling hills with some technical shots needed. Some reachable or near reachable par 4’s for your longer hitter. Staff was very friendly.
The greens are horrible. Completely impossible to even putt. Huge dead area spots that cover anywhere from 60-90% of the green. Several holes played a 2 putt rule and picked up. Honestly, they may not be able to save these.
Fairways were extremely dry. Rough was well over grown with more weeds than anything else. It appears this course has been going under for several months with neglect in the ground keeping department.
I will not be back!

good course but needs a little help
I like the course layout Greens need allot of help.

old course needs help on greens is number 1 attention.
Like all courses around here not much sand on bunkers but not a problem

Every green was unplayable. We played automatic two-putts.

Horrendous Conditions
This was 100% the worst course I’ve ever played, and it’s not even close. There was barely any grass on the greens, the tee boxes were terrible, most of them weren’t even level. The sprinklers were on for every single hole we played that was not a par 3, and we played at 9am. They were still on when we finished at about 1pm.

Pretty area and tough course but the greens are all tore up. Was absolutely a waste of time to play.

Don't play here! Greens incredibly eaten up
If you play here after this review you are nuts! Every green was the worst green I ever played on. I played with 3 who were familiar with the course and they even said that the greens probably won't be "good" until next year, and that would be with major work. If you spend 1 penny to play this course you are nuts. I will say that if you just want to practice the other parts of your game, it's ok. Greens worst I've EVER seen.

Staff was friendly. Course was in ok shape but the greens were atrocious. I would not recommend until the greens are repaired. When I played the course a few years ago it was much better.
Overall a fun round, great layout, several fun risk- reward holes. Greens we're sub-par, maybe due to fungus/hard winter, something.
Good value and a fun low key round. I'll play it again when back in the area.
