Springfield Golf Club

It begins in the pro shop with Paval. He was rude and dismissive. I had to call golfnow to fix an issue with my tee time (golfnow reps are always wonderful and super friendly by the way). Once everything was straightened out it was off to the putting green as we awaited our final members arrival. Now the starter comes to me several times trying to bump up our tee time about 20min because "4 groups of regulars want to get started earlier". He was rude and made a couple of sexist comments to my girlfriend about how she would probably slow down our group so we should get going. She has a 15 handicap so his point was moot. Our final party member arrived with 10 min to spare. Turned out we had to wait on the first tee anyway. So now here's the final nail in the coffin and the reason I will not return to this course. I tee off with a decent fairway drive, second golfer tees off will a well hit shot, third golfer tees off and without a warmup hits out of bounds. He tees up a second shot and after hitting it well the starter comes and says, "excuse me sir! We only take one off the tee since it's busy today." I responded, "his first was out of bounds so the rule states he hit a second from the tee.". The jerk retorts, "I watched him hit 3 or 4". WTF?!? WHY WOULD THIS JERK BOLDLY LIE ABOUT SOMETHING SO REDICULOUS?!? I simply corrected him with a "nice try pal". But seriously, why would he even say something so rude and foolish? We were appalled by this unprofessional behavior and this is unacceptable to me. It's disappointing too since the course was in good shape the the layout was fun and challenging. Springfield really needs to retrain or replace staff members who aren't familiar with proper golf ediquette.

Slow play=play bad=get mad=play worse. Made the mistake of playing on a Sunday. No one was paired up and had to wait 10 mins on every tee box from 2 to 18. It was 2some, single, 2some, 2some, 3, then a actual 4some. Both 2some groups behind mine quit at the turn. Great job boys!

Played this course with a twosome and it was a little slow as they searched for many golf balls throughout the round. As far as the staff and course, both were OUTSTANDING. From the pro shop staff to the starter we were treated great! Greens, fairways and bunkers were all well maintained. Hats off to the crews that keep this course in great shape!

Course always seems to be in really good condition. Undulating fairways and greens are always a challenge here. A lot of the bunkers are deep and also challenging. Overall it remains one of the best public courses around.

Really really great course. No bad or goofy holes. #2 is a little unfair based on the fairway slope to the right. Play left, catch the slope a your ball will feed back into the middle. Check it out!

First time here at Springfield and was pleasantly surprised. Fairways were in great condition and greens were well laid out and also in great shape, full and without blemishes. Great course for the money and would return without hesitation. Staff was great and starter warned of hazards knowing that I was a first timer at this course. Everyone friendly with usual southern hospitality. A great day!

I've had my eye on playing this course for a while. I found a great deal for a late afternoon tee time with a young, aspiring golfer so I went for it. The staff there was very helpful and pleasant as well. My only complaint would be the humidity on this day, but that's an issue I took up with Mother Nature. The course, especially the greens, were in great shape considering some of the other courses in the Charlotte area I've played recently. It was such a fun course to play. We were rewarded on our good shots and penalized for bad ones. It was fair and tough at the same time. I encourage anyone who has a chance to check this course out. After realizing how close it is to my home, I'll definitely be back soon.

Course was in great condition from tee boxes, to fairways, to greens. Challenging track as well. One of the better values in the Charlotte area.

Had a great time at Springfield. Great course with friendly staff. Will definitely be back.

Course was in pretty good shape considering the heat and dry weather that the Charlotte area has experienced recently. We got started at 11:55 and finished by 4 so the pace was great on Sunday.

Course would be easier if you have played it a few times to know what to hit off the tee. Will return soon!

the front nine is not particularly memorable or enjoyable. a couple holes border on unfair and need to be redesigned. the back is much more playable/fun.

conditions vary from pretty good to ho hum. receives a lot of play so will be slow during peak times and is too expensive for what you get with this course.

staff is relatively friendly. clubhouse is getting dated on the inside (needs a refresh) and the merchandise is subpar.

it's worth a play when not peak times so rates are closer to fair and the pace of play is bearable.

I played Springfiled on a Monday morning, getting a great deal on the rate. I checked in and the woman in the shop told me there was a group of 12 seniors who were scheduled to tee off right after me, so if I wanted to, I could go right then and there and get started. Not being a good golfer and with the threat of being rushed by 12 seniors, I took her advice and teed off without putting or hitting any balls. This course is great but some local knowledge is a necessity. It has a great layout but is more hilly than anticipated. This led to a lot of uneven lies, balls above or below the feet. But the course is in great shape, definitely one of the cooler courses in and around Charlotte. One green had some patchwork done to it but that was it. The rest were well maintained and were running very fast on this day. Overall, Springfield is great course in Fort Mill, close to Charlotte and the surrounding area, and well worth checking out.

Course was in decent condition given the how dry and hot it's been. Greens were receptive and the fairways would really run out. A few bad patches on the greens and around the lip of the hole was really bad on a few holes. Other than that it was a great course. Layout is easy enough for a beginner and makes you think on a few holes. The staff was great. There was no one in front of us so we played 18 in under 4 hours.

Course in top shape and very challenging!!

A must play

Played this course for the first time with my son and a gentleman who plays here often. Woody was an excellent guide and provided shot location tips. We liked the elevation changes although it did create some unusual lies. Only complaint was the Rough being Too High. Next time we will play it must be cooler than 106 degree heat index!. Otherwise, staff was friendly and course was in great shape.

The course layout is great and the staff was very nice. It took us (a threesome) 5 hours and 20 minutes to finish 18. A lot of the tee boxes were in rough shape and the greens were in many different degrees of aeration making play pretty difficult...it was a cheap loop, but not exactly a memorable experience.

book tee time on golf now and got there the greens were covered in sand. i mean in some places 1/4 to 1/2deep. know it has to be done but should have noted on site and they could have brushed of the axcess off show you could have putted with a chance

This a great and challenging course!

Even with the Rain received earlier in the week, the course was still very playable, not as soft as expected. Course is in really good shap, a few problems on olny 2 or 3 greens, but well worth the Cost.
