Springfield Golf Club

I am giving this course 3 stars only because of it reputation.

I have played this course many times and was really disappointed by the condition.

For mid May when conditions should be be near perfect the greens were shaggy bumpy and I hate to say it, just plain bad.

The fairways were shaggy and uncut as well. This was a Friday so it really makes no sense. Overall very sub par for a course of this caliber.

Per usual the staff was friendly and nice which is great but ultimately doesn't overcome the ragged conditions.

Great course. Very difficult especially the greens. Love the course layout. Ball placement is a major factor at this course. The range area was torn up. The practice Chipping and putting greens are shared(yellow sticks for chipping and white for putting). The greens were slower than expected. Overall, I loved the challenge and playability of this course.

extremely slow play for a Tuesday. course conditions weren't what I expected for the price. Greens were as stressed as I've ever seen for Bermuda greens. Probably won't play again. Too many other better courses in the area.

Nice layout & challenging, friendly professional staff. The course has some winter damage but normally in pretty good shape.

Fun, pretty course with mostly friendly staff. Pace of play felt reasonable with all foursomes, but staff were constantly riding around telling everyone to hurry up even though each group was right in the tails of the groups ahead. The staff was very distracting and rode by at least 5-7 times and on the 7th hole telling us we were off pace of play by 5-10 minutes even though the group in front of us were putting as we were on the fairway. This could have been an enjoying experience has the staff not been hounding all the groups. I won't go back.

I have been golfing at Springfield for 4 years now and I can see a certain decline in the quality of the course maintenance the last 2 years. The course layout is obviously the same but the course is just in poor shape for a high end public golf course. In my opinion it is now a mid to low quality public golf course, certainly not worth the price of admission. I thought this last year at peak time and I think that now, even though it is early in the season.

A great and challenging course. It takes some good course management to score on this course even though it has some wide-open fairways. I can't wait to go back !

The fairways were incredible and the pace of play was fast - albeit it was a weekday at 3pm. The only reason I'm not going with 5 stars is because the greens were sanded.

Weather could not have been more perfect for a round at Springfield Golf Club. The course was in very good shape with the exception of a few greens that are in recovery mode. Although, the warm weather coming on should help these bermudagrass greens heal up and improve quickly. Tee boxes, fairways and most of the other greens were all in tremendous shape. The layout is somewhat challenging but very fair. You have the opportunity to play a lot of different shots into the greens. Fairways are generous, but like any course you don't want to wonder off wildly or you'll find yourself in jail in the trees or in some ravine. I will be playing it again soon.

This was my first time playing Springfield, so I did not know what to expect. I was surprised at how well maintained the course was, and how well the layout of the course was. The course was fairly challenging with plenty of narrow fairways surrounded by mature trees and wooded areas. The natural areas are also placed in some challenging locations. Overall I am a big fan and will be returning for more rounds this season!

Extremely slow play. Had to quit after 9 holes after the front 9 took 2 hours 45 minutes. They have 1 ranger for the entire course. We did see him several times, but never stopped to say anything.

I think the slow play is due to overbooking, players searching for errant tee shots (very wooded off fairways), and lack of pace of play enforcement.

Absolutely a great course for your dollar spent. If only more public courses would follow their enthusiasm for "job well done attitudes".

The practice facilities is also like none other public course in the Charlotte area. Maintain well and setup is great.

Only recommendation would be is to increase the number of water coolers on the course.

I will make this course my big expression to any guests that come into town.

Course was pretty good for the money. I would not pay more than $40 for it though.

You don't get a second chance to make a first impression. At 86 I'm a recreational golfer so

I would play the course for fun not like when I was playing organized golf.

Normally, Springfield is one of the better if not best public courses in the area. But, not this time on this day. The greens were torn up and under repair with large swaths of sand. Worst I have ever seen this track. I will be back because I know what Springfield can be. But, not for awhile.

The course was in really good shape for end of March. We played in off and on rain for the first 8 holes but all drained pretty good. Played from the Blues at about 6,600 yards overall. Track was good...challenging but not much. VERY elevated greens...don't miss the middle or plan on pitching back up. Cart paths in good shape...carts good...Snack Bar staff friendly. From Texas but in Charlotte for 3 months and Springfield will probably be my first choice while here!

This is always a challenging course greens in really good shape Fairway ok condition but good for this time of year .
